What’s Popular and Would You Wear This

Happy Saturday and welcome to the weekend. Grab your favorite cup of java or tea and let’s get started. No one is more shocked than me to realize it’s already August! I’ll be celebrating my 64th birthday in 3 weeks and always wonder how they whip around faster every year!

It’s time for would you wear it. Each Saturday my friend Pam and I share a mannequin we have photographed and ask our readers if they would wear what it’s modeling. Please share your styling ideas in the comments so we can all be inspired.

What do you think? Would you wear all or part of this outfit?

How could you style it to work for your shape and lifestyle? Please keep your comments personal so no one’s feelings get insulted.

July seemed to fly past and I have a feeling the rest of the year will do the same. But when I spotted them putting out the disposable turkey roasting pans at my local Sprouts I was shocked. So early??

Getting older is a privilege but we needn’t make ourselves look older than we are.

I love this look and have worn it several times since this post but I wear them with these sandals now.

This skirt, tee, and sandals are getting worn to bits this month. It’s just so easy to pull on and cool to wear.

Nordstrom sold out of these jeans in the petite version so I’ve updated the link to Madewell where they’re on sale. I think this is my new favorite outfit. There’s just something about this combo that makes me happy.

This tank and linen pants were the steals of the century for my summer wardrobe and I’m wearing them constantly!

Here are a few weekend sale updates:

Talbots – 30% off new merchandise and 50 + 15% off sale until Sunday

Eileen Fisher – end of season sale with an extra 40% off

J. Jill – an extra 50% off sale merchandise

Soft Surroundings – all sale styles are an extra 30% off with the code AMAZING

Nordstrom – has an amazing clearance going on to clear space for their Pre-Season sale

Banana Republic

I really appreciate your shopping through my links which earns me a tiny commission and helps support my business. I’m unable to earn any commission from the following stores but we love them and I want to keep you in the know about their great sales!

Ann Taylor – up to 60% off almost everything with the code TOGETHER

Loft – 40% off full-price styles with the code GREAT

Now let’s head over and see what Pam’s mannequin is modeling on Over 50 Feeling 40

Thanks for reading and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.

Happy birthday! I turn 62 on the 29th. I’ve enjoyed reading your posts for a couple of years now.

Late to the party as I’ve had a busy weekend for a change. Hope this isn’t too opinionated but the skirt reminds me of my grade 7 home economics sewing project, style and colour from 1967. That’s a retro look I don’t want to relive. Yellow isn’t a happy shade for me either. I think I would walk right past this mannequin.

My figure is less of an hourglass and more of a overstuffed pillow these days. The cute little waistline, a-line skirt is impossible for me to pull off anymore. So, it’s not for me.
Aside from the cut, the cutesy print on the grass green skirt is a little too home-ec project for me.

I know I am late to the comments – but, here goes – I would not wear this. First because the colors are wrong for me. Second, because my body shape unfortunately no longer favors tucked in shirts, blouses, etc, not even the half tuck look. As to the latter, I have tried to pull it off, but simply cannot do it! I am pretty short waisted and it just doesn’t look right on me. The overall look reminds me also of the patterns in textiles that were popular in the early 70’s (small print in the skirt and the green and gold combination of colors). So, as I have already been there and attempted to do that before (in the 70’s) I don’t really want to revisit this look. I imagine many young women might find it to be a fun look – and to them, I say “have at it!”

I wouldn’t wear this outfit for several reasons. I don’t like the yellow color, and it looks terrible on me. I love cardigans, but I wear them open over a tank or cami. The skirt reminds me of 70s styles, which I liked then, but not so much now. I do really like the outfit from Talbots you are wearing—cute skirt, white tee, and denim jacket. I love denim jackets and have a number of them, including white, lavender and aqua, as well as blue ones In a variety of styles. But I live in the California valley as you do, and it’s too hot for denim jackets right now!

The outfit is cute and it makes me happy to look at the bright, sunny colors, but I cannot see wearing it. The yellow color would not suit my skin tone and the skirt print doesn’t seem like professional office attire, which is my main purpose for buying skirts. I like the basic outlines of the outfit and would definitely consider these items with a different color for the sweater and a different print for the skirt.

Regarding the post about “looks that age you,” I liked the woman in a grey robe with the grey towel wrapped around her head. It is a photo that I find intriguing. She looks comfortable, relaxed, and focused on her lap top. I would like to know more about her and why she was included in your post. Does she represent your readers or yourself?

She looks comfy and relaxed to me too. I don’t look dissimilar when I am fresh out of the shower. I love the colors in the image and that her towel matches her robe! They both look very soft and cozy. I need to do more of those undereye masks too:)

I like the colors and the print of the skirt. I can’t wear a buttoned up sweater. I prefer a V neck top or an unbuttoned sweater over another top. I can’t wear skirts with gathers around a waistband. I am a Leo. Today I celebrate another revolution around our sun.

The sweater color doesn’t work for me. I have a large bust so if I wore a buttoned-up cardigan, I’d need one big enough not to pull across my chest. That would mean going up to a size that didn’t fit my shoulders properly. There was a time when I could wear pleated skirts but that was years ago. I’d wear the green floral print if the skirt came in an a-line or pencil skirt. I always want skirts to hit at a good point on my leg, so when I buy a midi-skirt, I hem it so it hits the bottom of my knee. Maxi-skirts look best if they hit just above my ankle or hit the top of my foot. I have to agree that the outfit as shown has a retro-look.
