Would You Wear It- Bright and White

Would You Wear It- Bright and White

Happy Saturday ladies and welcome to your weekend! My week has been a real bear so I’m thrilled to have some quiet time before me. When things are stressful and life throws me curveballs, I find that paying extra attention to the details of my appearance helps give me more strength and confidence. Do you find that?

It’s time once again for would you wear it with my friend Pam. Each Saturday we share a mannequin and ask our readers if they would wear what it’s modeling. We do this to find out more about your style goals and to discuss fashion in a way that won’t hurt anyone’s feelings.

So tell me, ladies, would you wear this? How could you style it to work for your shape and lifestyle?

Please be tactful and discuss the clothes as they relate to your body and your taste.

The amazing sales continue so here are a few updates-

I wouldn’t but only because I prefer natural breathable fabrics particularly in the summer. I love the look just not for me!

I do own this ruana, which is truly beautiful in person. But I would not style it with a matching color top underneath. Personally, I love Chico’s and 95% of my clothes and my jewelry are Chico’s. This year Chico’s is showing longer ruanas over crops and even shorts. Not sure that I will adopt that style for myself. At 5’7″ I do have the height to pull off longer ruanas but I still prefer those that end at the upper-midthigh range.

I love the top and the pants, and those colors. I wear scarves a lot, around my neck. But I don’t like the draped look of shawls – so fiddly to wear and impractical when eating. , and in my opinion they just look like you are trying to hide your body.

I love love love this color! I’m in my mid-60s, and I’d wear this with a white tank and white (or blue or black)) jeans – not a fan of crops. I like the idea of a necklace with it but that one would feel overwhelming along with the wrap. (I can picture that being awesome with a simple, solid sheath dress.) Thanks for doing this, it helps me think through the looks you present and further define/clarify my own style.

Love the shawl and the color. I have something very similar.

Nope. With the shawl and necklace this outfit would be wearing me, instead of me wearing the ensemble.

I would wear each piece but not together. I feel the top and wrap in the same color is a bIt overwhelming, and you lose some of the detail of the wrap with so much of the same color. With a white, cream or even black top, the wrap would be the star. I like the crops but feel they are too short for this look. An ankle or full pant length would balance the volume of the wrap better.

I would definitely wear this. I love the color and ANYTHING with fringe or tassels just grabs me!!! I do have a hard time finding kimonos that aren’t too long for me though.

I love the color and the embroidery with fringe is beautiful. I only own sheer wraps but this one I’d really consider if it is lightweight. I am always on the hunt for long necklaces that are light for summer, so I would trade one of mine out for the heavy one. I do prefer ankle or full length pants with longer style tops. It’s a definite,” I’ll try on!” It would be great at a BBQ as long as you are not the one grilling–or a night at the movies or dinner out on a patio. Well, I just talked myself into going to Chicos again…

I’d absolutely wear the top–love the color!–and pants. I’m not as sure about the ruana. I love how it looks but I’m not sure I’d like how it looks on me. I have several duster-style sweaters and I have a lot of shawls/wraps so I’m not sure why I hesitate when I see a ruana or kimono style wrap. I think I just need to try one on and settle the “how will it look on me” question once and for all!

I love the pink top and okay with the pants but still for me I like regular length. Wraps can be overpowering so I stick to jackets and cardigans for the most part. It is hot here all summer so unless I go into a cold store or restaurant, wouldn’t need a jacket.
But the top and pants would work with a necklace or scarf. Just don’t care for this one on me. I’m short and small frame. My tall, beautiful SIL would look great in this outfit.

I love the bright color of the wrap but would prefer it to be a bit shorter because that is a lot of fabric for summer. I would wear the top because I like the V-neck & bright color. I would wear it with ankle length pants as crops are not flattering for me.

Love the look and have all 3 items. Would also look slimming if switched out with a white tank…
    Love pink and I’m 70…

    |I would wear the top and ruana if in a different colour, as it is a bit too vibrant for my colouring. The necklace is too bulky for me, so I would swap that out for something more delicate. I find that I now prefer cropped pants as opposed to capris, so would swap those out. A few personal tweaks, otherwise a nice outfit.

Beautiful outfit! I love the bright pink (raspberry?) paired with the crisp white. Adding a statement necklace and ruana/kimono/wrap elevates a simple top and pants from ‘nice’ to ‘wow’. For me, I would want to feel the necklace (sometimes chunky jewelry is too heavy for my personal preference and would prefer a full length pant

Oh, Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Don’t wear ANY type of White pants/trousers/jeans………I’m 5′ 3/4/” tall and that drape would make me look even shorter.

I would not wear it as I am a petite woman and I think it will swamp me, and I am trying to lose weight and all the extra bulk on top won’t help with that. Also I wish I could wear hot pink as I know it is the color of the season, but it just does not go with my olive skin tone. But the necklace and the trousers I would wear. Sorry for the funky week Jennifer its been the same here; my beautiful son is in the military, training, and I have not seen him since late Dec and probably won’t until the end of the year and this pandemic really brings it home how much you want family around. We are living through an unprecedented time.

If I saw this on someone else, I’d admire it, say the color is beautiful and the outfit is nicely coordinated and put together really well. The necklace is a great finishing touch. And I would be sincere in my compliments. I would not personally wear it, however. It’s a typical Chico’s loose top and ruana for older women who want to cover up problem areas. It’s also too dressy for my casual life. I find that one of the ways older women age themselves is by dressing up too much in our very casual society. But that’s just me.

“How older women may age themselves “ may be a topic that Jennifer would address and open for comments. Maybe we try too hard to recreate rather than embrace the person we are today.

