Would You Wear It?- Blue Floral

Would You Wear It?- Blue Floral

Happy Saturday ladies and welcome to the weekend. Each Saturday, my friend Pam and I share a mannequin we’ve photographed and ask if you would wear what it’s wearing. We want to know what styles fit your shape, lifestyle and style goals.

Readers love to read styling ideas from other readers and learn from each other, so please explain your thoughts.

We want to know why you like something or why it would not work for your shape. Pam and I don’t share our opinion because we give you ours all week long:)

So tell me, ladies, would you wear this dress and why or why not.

Yes, I would! I like the color. The large floral print is a little out of my wheel house but it’s fun to try new things. I’d probably wear a high heeled wedge espadrille to give me the height needed to pull off those big flowers! I’d skip the bag and go with something smaller and less bold.

    June 2, 2019 / 7:30 pm

LOVE IT! I’m tall and thin — have narrow shoulders — so this would work for me. Love the fun print. Bring on the garden party!

  3. Lily
    June 2, 2019 / 6:09 pm

Absolutely not. I am petite. Ruffles never work for me.

    June 2, 2019 / 3:16 pm

Dreadful Dress! I loved [email protected] comment about footballers sleeves, just spot on Elaine so witty.
    The tote is nice though.

  5. Susan
    June 2, 2019 / 10:10 am

If it had a simple sleeveless top I’d wear it in a minute. I like the tote, but looks too matchy with the dress. Love red shoes–why not?!

    June 1, 2019 / 5:54 pm

Both the bags on model look wrong. Two bags? Really…too busy, too blue. Like shade of dress, pattern match on model, but dress really says it all. Perhaps a dainty necklace? Me? I’m careful about v necks as wear mastectomy bras which I have found work better with higher round or slash type necklines. I’m also careful about covering in strong Aussie sunshine.

  7. Scarlett
    June 1, 2019 / 4:34 pm

    Yes—fun print and waist-tapering silhouette

  8. Lesley (New Zealand)
    June 1, 2019 / 4:09 pm

Nope not for me.! I’m about 60 years too late for the style. Haven’t got the waistline nor the upper arms for it. In other words definitely a “young person’s” style!

  9. Peggy
    June 1, 2019 / 4:09 pm

Although I love the colors, the print is too big. Don’t care for the ruffle either. But the belt and length of the dress are great.

  10. Pat B
    June 1, 2019 / 3:52 pm

Both the dress and the tote are too bossy for me!

  11. Lori
    June 1, 2019 / 12:33 pm

If I were 25 years younger and the ruffle sleeves were removed, perhaps.

  12. Katrina
    June 1, 2019 / 12:09 pm

No – the ruffles ruin it. The print is too big & bold. Looks like a circus tent, agree!

  13. June 1, 2019 / 11:37 am

The dress is super cute and as a merchandising mannequin…it is eye catching with the handbag.. But, I am not the one to wear it. It is not in my messaging adjectives…and I do not wear anything but flats. But I would carry the bag!

  14. June 1, 2019 / 11:08 am

I like the dress, but not for me. I can imagine my size 4 teenage granddaughter wearing it. I like the color combo and although the print is large, it’s not annoying. A couple of my much taller, much thinner friends would look fabulous in this dress. I love the striped tote and would maybe buy it.

  15. Kay
    June 1, 2019 / 11:04 am

I think it’s beautiful. I would wear it if I could, but the length of the dress and the giant ruffles at the shoulder would not work on me. I don’t usually decide if something is age-appropriate, but in this case, maybe the dress is too “little girl” for me at my age.

  16. Becky
    June 1, 2019 / 11:02 am

The ruffles make this seem a bit too young for me. Also, I no longer wear sleeveless anything unless it is under a jacket or sweater.

  17. Katelyn K
    June 1, 2019 / 10:30 am

Hoping your cruise is delightful Jennifer. I love this cheerful floral print, color and structure and would wear in a heartbeat if I lost 30 pounds, was 20 years younger and tightened up my tricepts. Alas, I cannot turn back the clock so I’m afraid the dress is a no go. I do already own this tote so yes, I would wear :))) I plan to show this dress pic to my neighbor who does meet the criteria. It’ll be love at first sight. Safe travels.

