Would You Wear It – Cheetah Mesh Top

Would You Wear It – Cheetah Mesh Top

Happy Saturday ladies. It’s gloomy and dreary here so I am thinking of popping on the fireplace and binge-watching the hallmark channel to brighten things up a bit. Do you ever do that?

It’s time for would you wear it so grab a cup of your favorite beverage and let’s get to it. Each week my friend Pam and I share a random mannequin and ask if you would wear what it’s modeling. I also love to hear how you would style it to make it work for your shape and lifestyle. I love the conversation in the comment section and am frequently inspired by styling ideas I would not have thought of.

Here is a closeup of the detailing on the neckline and sleeves of this top.

So what do you think? Would you wear this and how?

I like the print, just not this one. The itchy, little ruffle at the neck is not me, nor are the sleeves. It is styled nice, though. I can see it working with black, white, taupe, camel, teal pants or skirts.

This is not my style, so I wouldn’t wear it. Although I do wear animal prints, this one is a little too busy for my taste.

I like mesh fabric. I have a black v-neck mesh top with a double front in my closet. I think it’s at least 8 years old but the style is classic. I don’t like the neckline on this top. I have a short neck so a mock neck isn’t flattering on me. The sleeves are really pretty but I know they’d drive me crazy! I have tops with a wider sleeve and it’s really hard to find a sweater or jacket that fits over them. I’m also not a fan of mixed prints. I don’t care for the mix of cheetah and snake. I like my animal prints one at a time!

This is a lovely blouse. And, while pairing it with black trousers seems obvious, I would pick up the wine colour on the shoulder and pair it with wine trousers or a skirt. Or, if you pair it with black trousers or skirt, add a pop with wine coloured shoes. And, if I paired it with black jeans, I would wear my Kate Spade cheetah print loafers!

I love the idea of picking up the wine color.

I have this top! I was intrigued when I saw it in the store so I tried it on with a pair of black Juliet’s. I am not one to wear ruffles or crazy sleeves but there is something feminine yet slightly edgy about this top. I will wear with a solid black necklace and booties. Try it on if you get a chance!

I have a very similar top. But is button front and longer. Looks great with black leggings or pants. Have even worn it open over a black one piece bathing suit! Very versatile . Fits my 3 way rule. Must be able to wear it 3 ways!

The top is too busy for me. I don’t like the colors, either. I won’t be wearing this one.

With a long tan skirt. I don’t like a high neck though so I would be uncomfortable in it. I’m not over animal print . We will always have leopard.

I think this top is fabulous! It would be perfect for any special occasion and I could picture it with black velvet pants/leggings or long skirt.

Even though my holiday outings aren’t going to happen this year, I’m tempted to purchase it because of the price.

    It’s really lovely!

I generally prefer to use animal prints in smaller accessories (belt, shoes, etc) but I’d be willing to try this one. I’m cooler-natured so I would need a sleeve underneath or a sweater over it for cooler weather; might be a good weight for warmer weather

Would I wear it? YES, however for myself it would be classified as a ‘ statement piece’ worn for a special occasion where I might want to bump up my style a notch. Reasons; actually because of its fabric sheerness, its ruffled neckline and voluminous sleeves. I would only add gold and/or black bangles to the equation, a clutch purse of some kind and my favourite though vintage very open/heeled (Yves St. Laurent /peau de soie) dress-shoes paired with my new black Velvet-teen straight leg pants recently purchased from Talbot’s. (Reference your DRD/Nov. 6th/Hampshire Ankle Pants that ‘fit like a glove’ BTW and were astonishingly received in two days (I’m in Canada) …… hooray! So thank you Jennifer as I used your link.)

Animal print feels costume-y and contrived on me. This top would never make it to the dressing room with me. The sheer floaty sleeves would annoy me, the print is too busy to use jewelry with, and the styling is not interesting enough to compensate for that.
Like so many items these days, all the right components are there, just put together wrong for me.

Both the fabric and the animal print are not for me, but it could be a great party top for someone, if we get to party again.

I actually tried on a top similar to this recently and decided it wasn’t for me. I do not wear ruffles and I prefer a v-neck! It is a nice top though.

