Would You Wear It- Eyelet

Would You Wear It- Eyelet

Happy Saturday ladies. It is a very joyous one in our home. I was finally approved to get the breast MRI, which I had on Wednesday. Yesterday, I got a call from my doctor to inform me that the results showed no malignancy! Nada, zip, nothing. I’m beyond relieved and so thankful for all your prayers.

This has been a roller coaster time for me and I haven’t been holding up as well as I would like. Positive thinking gets me through many tough times, but bouts of doubt and tears would creep in at the most bizarre times. Knowing I had your positive thoughts helped bolster me many times when my spirits slumped, so I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are what makes this community thrive.

Now let’s have some fun. It’s time for would you wear it with my friend Pam. Each Saturday we share a mannequin we’ve seen in a store and ask if you’d wear what it’s wearing. My stores are all still closed so I messaged the manager of my local Chico’s to see what was up. Susan said she was in the store to change the window displays that day and to come on over.

Please tell me if you would wear this look, and if so, how you would style it.

Is this the right shape for your body? Does it match your lifestyle?

Remember to be tactful and keep the comments personal to you.

Here’s what’s trending on AWSL this week-

polka dot crop pants

These polka dot crop pants are selling like crazy! Their classic color combo makes them easy to style multiple ways and polka dots are so perfect for spring.

white capri pants

These high waist utility crops are also very popular. We do know summer is coming so gearing up now is a great idea.

Tips For Looking Stylish Wearing Capri and Cropped Pants

I’m really tardy with a response…sorry. i didn’t feel the problem was the eyelet, but the style. The blouse seems much too dressy to weary with shorts; a skirt seems much more appropriate to me. I’m happy you had good news; must have taken a weight off your shoulders.

That is really wonderful news. You must have had a very special Mother;s Day, and I am sure , no one was happier than your daughter.
Outfit? Not so much. I don’t wear shorts, and am not partial to frilly-dilly(my term for things like ruffles, eyelet, etc.)
    Continue in good health.

Congrats on your results. I have always love eyelet, But I don’t think the sleeves would be practical, as they are too loose at the wrists

Wonderful news on your MRI results ! Continued good health to you ! I would wear the blouse, but being short ( not petite, SHORT) the sleeves would be too long!

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY, Jennifer and so happy to learn that your test results were also something to celebrate. As to today’s garments; though its been years since I’ve worn shorts I would definitely consider this style as do like their fitted cut and feel they are something you could dress up or down. i.e.: Topped off either with a casual tee or a tailored jacket for a dressier look. Whereas for the blouse I’m afraid the the style of the sleeve with the loose elastic wrist would be a turn-off for me as have visions of them being very easily caught up in an object; not mention that their fullness (speaking namely for myself) would be a magnet for becoming easily soiled particularly when I’d be eating … lol!

Wonderful news! So happy for you. Now you can get on with your life and prepare for the day you can visit your daughter again. I love the shorts and would wear them without hesitation. The blouse is a no due to the sleeves. The volume would dwarf me. Again, congratulations on your clean bill of health.

    Celebrate 🎉 Great news!
Love the polka dot slacks! Eyelet blouse needs a collar for me & shorts need to be wider. My knees are heavier than I’d like & no matter what exercise I do they just steal the same.

I am so very happy to hear the good news regarding your health! It must be a huge relief.

I am drawn to this blouse as a classic and timeless piece for a wardrobe. I actually have one that is very similar. I purchased my blouse from Chico’s on sale a couple of years ago because I did not have a flow-y, softer blouse in my wardrobe. My version is in a beautiful ivory and has a nice scoop neckline and beautiful buttons down the front. The blouse is loose so it flows and drapes well, and the sleeves have embroidered details and elastic wrists so I can push them up to show off bracelets. I like it because it is easy to pair with skirts or slim pants for an easy look that is a bit dressier without being over the top. It gives off a more boho, romantic look which is not my general style. Because the blouse is in ivory it will be a keeper in my closet for when I want a softer look. It works great paired with nice slacks or a skirt if I need to go to an event after work. I think everyone needs a blouse like this in their wardrobe!

I love the look of the blouse but I think I’d have fit-issues. I wear a DD cup so button-front blouses tend to pull across my cheek. The sleeves are gorgeous but I have short arms and long-sleeves tend to be too long on me. I loved the look of the black blouse with white pants option shown on the website but I don’t think this blouse is for me! I like the cut of Brigitte style pants but I’m really picky about shorts! I’d have to try these on to see if I like the length on me. I know I wouldn’t buy them in tan/beige. I just don’t like wearing those colors!

Congratulations! Joy! Relief! Your tenacity and the determination of your medical team in advocating for you FINALLY paid off! And then to get negative results…..a slice of heaven! It must feel like you have emerged from underneath a low dark cloud. The best gift of all for this weekend! I am sure you are smiling ear to ear and you should be!

I would have worn those shorts in a heartbeat when I was younger and did not have lymphedema in my left leg. I miss shorts so much! I have a heck of a time shopping for slacks to camouflage my leg. It wears me out. Midi skirts and dresses certainly are a lifesaver! And I am too short for the blouse, plus it looks like it would need to be ironed. I HATE to iron so it would sit in my laundry basket more than in my closet. Enjoy your Mothers’ Day weekend! And again, congratulations on getting the MRI and receiving perfect results!!!

