What to Wear to an Art Gallery: Style Sweet Spot

What to Wear to an Art Gallery: Style Sweet Spot

Style has the power to transform your confidence. Working from the outside in, women can boost their confidence by hitting their style sweet spot. Pam Lutrell and I began this new series to help and inspire those women who are struggling with their appearance. Each week we choose a scenario from our daily lives to show why, what and how we dress to reach our style sweet spot. Your style sweet spot is when you feel confident about your appearance and know you are sending the message you want people to see. This week we are visiting an art gallery.

Hit Your Style Sweet Spot

Many of you told us on our survey that you’d like to dress more creatively. The fashion trends seem to bear that out. More and more blogs, stores and magazines are showing wildly creative outfits. In order to authentically wear this look you have to find the level of creativity that feels best to you.

I’d like to show how you can do it without going over the top and stepping out of your comfort zone. I’m bumping my creativity up a notch for a trip to an Art Gallery. This outfit is scaled to my taste by keeping the colors neutral as I play with proportion and angles.

This Haven Top is designed by Ana Klerkx of Porto. It’s impeccably tailored with asymmetrical lines throughout. Made from two different fabrics, it’s fashioned to look like a layered garment. Both fabrics are woven with stretch so it’s very comfortable. Designed and sewn in San Francisco, this sophisticated top is machine washable, which I love!

I’m excited to introduce you to Artful Home this week! Pam and I are both featuring their fabulous clothes for Style Sweet Spot. This is an online shop featuring amazing styles that allow you to look distinctive and stand out in the crowd. Here’s where you can find and invest in treasures to wear for many years.

Each Season, Artful Home curates a collection of artist-designed clothing, shoes and jewelry for women. They are all designed and made in the U.S. or Canada. Many are handmade upon order!

I don’t like to dress like everyone else. Wearing clothes from Artful Home means I don’t. It’s like wearing art!

The tunic length is perfect for wearing with skinny pants or leggings.

This tunic top is long enough to wear with leggings or skinny pants.

This top feels exactly like me. It’s classic touches are arranged creatively which looks distinctive and unique. The rest of my outfit is very simple. Eileen Fisher pants tucked into knee-high La Canadienne boots and I’m ready to go.

Pop on over to their website and tell me what your favorite pieces are. The Artful Home new winter collection can be shopped here. They’re all so distinctive and unique, I know you’ll find some favorites.

Creative dressing is fun. What’s important is finding your comfort level and what feels authentic on you!

Let’s go over to see what Pam is wearing and how she hits her Style Sweet Spot from Artful Home.

I wrote this almost two years ago in homage to the great art galleries in Australia and Betty Churcher (who is now deceased) the curator of the National Gallery. http://www.thehipsterette.com.au/wordpress/?p=4034 My mission over the next five years is to visit all these galleries – and now I will have to decide what to wear on these visits as a fitting tribute.

Well don’t you look lovely. Even a gallery in NYC would speak to you if you walked in…the rest of us would not be worthy. Sorry New Yorker City gallery workers…not the friendliest bunch.

I was pleasantly surprised to find it was machine washable. I hate to dry clean things. They never seem to feel cleaner when I get them back!
