I do wear yellow occasionally, but would not wear these pieces. I might try on the pants, but the design of the sweater is not for my body type. The mannequin was not designed well…it doesn’t really motivate me to want this outfit.

And that’s what mannequins should do! Thanks Pam, happy Saturday

        I agree with you, Pamela.

  2. February 2, 2019 / 3:40 am

Well, I like this sweater and pant on the mannequin but it’s not for me. I have tried these chunky crew neck on, and they do nothing for me. I’m a bit busty so it’s a bad look! And yellow is awful on me. Sadly. I need V neck sweaters! And I need thinner fabric to look my best.
    The pant might be okay……..

The chunky knit is ok, but not in yellow. The color just doesn’t look good with my skin tone.

Everything is too baggy. I need clothes that skim the body.

I agree with you on this one. Too baggy and yellow is not for me.

I love the outfit but could not pull it off for a number of reasons. I can’t wear yellow because it washes me out. But in he right person, this yellow certainly makes a statement. I think it’s bright and springy.

Yellow washes me out too Lynn

Oh, yellow is such a breath of fresh air! I’ve been eyeing a lemon yellow Everlane cashmere sweater, but yellow isn’t for me, at least near my face. This sweater looks too trendy to earn a place in my wardrobe, but if I saw someone else wearing it, it’d certainly make me smile. So….no.

      I like your thinking Karen

  7. Linda
    February 2, 2019 / 5:07 am

This outfit is not for me. I cannot wear yellows in any tone. Also the pieces are just too baggy and shapeless.

  8. Amy
    February 2, 2019 / 5:14 am

I love this color, but it’s not for me. Chunky sweaters also make me look like a stuffed sausage. I want to wear them because it’s cold here in Ohio right now. I won a similar sweater in red via a silent auction last weekend and can’t make myself wear it without laughing at myself. Back to the donate pile.

If it makes you laugh at yourself, you’re wise to donate it. At least it was free 🙂

I can’t wear yellow, the sweater is too bulky and the pants look too big. I feel even in another color it would not flatter my figure.

  10. Mary K
    February 2, 2019 / 6:08 am

No no to the yellow sweater; totally not my color and it’s too chunky and boxy. Pants are too full through the hip with the pleats for my frame so that won’t work either.

  11. Kathy
    February 2, 2019 / 6:10 am

Didn’t this mannequin look in the mirror before she left the house? Everything is too big! But I do love yellow and used to wear it more confidently before my hair turned white. I prefer flat front pants because they hide my tummy better.

I like the color but the chunky crew neck style is a no. Like someone else said, being busty means this style is a no. If I found the color in a lighter weight v neck I would try it on and then the pants and top would balance. I would wear the pants – the style looks clean and polished – great for work or a Saturday with my best guy.

  13. Eileen
    February 2, 2019 / 6:56 am

No, the yellow is wrong for me, and as a pear, this is too boxy. I’ve tried on pants like this, the high waist can work on me, the fabric has to have very nice quality and drape to work right with the pleats because that’s a lot of fabric around my hip area. It seems the stores are showing a lot of warm toned colors, which are not for my coloring, Pam’s post had warm tones as well, so no on that .

    February 2, 2019 / 7:05 am

Pleated pants seldom look good on anyone except maybe for a reed thin person. Same with the chunky sweater…talk about adding pounds (visually).

  15. Susan
    February 2, 2019 / 7:07 am

I’d look like a bumblebee! No seriously I’d wear the sweater in a thinner knit with a v neck. I love yellow but I’d wear it with grey pants. Just never got into the black/yellow combo.

Love this! Love yellow! For me, yellow in the winter means that spring is coming. I wait to see the yellows show up in the stores. I have a few yellows in my wardrobe and will be breaking them out. The sweater is a style I like and it works with the pants. But, I have found that I don’t always feel good in that particular knit without a layer under it. It’s sometimes too clingy. I do have a chunky cardigan in the same knit that I love to wear when we get extreme cold tempts. Thank you!

    February 2, 2019 / 7:12 am

I would not wear this outfit. I don’t care for that shade of yellow on me because it is too harsh. I prefer a yellow with a more gold ocher color to it because it looks great with jeans that have the classic gold stitching. As far as the pants, I might be tempted to try them on, but as another person mentioned, the fabric would have to be high quality to support the pleats and drape of the pants. I’m not sure these pants would accomplish that.

In the abstract, I love yellow. Yellow is cheerful, yellow is sunshine, yellow is happy. But I feel that people with lighter skin rarely look good in yellow, especially something this saturated. Folks with dark skin can often look terrific in this color but, alas, that is not me. Frankly, the chunky knits like this make me feel, well, …chunky. I do kind of like the pants, although they seem way too big for this mannequin.

  19. February 2, 2019 / 7:32 am

No I cannot wear yellow. I am a winter, I wear primary colors and black and white. No neutrals or oranges or corals. I also do not like how these two items the pants and sweater are too baggy. Not flattering at all, except on a tall and skinny model

    February 2, 2019 / 8:03 am

This sweater is a daffodil yellow. It looks great on a flower in Spring but not so much on a person even in Spring. Mind you, the colour can be lovely on a rubber rain coat.

