Would You Wear It -2022 Edition

Happy, Happy New Year, ladies! I’m starting off 2022 full of optimism and fresh ideas. My husband is starting it with a nasty head cold which I am valiantly trying to avoid. We’re running our air purifier nonstop and I am downing 1/2 teaspoon of this Wellness Herbal Resistance Liquid every few hours. The taste is truly gag-worthy, but I swear by it:)

It’s time for would you wear it so grab a cup of your favorite coffee or tea and let’s have some fun with fashion. Each Saturday my friend Pam and I share a mannequin we’ve photographed and ask if you would wear what it’s modeling.

  1. I like the top and pants, but I don’t think I would look very good in it. I am short and not real thin. I definitely think a tall thin woman would look good in this outfit. Great for a holiday party.

Sorry your husband is sick. My husband had a very bad sore throat last month, he took a covid test and it was negative. Every time we get symptoms we take one of those rapid flow covid tests. His family down I Houston(12) all have covid over holiday because one of them was in a wedding, and exposed all of them at a weekend get together.

    1. Our local pharmacies are all out of the home test. I’m glad your husband didn’t have it.

  2. Marin Mattingly says:

I’d try it on. I’m not sure about the cuffs. I think they would annoy me so I wouldn’t wear it often enough to buy it. But I would try it on. I tend to overlook things like that group of necklaces.

  3. If I had a fun festive occasion to wear the sweater to Iā€™d wear it in a minute. Itā€™s perfect for our California weather. I usually donā€™t like boatnecks on me but the chains soften the line. Iā€™d love the chains in silver as Iā€™m not a gold girl. On a health note, I second heartily the Wellness product. I use the same brand but in their capsules not the pills. I havenā€™t tried the liquid. I made it through the holidays around my sick family including my husband and escaped the bugs. Itā€™s not the first time itā€™s worked that well!!! Highly recommend to all my friends!!! Happy New Year!!!

    1. I’m glad to know the capsules work! Maybe I can get my husband to take some.

  4. I liked it. I am tall and the sweater would add more interest and break up the tallness. The outfit adds just the right amount glam without being over the top. Boat neck is great. I agree it’s a once a year outfit.

    1. I like it’s glam appeal too

  5. Interesting look. I like the top, quite retro, the jeans with the top not so much. I see the top with a nicer pair of dressy pants or faux leather leggings and sparkly heels. Going for more if a party look.
    Take care, happy new year.

    1. Penny, I love your idea for the pants!!! Faux leather leggings or joggers would be great!!! My only issue with the leggings would be the length of the sweater and covering my bum. The joggers arenā€™t as tight and would work.

    2. I like the outfit, and would try it. I think it would work for me. The sleeves might be a bit annoying, but they are charming.

    3. Happy New Year Penny

  6. Happy New Year Jennifer! Stay well! I like the sweater and the slacks and the jewelry just none of it together. The sweater would be better I think with sleeker pants. The jewelry seems too much with those fur cuffs. Just my opinion. Honestly itā€™s hard to imagine where I would where this anymore since we are so curtailed on events?? Praying for a healthier joyful and more ā€œnormalā€ year! Thanks for all the great info you bring us!

    1. I am praying things open up more soon, too. This has gone on so long!

  7. The sweater has a retro vibe, but the bell sleeves seem too full and impractical. I would have to wear a thin turtleneck or layer beneath it, because this is winter, people! (I am currently wearing leggings under my jeans, wool socks, and a turtleneck under my turtleneck fleece, with a quilted vest over that.)
The length of the sweater is also not flattering.
On the plus side, the bell of the sleeves draw the eye to the waist.
I have never shopped at Chico’s.

    1. Stay warm! šŸ™‚

  8. I love your ideas and suggestions. I hear the challenges of those posting, the biggest one for me is we live in Florida, so most of the winter clothes arenā€™t a good match. I do make notes of the clothes you show and the idea that strikes me and save them in my computer then keep an eye out for lighter weight options. It may mean being a little creative, but thatā€™s the fun of it. I love the look of the dark blue sweater with the fur cuffs, but itā€™s in the mid to high 80s often around the holidays and much of winter. It did put me on the idea of looking for a dark blue top and black jeans and dress slacks; by adding a little bling with jewelry or to be on the lookout for a scarf to blend the blue, and black. Thanks for the many opportunities to look at clothes with the eye of possibilities.

    1. Happy New Year, Rhonda. Right about now, warm weather is pretty appealing.

  9. I LOVE the outfit and would definitely wear it if I had somewhere to wear it to – which I don’t!

    1. I sure wish we did have somewhere to wear fancy things. I miss getting dressed up

  10. Like the pants but not the fur lined sleeves on this mannequin; jewelry is pretty & I like the boatneck style but not the length or poochy-ness near the tummy. I actually am lucky to have a flat belly and don’t want to make it look bigger — I live in an area where there are no real places to go ‘dressed up’ so would not buy or wear this and I agree with one other reviewer I’d have to have a jacket and the fur on the sleeves would make it impossible…

  11. Cara MacNinch says:

I absolutely love the outfit and I would definitely wear all of the pieces including the jewelry!

  12. Leslie Greaves Radloff says:

Sweater with bureau neck and 3/4 fur sleeves would be neither practical nor becoming on me. And I’d be cold. It does however, hark back to Dior early 50s look and has an elegance to it that was missing in many of the NYE apparel seen last night I, too, like the Faire Isle sweater, both design and color. The pattern on the sleeves matches at the seam something not always seen in mass-manufactured sportswear. However, the wool content is 5% and it would not keep me warm even with CuddleDuds underneath.