  18. Terri
    June 1, 2019 / 10:28 am

It’s very pretty. I would try it on.

  19. Peggy
    June 1, 2019 / 10:27 am

No. I’m short (5’2″) and over weight. I’d look like I’m wearing a circus tent.

  20. Penelope
    June 1, 2019 / 10:09 am

No. Because it’s just ugly. That fabric needs to be eliminated from the planet. The dress style may pass on some figures but not for most over 45. And are those red shoes with it. ?? Ug.

  21. Linda
    June 1, 2019 / 10:05 am

If I could wear pretty shoes then yes I would! I love the blue colors and the floral pattern! I wouldn’t use that bag with it as to my mind, it conflicts with the dress. I would want the dress to stand on its own within distractions! It’s beautiful!

  22. Sue G
    June 1, 2019 / 10:00 am

As others have shared, the flutter sleeves would make my shoulders look even larger than they are. I don’t mind the print and love the colors- neutral but not boring – and the style is one I would try but definitely shorten the skirt length.

  23. Elena
    June 1, 2019 / 9:53 am

I like everything about this dress–the color, the print and how it is matched at the center, the length and the v-neck–but the ruffle sleeve is too much. Perhaps the young, tall and narrow could pull it off, especially if they have a taste for the dramatic. I am short with broad shoulders and a need for sleeves, not wings.

  24. Judith
    June 1, 2019 / 9:53 am

No! I don’t like clothes that shout ‘Look at me’. Also as I’m short I would look ridiculous as if the dress was wearing me!

  25. Griselle Camacho-Claudio
    June 1, 2019 / 9:50 am

No, I like the colors but not in a large print.

  26. Barb
    June 1, 2019 / 9:07 am

Love, love the color but as others stated the floral is too big for me personally, I am under 5 feet and the dress is too long for me. The style of the dress is spot on for me, as it would show my waist and a little width on the shoulders is a good thing for me (a little heavier on the bottom half). I would definitely try it on if it was in petite sizing and smaller floral print. It really is a gorgeous dress and I love the bag but again too big for me to carry!

  27. Lea
    June 1, 2019 / 8:58 am

I love it from top on down to the red shoes! I’d try it on and cross my fingers.
I like the colour, print and it has a waist. And the red shoes are perfect with it.

  28. manuela
    June 1, 2019 / 8:53 am

Would wear florals and love the colours, but this style and large print would overwhelm my petite frame. I think the red shoes are kind of fun and make the red centers of the flowers pop. I can’t see much of the shoulder bag but the striped straw bag is beautiful with this outfit and I prefer it to the white shoulder bag. Overall, love the look, just not for me.

  29. Mary
    June 1, 2019 / 8:52 am

Nope… not my idea of a “floral.” Angel-wing shoulders too immature for me. Don’t like the look overall.

  30. Bab
    June 1, 2019 / 8:45 am

Blues are a favorite color but this pattern is far too bold and the ruffles are too distracting. Probably best suited for someone a lot younger than me.

  31. Lori Stewart
    June 1, 2019 / 8:32 am

I don’t love the print. If the flowers were smaller, I would wear the dress, tote, shoes, the whole shebang

  32. Anon
    June 1, 2019 / 8:25 am

Yes! I have the height and the pear shape to carry this off. That shade of blue works for me. This one calls for platform sandals.

  33. nancy
    June 1, 2019 / 8:06 am

I love this whole outfit! I would rather red sandals, from what I can see these are shoes. But IRL – no- because of the flutter sleeves. However, the sleeves run down in a princess seam in the front, I would have to try it on and see.

  34. Denise
    June 1, 2019 / 8:01 am

Love the colors and the tote with the dress. But, I’m a 5’2” pear shape and the large pattern would overwhelm me. I think it would look great on somebody; just not me.

  35. Lorna Espenshade
    June 1, 2019 / 7:57 am

I love this dress! The colors are fabulous and the sleeves are different. So much affordable ready to wear looks boring. As to comments about age, why shouldn’t we wear something modern? I think we all have too many hang ups about age and ideal weight!

  36. Ethel Williams
    June 1, 2019 / 7:49 am

No, the arms went south years ago and the print is just too large.

  37. J Nelson
    June 1, 2019 / 7:46 am

No. The print is too large, at least for me. Really enjoy your posts!