  21. February 2, 2019 / 8:36 am

I like the color of the sweater! It’s happy and fun! I’d wear a white shirt under it … flipping the collar, rolling the cuffs, and letting the tails show below.

I don’t wear chunky knit sweaters nor yellow. The sweater looks cheap to me. The pants have too much material and would just make me look bigger so I’ll pass on those, as well.
Once again, a mannequin that would not entice me into a store. Whomever is dreading these mannequins is saving me money. Thank you!

    February 2, 2019 / 8:54 am

I do wear this kind of sweater, but with jeans. I love the color, but it doesn’t do anything for my skin tone. Change the color of the sweater, add a shirt underneath and a pair of good fitting jeans is pretty much my winter uniform!

    February 2, 2019 / 8:57 am

I love yellow – but have a hard time finding a shade I can wear. I like the sweater, but would want it in a cooler shade. And pleated pants are not in my wardrobe anymore!

    February 2, 2019 / 9:21 am

The average American woman weighs around 168 lbs, so why would we want to wear anything that adds bulk??! I wish designers would consider designing for real women instead of mannequins!!

For reasons already covered, I am among the naysayers.

  26. Pat
    February 2, 2019 / 9:40 am

I would not wear as yellow makes me look sick. The look is a bit sloppy to me.

  27. Diana
    February 2, 2019 / 10:00 am

I would wear the yellow color, but not this sweater. It’s too chunky for my upper body shape and I tend toward open or v-neck tops. Crew necks are not my friend. The pants are too baggy for my shape, also. So, a less chunky sweater with a v-neck in that yellow, I would try on and I’d pair it with fitted pants.

  28. February 2, 2019 / 10:10 am

I love the color and I think it’s one I could wear. I LOVE the scalloped sleeve hems! But the sweater itself, as everyone else agrees, is too chunky, and the pants are too baggy. So, pass.

  29. Cyndi
    February 2, 2019 / 10:11 am

I like the color and would try on the sweater. Pleated pants are not flattering for me but I think this sweater would pair great with jeans

  30. Lori Stewart
    February 2, 2019 / 11:04 am

I would not wear the yellow sweater. The color would not look good on me. The slacks I like, but they don’t fit the mannequin very well. I would have to see them on.

  31. Becky
    February 2, 2019 / 11:08 am

The yellow would certainly brighten these dreary Midwest days, but I’m not sure that would be the best yellow for me. The pants get a maybe. As with most pants, I would have to try them on to se how they look.

  32. Kay
    February 2, 2019 / 11:12 am

I wouldn’t wear this, but for reasons other than color. The pants are classic trousers which I don’t wear particularly well (for reasons I haven’t yet figured out.) I don’t like chunky knit anything. I do wear yellow since I am one of few (according to all the comments) who look good in it and most warmer colors.

  33. Jill
    February 2, 2019 / 12:52 pm

The only reason I would wear the sweater is if I turned into a canary! Yellow is a cheerful color but I can’t wear it.

    February 2, 2019 / 2:11 pm

I do like the yellow, in fact I just purchased a velvet jacket similar to this shade of yellow that I am leaning towards wearing with black but I do like the navy pants although I would prefer them to not be so baggy around the hips..

    February 2, 2019 / 2:14 pm

I cannot wear yellow in any shade! That color is bright and cheery, but not for me. And, please, tell me they are not bringing back high-waisted pleated pants! That shape flatters very few figures unless one is very slender. I’ll stick to my skinny jeans, thank you very much.

    February 3, 2019 / 3:24 am

I love yellow on me, I wear it every once in awhile and I usually get compliments.
It’s a color that does not wash me out.
The neckline of this sweater would not be flattering on me. I need a V or deeper scoop on me. I like the bulky knit of the sweater, the texture, and the fullness of the upper sleeves.
I would try on, but this would most likely not be a purchase for me.
The slacks are cute, and would go with much in my wardrobe. They would work better on me with a sleeker top than a bulky sweater as styled on our manikin friend.

I like yellow, I can’t wear it. The outfit looks cute on the mannequin but i’m Not shaped like one. I would try the sweater on in a different color, my guess is it would look sloppy, I’m full busted and short. The pants would make my legs look shorter and the bunching would add fabric to my stomach, also something I don’t need.

I think I could get away with wearing this bright yellow chunky sweater. I’d pair this sweater with jeans (dark wash), and dark brown booties or flats…maybe even bright white tennies! I don’t like the pleated pants here at all…not flattering to any body type in my opinion, and rather dated. Looks like some pants I wore many years ago (hubby too, for that matter). No to pleated pants. lol.. A pale more pastel yellow color flatters me more, truthfully, but I am drawn to this happy yellow color on the mannequin!

I would look like I had a terminal disease! Yellow looks gastly on me. The sweater shape works for me but the color is way out for me.

  40. February 4, 2019 / 3:53 am

I wouldn’t buy the items as displayed but I do like yellow as a colour to wear. The trousers are very uninspiring.

I would wear this in a heart beat! I love yellow and the pants are so chic! Fun post!

Maybe it’s just the drab winter, but I love that yellow! I also love chunky sweaters that look hand knit. I would, however, wear the sweater with slim fitting pants.
