Dressing Diary Try-On Session in Loft

Today’s post should come as no surprise because you know I was in this store trying on clothes yesterday…. so today I have a try-on session in Loft for you. 🙂

If you’re new here, welcome. A dressing room diary is when I go into a store and try on new merchandise so you can see how it looks on someone over 25. For reference, I am 5’4″ and weigh 136 lbs. I have an inverted triangle body shape with wide shoulders and narrow, straight hips. My torso and arms are long so I wear one size larger on top than the bottom.

Try-On Session In Loft

I couldn’t find a link for this pretty kimono until Kelly found it for me. Thanks, Kelly! The tee is mine from here, and these jeans are the high-rise straight crop in natural white which is an off-white. They come in regular and curvy, 24-33. I’m wearing the straight in 28 so they run TTS. The natural white is a really nice alternative to glaring white and goes with everything white jeans go with.

Loft makes this tank in 5 colors, XS-XL. I’m wearing the Coral mist in a medium that is too large because the armholes are too deep for me so I would go down to a small. It’s a great, affordable layering piece in 100% cotton. The tiered skirt has a really pretty metallic thread running through it. Since the fabric is soft, the tiers blend into each other and don’t stick out the way stiff cotton does. It comes in regular, petite, and tall, sizes XS-XL. I’m wearing a regular small and would probably prefer the petite.

Here I am in shorts again. These linen/viscose blend shorts come in 3 colors, sizes 00-14. I’m wearing a 6 in the Radiant Copper.  I added this soft v-neck cardigan in Sundried Vine. It’s a soft acrylic blend that comes in regular and petite in 5 colors sized XXS-XS. I’m in the regular M. You should know that at Loft, the petite versions are usually smaller than the regular, so I suggest you size up.

I could find this duster and it’s really fun. Loft makes several lightweight dusters this season that are perfect for popping over anything from shorts, pants, a dress, or a bathing suit. It’s a filmy modal fabric in XS/S or M/XL. I’m wearing the smaller one.

These jeans have a nice high rise and are slightly cropped. Less so on me, because I’m wearing the regular. They also come in petite and plus, straight and curvy, sizes 24-34. I’m wearing the 27 and they came home with me. I love the wash and the kick bottom is new for me which makes them feel modern. The regular has a 26 1/2″ inseam, the petite is a 24″ inseam and the plus has a 26″ inseam.

Here’s that cardigan again, this time buttoned closed which I love to do with cardigans. These straight-leg jeans are a very soft Celestial Jade color (also in blush). They’re available in regular, curvy, and petite sizes 24-24. These are a regular 27, but I prefer the 28 on me so they run TTS.

Ok, ok so you’ve already seen me in this dress, but I couldn’t resist trying it on again because it coordinates so nicely with this cardigan. It’s just the prettiest combination of colors it makes me wish I had a garden party or casual wedding to go to.

The same kick crops as above, this time with a cute cotton tee with a beach motif. It’s 100% cotton in regular and petite, sizes XXS-XL. I’m wearing the regular medium and like the length so I think it runs a bit small. I topped with the same ribbed v-neck cardi, this time in the Radiant Copper color.

I am shocked to find myself liking these kick crops because they’ve never been in my style wheelhouse. Is it boredom and the desire to experiment? Possibly. It’s also a backlash to wearing skinny jeans which I’m finding more uncomfortable every time I put them on. I’m sure my taste will swing back around but for now, I’m just going to go with it.

Thanks for reading ladies and remember to wear what makes you feel confident and happy.

You like those jeans because you look really good in them! You rock that style. Have fun with them. Loving the Loft dusters on you also.