  38. Joan
    June 1, 2019 / 7:34 am

This dress is simply adorable. The neckline and sleeves widen the shoulders; good for a pear shape. The waist gives most every figure a shape without clinging tightly to the body. Yes, I would give it a try.

  39. June 1, 2019 / 7:33 am

I love it. If I was thirty years younger, and the print was smaller, I would wear it!!!

  40. June 1, 2019 / 7:11 am

I love the color and floral pattern, but ruffles do not always look good on me. I’d have to try it on to see, but it is a very pretty dress and I like the shape. The bag is so cute! – Amy

  41. Cyndi
    June 1, 2019 / 6:57 am

I really like the print but I’m not fond of the cut. I’m not fond of ruffles, although these are pretty understated,

  42. Rose Brock
    June 1, 2019 / 6:48 am

I unfortunately am so short and the dress would be overwhelming with such large floral print. I like the tote but even that would be too large for me. But I love the colors!

  43. Diane B
    June 1, 2019 / 6:27 am

I love the colour of this dress and the bag is gorgeous. I would need the sleeve ruffle to be about 6 inches longer for my comfort zone. That would probably not work since the ruffle comes all the way down the front, so yes I would try it on because I love the look and the fact that the flower lines up on the front. Is this shop on the ship? Thanks for keeping this up even on your vacation.

  44. Bettie
    June 1, 2019 / 6:25 am

I would not wear it. The flower pattern on the front would drive me crazy if it didn’t match up perfectly.

  45. Yvonne Chamberlain
    June 1, 2019 / 6:11 am

Okay, so I m a 67 year old pear shape body. I think I would try it on! It may look different on a real body. The flutter sleeves are suggested for pear shapes to balance the bottom. Wrap waistline is also good, with the skirt floating over the trouble spots. The print is a bit loud but again may look different on a real body. No to the purse. Maybe to the shoes.

  46. Eileen
    June 1, 2019 / 6:04 am

I would not wear it, the flowers are the size of a Hawaiian muu muu, just too large.

  47. Sharon Heritch
    June 1, 2019 / 5:51 am

I cannot imagine what body shape would look good in this dress. The sleeves are so exaggerated when paired with the high-value definition print, that it becomes a caricature.

For myself, despite having a rather pointed chin which is supposed to work with V-necklines, they look terrible on me. Wrap dresses exaggerate my middle. Large shoulders make my own large shoulders look like a football player. Gathered skirts make my *H* shape look frumpy, I need to wear sleek tailored skirts. Black is too harsh on my medium-contrast coloring. The blue would be perfect on me though. And I’m the exception, but I don’t care for the bag at all, though it perfectly fits with this dress. You’d have to be very dramatic to wear red shoes with this dress, and I’m a classic gal. So none of it works for me!

    • Ellen
      June 1, 2019 / 8:45 am

You are very hard on yourself, Sharon. I am sure you are lovely being YOU! Listen to us all picking apart minutiae
      on our bodies.
This dress is still not many peoples’ friend. Imagine either of our heroes Pam or Jennifer wearing it. No just no for IRL.
      Sums up our culture, yes?

  48. June 1, 2019 / 5:40 am

I love this dress….on the display here, , not me! Usually, I am not a fan of big prints, but I so love the colors here! Beautiful….
My body type wouldn’t do justice to this dress. Maybe at 25 lbs less I could, would try it on. But, not today.
    Love it on the mannequin!

  49. Susan M.
    June 1, 2019 / 5:33 am

I would say no to the dress because it would overwhelm a 5′ 1″ body–too long, floral design too big, V-neck too deep. However, the tote bag is nice–pretty colors.

  50. Hazel
    June 1, 2019 / 5:31 am

Very classy for the right body.

  51. Becky
    June 1, 2019 / 5:10 am

Too much fabric for me. I wear petite sizes and this would overwhelm me.

  52. Laurie
    June 1, 2019 / 5:00 am

I really love this whole look. I especially like the dress length, wrap style, and ruffled sleeves. The colors are great. The print is large, but I think the larger print gives the dress a more modern feel than a smaller print would. I would definitely wear this!

