I can’t remember when we stopped celebrating Valentine’s Day. My husband and I just paid less and less attention to it until we simply stopped acknowledging it. Yesterday I overheard my daughter telling my husband he must make dinner reservations to take me out to celebrate. I love that girl! He was busy telling her “we like to stay home”. I was talking over him, saying ” we don’t ALWAYS like to stay home”. I probably caused his restaurant reluctance by being a fantastic cook. (funny, but I’m not a bit shy to say that I am) However, I do love to get dressed nicely and be served at a restaurant, which my daughter knows.
Style has the power to transform your confidence. Working from the outside in, women can boost their confidence by hitting their Style Sweet Spot. Pam Lutrell and I began this new series to help and inspire those women who are struggling with their appearance. Each week we choose a scenario from our daily lives to show why, what and how we dress to reach our style sweet spot. Your style sweet spot is when you feel confident about your appearance and know you are sending the message you want people to see.
So the upshot was he scrambled and found us a reservation. Not easy on the day before Valentines day. We’re going to a very casual, local restaurant that’s been getting great reviews.
Sunday I stay home and try to get lots done before the week starts. Exciting stuff like laundry, ironing, cleaning closets etc. So this is what I would wear for a day at home doing chores. I’m wearing my new Metro Leggings from Soft Surroundings which are very comfortable! I’ve paired them with an Eileen Fisher T-shirt with an asymmetrical hem and well-worn comfort shoes by Merrill. Nothing fancy, just comfy and casual.
The first thing I add is jewelry and long sleeve cardigan. These earrings and necklace are artisan pieces I bought at a craft fair, years ago. They’re whimsical and soft, with a translucent quality. Because their color is pale I can get away with both necklace and earrings.
I changed into my Arche shoes and added a bracelet for a bit more polish.
I transferred a few things into a smaller handbag and I’m ready to go. This is casual, very comfortable and not underdressed for a dinner out. It’s my Style Sweet Spot for a relaxing celebration in a casual restaurant.