You look good in anything you put on. Your hair looks really good today! Are you doing anything differently? My hair is terrible, getting so thin and no body😢

Lately, I’ve been putting velcro rollers in my hair before I shower which gives it some oomph, then spray with dry shampoos and finish with hairspray

A bit late to the game today due to circumstances, but wanted to say that I don’t notice anything about the tee, and think it is cute for a fun look. I am so surprised after all the colour controversy lately, how amazing you look in the cardigan and dress, and the coral tank. It really blends so beautifully with your look. As everyone has said, that dress would be an amazing item to have in your closet. It is kind of diffucult to imagine most of these on me since our bodies are shaped so much different, but it is so good to see the clothes on a real person just the same.

I love the colors in the maxi dress and that sage cardigan is perfect with it. I say, if you don’t have an occasion to wear something, create your own. That would look cute at a backyard party. Invite me.

Loved everything today, but the dress and cardigan made me say WOW, love that look, especially on you. Also loved the green cardigan buttoned. Thanks for sharing! Love it when you try things on for us really gives a sense of how it would look if purchased.

Lots of cute outfits today although I particularly like the seashell tee and the maxi skirt. The kick cropped jeans also look cute and worth a try. I’ve never worn a duster except for one sweater that I purchased after seeing it on here last winter. Maybe I’ll try one on next time I’m in a store.

Love the dress and cardigans colors. The tee is cute but it is the kind of print and quality sold at a tourist destination shop. The coral tank seems to be a better quality material and has more structure which I look for in summer tops. It looks great with the shorts. Very good look for a summer day.

    Great post….so summery!
The dusters are such a nice addition to shorts or jeans & a t shirt.
Love the colours of the cardigan

I really like that scoop-necked tee with the tiered skirt. I would never have thought to pair those two together, but it is gorgeous — and gorgeous on you, too.

That dress is wonderful and looks great with the sweater. Hope you purchased both!!

it’s crooked. The seashell print tee is not cut straight to the grain. It’s painfully obvious in the first photo. This is a cost cutting measure and a real pet peeve of mine. It shows up all the time and at all price points theses days. Are your readers bothered by this? I do like the colors featured here.

I won’t buy something that’s obviously not cut straight on the grain of the fabric. Yes it bugs me.

I think it’s an asymmetrical print, Lily so it’s not meant to straight.

Best style/proportions: the short, fitted sage v-neck cardigan and the high waist cropped jeans. The v-neck and fittedness of the sweater are very flattering to your figure. Interestingly, even the colors look good on you, which surprises me somewhat, as I have always thought you look so good in black and white. I like the way the color of the jeans echoes the color of your hair.

Best colors: Paradise duster w/ scoop tank and cropped jeans.

I really like the kick-crop jeans on you however I would definitely have to try them on, as am long in the legs so might appear as high-water boot cuts on me. As to dusters in general, they are something that you seldom see anyone wearing in the climate I live in (its only 60° F where I am today) but do feel it would be a great addition to a warmer climate wardrobe particularly with all the pretty prints available. Last but not least; do like the cardigan sweater and know I would gets lots of wear out of it whereas the wide leg Bermuda shorts due to my lifestyle, would be a preferred option than a skort. -Brenda-

I actually tried these on in the store on Friday and I am pear-shaped–they made me look frumpy. They’re super cute and were on sale for $20 so they were worth a try, but sadly, not flattering to me! I did love the seashell print top.

The coral, warm brown, and olive pieces look SO good on you!! I really like that duster, what fun.

The tiered maxi dress and ribbed cardigan look simply gorgeous on you! I feel that this is a style that I could wear with confidence too. I don’t have a special event in my immediate forecast but would it be a smart buy when you find something so special? Would it justify the purchase to tuck away for future wear?
I feel somewhat the same about the paradise duster too. So pretty!

Love the way the dresses, skirts and pants fit you—if only it was that way with me! Lol. Thank you for sharing these pretty outfits! Some I’ve noticed would work right into fall! Autumns here in the NE have been warmer and sunnier than Spring. The colors would work!

Yes, I noticed these colors will be great for fall. It’s always a struggle to dress for the season when the weather won’t cooperate, but colors like this help.
