Happy weekend and welcome to would you wear it. Each Saturday, my friend Pam and I share a mannequin we’ve taken a photo of and ask if you’d wear what it’s wearing.

There is nothing here I would want to try on or own. The display itself is kind of a mess and just doesn’t give me any reason to want to stop and try these pieces. So I would not wear it. Happy Memorial Day Weekend, Jennifer!

I could not wear the bright yellow pants on the largest part of my body.I would wear the shoes.I love the wig, though I would not not wear it either!

      May 25, 2019 / 6:55 am

I actually have a similar top in a fitted tunic style. I love it & it’s perfect for travel. I like the bright pants color although I would prefer something more fitted, especially around the ankle. I am nearly 6’ so this style looks sloppy on me.

I like the pieces just not together. I’d wear pants but with a white layering piece and probably a chambray shirt. The shirt would be awesome with denim and animal print mules. This display needs TLC.

    • May 25, 2019 / 6:04 am

Thanks for sharing your styling ideas. It does need some help. That hair!

  3. May 25, 2019 / 4:09 am

    Good morning Jennifer,

No! I would walk right on by this display. The colors are way to harsh and the pants look like old lady pants. No belt, vest, styling at all.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

      Happy Memorial Day Weekend Rosemary!

    May 25, 2019 / 4:13 am

I agree with Rosemary above … the colors are very harsh!

I do like the blouse and think it would fantastic with black pants.

The yellow pants look baggy and frumpy. The outfit definitely needs some accessories!

      May 25, 2019 / 6:45 am

Yes, black pants. Very classic. Yellow pants? Not on my hips!

    May 25, 2019 / 4:18 am

Ohhh I would also cover my face if I was her. While canary yellow can be playful and fun, these pants Actually look as they’re being worn back to front.
The shirt print is rather beautiful and more giraffe like. It would look amazing with soft earthy suede colours.

    Happy Saturday ladies!

The wigs are cracking me up. Pants like this never fit my pear shape, and tops like this are too limp for my shape. Wig is fun🤓

This outfit reminded me of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” or “Rhoda”! I mean that in a bad way! I loved their sophisticated, chic/bohemian looks! I would probably, however, not give this outfit a second look if I was walking by. I do like the shirt and see how that could be used as a neutral in your wardrobe. The color of the pants and the way they are styled however are not in my wheelhouse at all. (Sadly, I’m much too thick in the middle to wear them with the blouse tucked in like that) The color is very much of the moment and is fun – if I saw this outfit on a slim friend I would think, “She’s got It going on!” I could pull off the canary yellow in an accessory such as a cute bag.

This mannequin obviously couldn’t see in the mirror before getting dressed. These do not go together! I love yellow, and a white top would look better, IMO. The blouse would work with black pants.

    No. No. No.

  10. Mary
    May 25, 2019 / 4:45 am

I would wear the sandals. The print on the shirt is to loud / big for me, and yellow pants NO! I would wear the pants in navy if they fit better. They look 1 size too big on the model.

  11. Cheryl
    May 25, 2019 / 4:55 am

I actually like this combination. Very unconventional. But then I’m an artist/musician and like things a bit on the edgy side. Pants obviously need some fitting work. I already own a similar pair (that fit nicely). This makes me want to go find a leopard print shirt. I will say the display is not well done at all. I understand why it would turn folks off.

Thanks for sharing your styling ideas with us Cheryl

The pieces don’t compliment each other. The yellow pants could be very fun with other citrus colors or crisp white., even navy. They are too tailored to go with the shirt. I don’t especially like animal prints and I find this one rather ugly and drab .
I’m not a fan of the shoes either.
But the mannequins hairdo is a real show stopper.

  13. May 25, 2019 / 5:13 am

Personally, I like the outfit but I think you’d need to be slim to pull it off – and sadly, I am no longer slim! But I really like the bright trousers/slacks with the animal print. It’s bold and audacious, and I love that!!

    May 25, 2019 / 5:25 am

I like these pieces together and would wear them. In fact, I own similar pieces but never thought about wearing them together. The pants are a littlest paler shade of yellow and I think it will work. Thanks, Jennifer!

    • May 25, 2019 / 8:23 am

      Thanks Ann. Happy Saturday

  15. May 25, 2019 / 5:43 am

I really don’t care for this look…..the pants should be displayed in the correct size, first of all. These are too big for Ms Mannequin! I just don’t like the blouse, no matter the size. Together, nothing resonates. Not for me, nor anyone….hate to be harsh!

  16. Margaret
    May 25, 2019 / 5:45 am

The mannequin can’t find clothes to fit, poor dear!
I agree with other readers that denim and chambray would go well with the blouse.
And, oh my, oh my, the wig is funny!

  17. Sue G
    May 25, 2019 / 5:59 am

My first thought is no I wouldn’t wear it. However these are pieces I would wear individually so I think I would need to try them on together to give a truthful answer.
I like the pant silhouette- the color is bright but not neon so I think they would be fun.
I love the top and would wear it – if the yellow pants didn’t work I would wear Khaki slacks.
    Have a great weekend!