    1. It reminds me of the early 50’s glamorous looks, too.I sure wish there was a place to wear things that this in my life. Hopefully soon.

  13. No, although I think it is tres chic. I (sometimes) wish I lived in a climate that allowed my lower arms to freeze, but alas, this is beyond impractical. Same with all these “high-water” pants everyone else seems to embrace. Everything flesh needs to be covered in winter here. Sigh.

  14. Susan McClelland says:

I like everything about this outfit except the fur cuffs on the sweater, I am always cold and would need to wear a jacket – given their size, I think the cuffs would be hard to fit underneath something else or be lumpy. However, sans cuffs, this is a outfit I could easily dress up with a colorful scarf or fun necklace. I like to wear all black under a multicolored jacket or another colour like red, pink or purple. It would look great with boots in any colour. Black patent would be my first choice.

    Happy New Year!

    1. Happy New Year. Yes, this would need a cape, rather than a coat with sleeves.

  15. I would wear that outfit but I am not sure where! I am retired and with covid we don’t go anywhere. I have not need for nice clothes. Thanks for your blog and a happy healthy New Year.

    1. Happy New Year, Rory

  16. Peggy West says:

I am afraid to wear faux fur. Remember in the days gone by when activists would throw a can of paint on you if you wore fur? Anyway, the faux fur sleeves would hit me in the wrong place. The rest of the outfit is great. I love what they have done with the jewelry.

  17. Pamela Over 50 Feeling 40 says:

Actually if this outfit was in a better color for me, I would so wear! Love it!

    1. This would be fabulous on you, Pam

  18. The sweater is cute and does not need necklaces. However, it screams NYE or holiday party to me. I can’t imagine wearing it anywhere else. For that reason I wouldn’t buy it. I’m getting pickier with my closet space. Happy 2022!!

  19. Lynne A Johnson says:

I like the way the mannequin looks. But I could not add that much visual bulk to that area of my body. The gold jewelry brings sparkle up to the face which is nice. But the chains bring a lot of heaviness. I’m too short to carry this off. I’d look very stubby. I choose finer gauge sweaters and no extra fabric adding bulk. I also choose jewelry that doesn’t add visual weight. I see this looking very elegant on a tall person.

  20. Lol…I’ll stick with the Schramberg..my favorite…
Love your blog, and a speedy recovery for the Mr.
Actually I like the sweater, anything boat neck I can wear.
    Mrs.Howell? like Gilligans Island?..bring on the bubbly…

    1. Yes, yes, yes!! Very Mrs. Howell. I love that reference

  21. Happy New Year! I hope you don’t catch the cold. I would not wear the sweater. The sleeves are just too big and boxy for my taste. I love the faire isle teal one, though.

  22. Happy New Year, Jennifer!

I really like the look, although I am too small to be able to pull off the sweater. I think it’s elegant looking and should be paired with tailored wool pants in the same shade of blue, I also really like the necklaces with it A beautiful outfit for someone who is taller and has places like a dinner out to go to. I’ll stay at home in my joggers and casual sweaters.

Take care, and I hope your husband’s cold goes away soon.

  23. I couldnā€™t wear this because it has a boat neck which I donā€™t like and the fur on the sleeves would just end up dipped in something or knocking something over. Iā€™m not good with big wide sleeves. The top would cup right under my stomach. The pants are okay but I still like full length pants best,

  24. Happy New Year to you and your family. I hope that the cold is over quickly and you don’t catch it. People tend to look at you funny if there is any sign of sickness. I found that with allergies this year.
I would certainly wear that outfit if I had somewhere to wear it. The pants are perfect. I would change out the necklaces to a cool toned statement one, I am thinking of one of my large enamel and jewel ones.

    1. You’re right! If I sneeze under my mask, everyone’s head swivels my way!

  25. This is the best styled mannequin Iā€™ve seen in quite a while – to my eye. Yes, I could wear it but I have nowhere to go wearing fur cuffs! The color is perfect but the boat neck is not the most flattering on me due to my long neck. That fair isle sweater is beautiful but too warm for my climate. I hope you can avoid your husbandā€™s cold. Happy New Year, Jennifer!

    1. Thanks, Terry, Happy New Year!

  26. Paulette Levy says:

HappyNew Year! Letā€™s hope 2022 us a great year. HOPE! I love this outfit! Iā€™d wear it out naturally- to dinner, to a festive winter house party ( sadly we arenā€™t doing much of that with covid surging) or when entertaining here. I see it as in my best color range and it looks flattering! Really love this! Hope your hubby heals up quickly!

    1. Thanks, Paulette. Happy New Year

  27. Sharon Steinhoff Smith says:

That sweater has Mrs. Howell all over it. No thanks.

    1. Yes, it does! You made me laugh.

  28. love those slippers Happy New Year

  29. I would wear the sweater with the fur.
With different colored jeans or leggings in a check or plaid to complement the sweater.
The model looks like she is pregnant, but I think it is the way she is standing.
I think it could be a cool outfit.
Happy 2022 to you and your family.

    1. Happy New Year, Lin!

  30. There is no way I would wear this sweater. Do you see how thin the sleeves make the mannequin look? That’s how I would look. Just can’t wear anything like that. I like the jeans though and the jewelry is nice, but I wouldn’t wear them all together. Hope your husband feels better and you take care of yourself!

    1. Funny, I have very thin arms and that’s the first thing I noticed! I like the overall look of this outfit but I’m afraid the dark colors would overwhelm me.

    2. Thanks Rose, Happy New Year