“typical Chico’s loose top” yeah I agree. I don’t shop at Chico’s and find it amusing that so many bloggers are into their clothes. I’ve been in Chico’s a few times and never get the urge to try anything on. I find the strange sizing and uber large jewelery big turnoffs.

Tassels would need to be removed and then I would wear it. It would look good over a navy jumpsuit, black jeans and a tee…

I really like this outfit and I would wear it with one minor tweak. I would prefer longer ankle length pants. I love brights and white and this bright pink color gets me compliments when I wear it. If the weather is hot, I would probably exchange the necklace shown for a slightly lighter weight one, similar length and style, just not quite as heavy looking. Adding a ruana is the perfect way to dress up a simple tank on a hot day.
Jennifer, sorry you had a rough week and I hope things get better for you.

    June 20, 2020 / 8:43 am

LOVE the pieces however would not wear them necessarily as shown. i.e.: Though do have the height would see if I could remove the tassel on the necklace for starters, as the last place I want to draw attention to is my waistline. Secondly, feel the pants are too short and would prefer a longer version with the Ruana. As for the raspberry/shocking pink color just shopped my closet for a top that contained it (with a mix of orange) and am making a face mask to co-ordinate since they have become the norm as an accessory … ☺. On that note, sadly to date haven’t seen anything as colorful up here in Canada for summer wear which is a tad depressing reason why I am resurrecting some of my old pieces.
P.S.: Sorry to hear you had a bad week, so wishing better days ahead.

This pink is too strong for me. I tried it during the winter, and it just did not work.

Cropped pants are fine as a replacement for shorts on very hot days, but I am beginning to crave long pants. I have to coat bare skin in a layer of sunblock, then I have to add mosquito spray. Frankly, all these sticky, smelly layers of chemicals are annoying.

  24. Barbara K.
    June 20, 2020 / 7:47 am

I would wear the whole outfit! First of all – hot pink is one of my favorite colors and looks good on me. And the whole sophisticated casual vibe would fit my lifestyle perfectly. A resounding “YES”!

Would definitely wear the rauna! The color is perfect. I’d probably pair it with jeans or shorts and a white shell, pink flats, sandles or tennies, and colorful bangles.

  29. Susan McClelland
    June 20, 2020 / 7:36 am

I love the colour combination. So bright and summery. I would wear the top and pants but not the ruana – too much fabric and knowing me, I’d trip over it. I like the style of the long necklace but to my eye it has a fair amount of olive green, which i don’t care for – personal taste and I’m sure it would look fabulous in someone else.

Sorry you had a rough week, Jennifer.

I love this raspberry color and think it would look good on me with my silver hair and white pants. Not sure the ruana would flatter me, though, because I am 5’1″ and not as thin as I would like. Also, does anyone else worry that these wrap type clothing items might remind people of shawls for old ladies? Now that I am in my 70’s, I think about that!

Love the color and would definitely wear it. I don’t think I would wear the wrap with short pants…would need to be ankle length, at least.
    Unfortunately, I have short legs.

  35. Rose

I love the outfit without the wrap, just too much for me. Plus I would go with a more delicate necklace.

  36. Barbara Thompson

I would wear everything but the ruana. It is just a little flamboyant for me. But, love the top and white pants together.

  37. Belinda
    June 20, 2020 / 6:12 am

This pink, raspberry, is one of my favorite colors and I feel good wearing it. Not sure I would have much use for the ruana but it is lovely. The pants need to be longer, at least ankle length to balance the ruana. The necklace is too much for me. I like the overall idea of this outfit, would have to tweak to suit my body and lifestyle.

I love this Summer Berry color but alas, I have no place to wear this ruana. Being on the short side it would be too long for me. I love the fringe on it and the embroidery. The necklace is a little too heavy and gold so would wear a long white necklace I own from Chico’s. Love it with the white pants, cropped or long!

  39. Connie Haines
    June 20, 2020 / 6:02 am

This is a gorgeous wrap, but not my color. I could see using it as a poolside cover-up, especially if it were offered in a pretty green or blue.

  40. Jan
    June 20, 2020 / 5:48 am

I would really need to try on this ruana to appreciate the color and movement of the fabric. These mannequins do nothing to spark my imagination as to the versatility of these pieces. When I scrolled down and saw the much too short “skimmers”, I was not convinced this was the best look. I might like all white for my tank and slim pants and a much lighter necklace. When it’s warm out, the last thing I want is something too heavy around my neck.

Love the look of the ruana. That color is a fav of mine, have and wear lots of it. Sadly, have tried several ruana in the past & simply can’t wear them well. Just too much, too “flowy”. Love the look on others though.

Too too much for me. I like pink but not that bright. The ruana would look like pjs on me – it’s too much fabric. I would wear the pants if they were cropped or full length. These look like Capri – oh no! The necklace is too big. I like to enter a room quietly.

I love the outfit and I would wear it…if the top and ruana were not hot pink. I don’t feel comfortable in such a bright color. But I do think it would be flattering to my body type. (I’m medium height, with long legs, a short torso and a large bust. V-neck tops that drape are the most flattering for me).

i love this ruana, and ive had my eye on it since it came out…but i recently retired, and im wondering if it would make it out of the closet very much…so with that in mind, i will keep my eye on it, while clutching the coupons they send me….they also have a blue one that is gorgeous, although i dont know what either would work with except a column of white. or maybe black with the pink one.

I’m reasonably thin and T 5 ft3 inches, so I hope the ruana doesn’t overwhelm me, but I’d adjust it…..I love it that much! I think this color combination would be flattering to blondes, brunettes, some redheads, and dark grey haired ladies. All really!

Yes I would wear this outfit. However I am short, so the wrap would probably be too long for me and it doesn’t look like it is a good candidate for hemming.
