Versatile Black and White Stripe
Happy Wednesday ladies. We had a short break from the wind, rain, and hail storms yesterday which was a welcome change. It wasn’t warm but the sun was strong which gave us a chance to get out for a photo shoot. I know many of you are buried in snow so I’m not complaining but the cabin fever is real and it’s nice to get out of the house.
Today I’m styling another terrificĀ piece from Artful Home’s new winter collection.
This beautifullyĀ It’s designed by Alembika who pieces fabrics for movement and creates fun silhouettes with aĀ modern look.Ā I’m a big fan of their modern shapes. I sharedĀ this jacket by AlembikaĀ with you last fall and it’s become a fast favorite that’s in heavy rotation in my wardrobe these days.
I love pockets in everything and there are hidden ones along the front seam of this shirt. The fabric is crisp enough to keep the collar popped which I love because it adds attitude to any look.
This super comfy shirt will goĀ over white jeans beautifully this summer making it a piece to span the seasons. The cropped sleeves have a button cuff which I’ll roll up in the warmer weather.
The classic A-line shape of this tunic has lots of movement because of the inset taupe, triangular-shaped side panels. I’m wearing a medium and could easily haveĀ worn the small because it’s cut generously. I’m wearing my most comfortable black jeansĀ which I’ve styledĀ here, here and here. I opted forĀ black boots with a low heel to elongate my leg and help me look as tall as possible.
To continue the black and white stripe theme I added These fit the bill! They’re ultra-light curves of shiny and oxidized sterling silver with white pearls along the sides. The oxidized silver is black and the polished sections look white. I expect these to be worn as much as these favoritesĀ from last spring which you’ve seen me wear a ton.
We’re due to be slammed with another storm tomorrow so I’m running to the library and trying to get all outside errands done.
Are you a fan of black and white stripe like I am?
How about pearls?
Thanks for reading ladies and stay warm and dry.
A big thank you to Artful Home for gifting the shirt and earrings. I was compensatedĀ and all opinions are my own.
I have to agree with most of the commenters regarding the shirt. It really isn’t flattering. I do love the earrings though!
Can you make a suggestion. Going to funeral. Wearing black jersey turtleneck kind if shirt dress. What to wear on my legs?? My legs do nit look good enough in winter to go bare. Stockings ugh! My black tights too heavy. Suggestions?
I have worn and do suggest smooth black opaque tights. Wear a slip so your dress doesn’t stick on the tights.
I was surprised to dislike this top as I usually love all the Artful Home clothes! Just not a fan at all. Earrings are fantastic!!!
The earrings are very special and unique.
I thought this was going to be a post that you were taking up bowling. This looks like a bowling team shirt to me…..lol. I agree with the other comments, the stripes fade away and the color combo seems wrong. I think it would look fine if it were one solid color, but the combo makes it looks off. Love those earrings to death!
I adore the earrings too:)
How do you clean your pearl and sterling jewelry?
I do not clean pearls because they’re very fragile. My silver I wipe with a silver polishing cloth.
I don’t dislike the blouse, but I do dislike the colors. That black and white stripe reads blue to me when seen from a distance. The taupe just doesn’t coordinate (or contrast) very well. The idea is good, though, color blocks with interesting shapes.
Not a fan of your blouse and have recently been reviving āolderā tops from my closet that may help me to get through this era of ill fitting and ridiculous sleeves and dungy looking āhigh fashion.ā That said you always look great in your outfits but it seems a shame that we need to put so much effort in making a new outfit look good!
Those statement sleeves are luckily going by the wayside this spring and I am happy to see them go too.
Going with the masses on this…not a fan of this blouse at all. Had to zoom in really closely on my phone to even see the stripes. In general I do, however, love me stripes like nobody’s business. Horizontal, vertical..I love them both. Earrings are cute.
No cabin fever in Central Florida. But our time rolls aroundr in the hot and humid summer that lasts at least 6 months.
I’m not sure I could take the humidity in Florida so good for you!
Iām not a fan either. You have cabin fever and living in Wisconsin I have snow fatigue.
Snow fatigue would be way worse! Stay warm.
Have to agree with the others – not for me. The stripes telegraph gray from a distance, the taupe panels are an odd element, and the style isn’t the most flattering IMO. However, I LOVE the earrings.
This blouse just does nothing for you. I think you are too petite to wear this style. Sorry.
In complete agreement with previous comments.
You certainly are a chameleon as I wouldnāt have expected you to enjoy this look so much. Youāre keeping us on our toes. Thanks
Have to agree with previous comments..I love the basic concept of the shape and style and you have featured a similar style that was very pretty and flattering but there is something off here. The back view is ok and highlight the inserts on the sides but the front? Not sure if it’s too short, or sleeve length is off or the collar is just meh. Usually I am blown away by the modern esthetics of Artful Home clothing but at the price, not this time! The earrings, on the other hand, AWESOME!!
I agree with the above comments.
Weāre buried under snow on Vancouver Islsnd. Very unusual for freezing temps and days of snow.
I do adore these earrings!
Not a fan of this blouse! WAY too volumous for my petite frame. Iām like you…..I get cabin fever and just have to get out, even if itās just to the grocery store!! Ha!
Hi Jen!
I love your blog and love you. However, this blouse is not a favorite. I understand the concept and own a few similarly designed but without all the varied fabrics. Sorry.
Please donāt be sorry Paulette. Everyone has different style aesthetics!