  53. Sydney85
    June 1, 2019 / 4:58 am

I would like the dress without the flutter sleeves. I like the length of the dress. I find midi length dresses are my favorite. Shoes not terrible but I would prefer a strappy sandal.

  54. Mary
    June 1, 2019 / 4:50 am

I would wear this with alterations – remove the fluttery sleeves and the flowers. I like the neckline, the length and the fabric belt. I really like the bag. Red shoes with this NOPE

  55. Sandy
    June 1, 2019 / 4:47 am

I am no longer comfortable in anything that is tight around my waist. I wouldn’t wear this at all. I don’t like the ruffled sleeves. If I saw someone with a different shape than mine wearing this at a summer concert, I’d like it….just not for me…

  56. Betty (SC)
    June 1, 2019 / 4:46 am

No…as others stated, the print is really too large and the flutter sleeves are huge… why? But what a pretty shade of blue! This dress would never be in my closet.

  57. Linda Barrett
    June 1, 2019 / 4:46 am

No, i think it would wear me!!

  58. Lezlie Davis
    June 1, 2019 / 4:37 am

I really like it and would definitely try it on!

  59. beth byrd
    June 1, 2019 / 4:34 am

The colors are lovely but the flowers are much too big with that big ruffle. A smaller print with a simple style dress would be very pretty.

    Great tote, though.

    • Ellen
      June 1, 2019 / 6:07 am

I love love love ❤️ all of it.
Alas, it would not let love me back.
I would try it on because I love it so, but I am not 6 ft tall and 120 lbs. It would laugh at me.

  60. Cindy Scheuer
    June 1, 2019 / 4:33 am

I like the print and the color. If they would just take off the ruffle in the sleeve it would be much better. With such a bold print, the dress style should be simple and straightforward. The ruffle just gets lost. While I like the tote, it’s too matchy-matchy with the dress with the overall effect being too much blue. I would do something a little more contrasting.

  61. Cindy
    June 1, 2019 / 4:31 am

No, the pattern is too big and bold for me. The color is nice & the ruffled sleeves are ok. I do like the bag.

  62. Kim Vardas
    June 1, 2019 / 4:29 am

love the tote but I’d wear it with an all white outfit or with black pants and white or blue top.
I love the fabric, pattern and colors of the dress but the ruffle would have to go. I’m too busty and my shoulders are too broad for that much ruffle. I love the style of the dress, would wear it without the ruffle. I’d wear red, white or black shoes . Same colors for a purse though I wouldn’t match the shoe/purse color.

  63. RoseAG
    June 1, 2019 / 4:24 am

No. I’m short and stout. I don’t avoid waists but between the sleeves, wrap front and the sash tie it’s too busy and I’d look even stouter.
I like how they’ve matched the pattern where the dress wraps. The colors are nice and I like the bag.

  64. Wendy Dunbar
    June 1, 2019 / 4:20 am

Love the colors in this print. Love the bag, as someone previously stated. I believe the style of the dress is too ‘young’ for me, but my 30 & 40- something nieces could rock it. Also sleeves would be all wrong for me, as I have airplane shoulders. Like the deep v-neck though. Colors, print very on trend though.

    • Karen
      June 1, 2019 / 8:48 am

I totally agree with this comment. My shoulders aren’t wide but my arms are not for public display.

  65. Marcia
    June 1, 2019 / 4:20 am

Depends where I was going. Eating waterside maybe. Tiki dancing, maybe. Lunch with the girls, maybe.

  66. Janet
    June 1, 2019 / 4:17 am

Hmmm. No. I like florals but I agree they are too big as is the ruffle on the sleeves. Tone both down and I would wear them with the bag.

    • Susan Gowan
      June 2, 2019 / 5:47 pm

I love the colour of blue but would need a smaller flower for print and a narrower shoulder. I like the tote very much.

  67. Gail Schwartz
    June 1, 2019 / 4:05 am

I really like the tote handbag

    • Katelyn K
      June 1, 2019 / 10:15 am

The Tote is Kate Spade Sam Large. I bought it just last week 😉 If you click on Jennifer’s Nordstrom link then search for Kate Spade Sam you’ll find it. Not on the 1/2 yearly sale but if you find for less, Nordstrom price matches.

      • June 1, 2019 / 10:34 am

I do love that Nordstrom price matches. They’re a company who knows how to treat customers.