    May 25, 2019 / 5:59 am

I agree with what was said above, it is a messy styling. The pants don’t fit the mannequin well. The yellow color is too much for me, and I think I would like the cheetah print if if it wasn’t black and white, but more in the brown/black color scheme. I agree with the shoes. I would wear them!

  19. Linda
    May 25, 2019 / 6:04 am

No! I agree with Rosemary’s comments totally.

  20. Terri
    May 25, 2019 / 6:20 am

I like it and think it would be a great outfit for work.

  21. May 25, 2019 / 6:41 am

I would not give the outfit a second look. I don’t care for the blouse at all, just too busy and messy for my more structured tastes. The pants aren’t bad but perhaps in another color. As with the wig, I’m thinking display designers are in for the shock factor these days.

  22. Cindy
    May 25, 2019 / 7:11 am

Actually, I like the concept of yellow and black and might wear it in different styles. I can not wear tucked in shirts anymore. Also, the outfit might be really striking if it was accessorized.

    • May 25, 2019 / 8:27 am

I agree, accessories make a big difference.

  23. Susa
    May 25, 2019 / 7:19 am

I’d do the animal print as a skirt and longer top over it so it’s an edgy look. At 70, people are never sure what I’ll be wearing! 70 is the new 50 and that’s ok for me!

  24. Terry
    May 25, 2019 / 7:47 am

I would not wear the outfit as presented. Both pieces are “star” items, and they compete rather than complement. I would wear either one with a neutral supporting piece and complementary accessories.

  25. May 25, 2019 / 7:49 am

It would look better with a long unstructured black blazer or duster over it. It works better an autumn outfit. As is, you’d have to have the right completion, figure and personality.

  26. May 25, 2019 / 8:03 am

I never wear yellow so the pants are out! I do love the animal print blouse. I only wear black and white animal prints so it would work for me.

  27. Rose
    May 25, 2019 / 8:19 am

If the top fit well it would look nice with black pants or jeans. No to the yellow pants.

  28. Kathy
    May 25, 2019 / 8:23 am

I personally like the color combination, but those pants are way too baggy on the mannequin and do not compliment the look. I don’t tuck tops in anymore unless it’s a half tuck. I’m thinking a shell style top in the same pattern would be a better look topped with a summer light duster or jacket in black. I also like the shoes.

  29. May 25, 2019 / 9:15 am

I’m not in love with the yellow pants, but this is one way to do black and yellow together without looking like a bumblebee or schoolbus. Some other yellow maybe.
Kudos to you for differentiating between leopard and cheetah (which has solid spots). However, this pattern isn’t dots but more like a giraffe print (sorry, African animal nut here). Anyway, it’s nice that it’s an abstract print in black and white, something different than the usual stripes.

The display makes me walk right on past it. I would be interested in the one in the background, cropped jacket and midi dress. I think the wigs are great, such fun.
Good luck with your new house.

  31. Kay
    May 25, 2019 / 11:10 am

Maybe I would wear the wig. LOL. I’n not an animal print person, so the blouse doesn’t appeal to me. The yellow is pretty but not on those pants.

  32. Becky
    May 25, 2019 / 11:30 am

I like & would wear the blouse but not the yellow pants. I like the animal print & color of the blouse, but would wear it with black pants. The yellow pants & my figure would not be attractive.

  33. Pat
    May 25, 2019 / 1:37 pm

I like the overall look as I love animal print! I would wear the top with bright pants, probably red. That shade of yellow would not work for me, but a deeper shade like mustard or more gold would be great. Gray pants would be good also. I love the simple black slides. I would look for a statement necklace and a white or straw bag!

    May 25, 2019 / 2:56 pm

Cut of both pieces is fine, cheetah or other animal print is fine but canary on my behind…no, thanks. The canary jacket in the background would be a better piece for my figure.

  35. Lily
    May 25, 2019 / 5:09 pm

Dear lord! If the pants make a mannequin’s hips look giant I can only imagine what they would do for real bodies!

  36. Mumbai
    May 26, 2019 / 2:42 am

I don’t see the reason why you, as a stylish woman, show every weekend lacky and cheap clothes , probably
made from children in the 3rd world.

  37. Diane
    May 26, 2019 / 5:06 am

I like the dress and jacket in the background much better!

Animal prints- always a yes- yellow pants always a no.

  40. Susan McClelland
    May 27, 2019 / 5:35 pm

Talk about a bad hair day! I agree with others that the styling is sloppy. While I would never ever wear bright yellow pants, they would look better with a more form-fitting shirt without such a bold pattern. I would wear it, with a better fitting pants or a pencil skirt (probably black but it could work with jeans).

I’m 70 and CEO of a clothing company and I’d wear this in a heartbeat! Very striking and dramatic. Not for the faint of heart, but what fun is that?