I would pass on this. The fabric makes me hot and flashy just looking at it. Although I do like the funnel neck, understated cowl to my eye, the length is good and a dramatic sleeve works for home entertaining, just not for wearing under a coat.

I love animal print but this top is a “no” for me. It’s too disconnected – fitted body, loose sleeves, insignificant ruffle at neck. Had it been completely fitted (scoop neck), completely relaxed (wider ruffle with full sleeves) – I might consider it. But as is… it’s what I call a “nothing”. It would do “nothing” for me but take up room in my closet.

When I saw the tag line “cheetah mesh”, I immediately thought you might be trying to push the animal print craze a bit too far, particularly for someone over 30. But this top is actually not that bad and not nearly as cheap looking as I thought it would be. I actually like the neckline and it could be styled with a wrap or blazer, but has limited personal appeal to me given my much more casual lifestyle. Could see it on one of my tall skinny friends, post-Covid, with velvet jeans for a holiday party.

Love it – especially the details- would be beautiful with black skinny pants, booties and some gold earrings – but sadly we have no where to go! It would also be beautiful and a ‘pop’ under a black blazer and jeans

I probably would not wear the print tops. Simply put, not my style. A little too dressy for my retired lifestyle and I don’t believe that anyone in our circle is throwing holiday gatherings this year. Bummer! FYI- I ordered 3 of those Oblio phone chargers to give as gifts. Thanks for the link!

Mesh? Cheetah? Ruffles? Nope, not something I would wear.

  21. Eileen
    November 14, 2020 / 5:35 am

I prefer natural fabrics, the mesh wouldn’t be warm enough, or cool enough, so I’ve never bought it. It would be useful for my tap group, they like to dance in styles like that ( dramatic sleeves).

I do like the top and would wear as shown with skinny black pants. A gold pendent, or something on shiny/glittery black? The only draw back is I’m always cold, I don’t see this providing much warmth. I like he twist on the animal print.

      November 14, 2020 / 6:37 am

I agree it would not be very warm. Although I like cheetah print I would pass on mesh sleeves and ruffled neck.

Unfortunately the giant sleeves on this one make it a no-go. But it has inspired me to look for an animal print to wear over the holidays with velvet leggings or velvet duster that I already have in my wardrobe and have been searching for a good top to wear.

So when I first looked at this top, I liked the color, print and basic core style. Then, I saw the ruffles at the neckline and the loose, open sleeves. I don’t own any clothing with ruffles! Lol
For me, I would need to add “ruffles” to my imaginary list of accessories to avoid. I do have to wonder if that neckline would be comfortable.
We have made the difficult decision to not gather with our family this Thanksgiving and probably for Christmas, also. We have 3 grandchildren in different universities and two in high school. We are doing this with the plan to celebrate life next year!! Oh, these golden years…
Wishes for best health to all!

I can’t imagine wearing mesh, even my younger, thinner self. I like clean, classic lines in my clothes and just don’t see that in this top. It’s a “no” for me.

Unfortunatly the high frilly neckline would drive me nut always tickling or poking. If it was a button up I would try it on. I like the sleeves and feel they would cover up a lot of problems. I have not figured out what jewellery I would put with this, because I always have to have some on.

I love the animal print but not the fabric….mesh? I cannot imagine me in mesh anything, anymore. I also don’t care for the higher or funnel-like necklines either. It wouldn’t do a thing to flatter me at all. I can’t even suggest any styling hints that a younger person (who might wear mesh) could incorporate into this top. I guess she might wear it with velour or velveteen jeans? Not really sure …….

I like the higher neckline. I would not wear this cause I don’t wear animal prints. It always looks costume like and cheap to me. Happy Saturday!

I love the top! But of course I love animal print. Since it’s sheer, you could add a light wrap or shawl or scarf with it for a different look so you can see the neck & arms.

I love this and would definitely wear it! I like the edginess of the print and the feminine features at the neck and cuffs! Also, the length is just right to hide a multitude of sins!

  32. Linda P
    November 14, 2020 / 4:15 am

I would not wear this top because the print and sleeves are just too dramatic for my style. Also, I think the colors are too warm for me.

I love the fabric, but the high neckline doesn’t look good on me. I do much better with scoop neck or V