Fabulous news on the MRI results! You must feel so relieved. Wanted to thank you for recommending the Red Leopard site…I’m enjoying the Instagram videos. Ok, no on the blouse because the sleeves would drive me nutty. The black and white polka dot capris are so cute. Have a very Happy Mother’s Day!

So happy about you news. A big sigh of relief, been there. Now you can live with a lightness in your heart, and enjoy life. Like you are invincible, walking on a cloud, and ready to do what you do best and helping others.
I like the blouse. I like way it tailors to the body. The sleeves might work for me, being fuller at the bottom and not at the shoulders, being an inverted triangle shape. I liken the way the material looks, crisp. I like the shorts, but maybe not with the blouse. I’m not into pokadots or vertical stripes, so no to the pants. But maybe to the white pants, if they are not a tight leg.
Excellent post. I love your posts. I have saved many of them to reflect again at other times when needed.
Thank you, and have a blessed mother’s day.

Your relief is tangible. This is blessed news for you and your entire family!! May you stay well, happy, and free from future distress. Don’t you feel like life has just suddenly bloomed again with limitless possibilities??

    Today’s outfits…
I could wear the tan shorts. The white blouse is , for me, too fancy for the casual shorts and the puffy sleeves too big at hip line. I’m small boned and have smallish wrists and hands so those sleeves would swallow them. It’s a pretty blouse for someone though.

I’m not wild about crop pants. They aren’t the most flattering for my somewhat short legs. I wear them because they are year round attire where I live, but never feel attractive in them.
Polka dots remind me of my childhood and I love them.. they are animated and classic. I like that pattern in soft colors rather than dark ones. Probably because I don’t like hard contrast on myself. I made my daughter a navy and white polka dot dress many years ago and it looked perfect on her. Small white dots on navy…I tried it on, and it overwhelmed me.
It’s so important to pay attention to the weight and scale of patterns and color. I’m looking for a yellow and white polka dot shirt to wear with white shorts.

Wonderful news on your medical report! I would definitely try on those shorts, the slim cut, the classic colors…if they fall to the top of my knee and have a slender waist (I need a ‘curvy fit’) they’d be going home with me. The blouse would catch my eye and I might even try it on to see how it looked on me…BUT…The tailored fit of the body with those billowy sleeves seems like a big contrast on the mannequin and they look like they’d be the kind where you had to think about what you’d be doing when you wore it…anything that might catch those sleeves or that those sleeves could dip into? So, most likely I wouldn’t purchase

I would wear eyelet in a dark color like navy but in white I think it would look too girly on me being 56. Not crazy about the sleeves on the eyelet top I think they would overwhelm my small frame.
    Love Chico’s!

I would actually love to have rhis shirt to go with my blue/white striped seersucker pants. I just couldn’t wear it where food was being served. I am so happy for you, Jennifer, regarding your MRI results. Yeah!! I am glad your period of health anxiousness it is now over and you can just move forward into beautiful summer (COVID-19 or not, that sun is out!). As a breast cancer survivor, I could not be happier for you that your results turned out benign. As far as the outfit, I really like the shorts but would not wear the eyelet top. I like the fabric, but those sleeves hanging into everything would drive me crazy.

I am so happy you received such good news!! Like others, I have been wondering and hoping you would get just these results. 🥳 This Mother’s’ Day will be such a wonderful one for you, even though you are apart from your children.
As for today’s out fit, it wouldn’t work for me. I don’t feel confident in any length of shorts any longer and was so happy when capris came along. The eyelet blouse is very nice, but not my style. I don’t know why, maybe a little too feminine. However, I would be tempted to try it on and perhaps wear it as a topper. It would depend on how stiff the fabric is to see how the sleeves would lay. I like the color combo. But me being me, would probably add a pop of color in a scarf or shoe or colorful necklace.

I’ve had my eye on this blouse and plan to try it on when Chicos opens. They say sleeves with adornment and loose styling is a spring trend. I wouldn’t wear it with shorts. I would pair it with printed slim ankle or long slacks.

I know it’s such a relief to get great health news, especially after a prolonged agonizing wait. So happy for you! As for the Chico outfits, I wear those Brigitte shorts for golf every week, going for walks as exercise in our neighborhood and for hanging out around the house. They are so comfortable. I particularly like the length which goes to the top of my knee. However, I am surprised that Chico’s window would show that blouse paired with the shorts. The blouse has way too puffy sleeves for shorts. Chico’s shows the blouse online with ankle pants, not shorts. The description for the blouse states that it is perfect from office to evening. That’s how I would consider wearing it, not with shorts.

What good news, just in time for Mother’s day! I like this outfit but I probably wouldn’t wear them together. I love eyelet as long as the sleeves don’t look like too much for me. I really only wear shorts on the golf course. I just have too many spots!

The top NO!!! The sleeves are so volumous and memorable. I am not a fan of statement sleeves. The style and length of the shorts are fine. I would wear them in navy or royal blue. The polka dot crops pants YESSSSSSS! I would definitely wear those – so cute. I would pair them with a solid tshirt or sleeveless blouse + jean jacket.

Praise God for the wonderful news. You have an immense amount of patience. I would have been hounding the doctor to get the MRI scheduled. I am not patient at all when I have no control over things and I think they are taking too long.

I love the fabric in those sleeves, but not the sleeves themselves. The blouse would look much better with straight sleeves IMO. The blouse is too dressy to be worn with a pair of shorts. Who wears long sleeves with shorts, anyway? I don’t wear shorts because my knees get cold. I love the polka dot crop pants.

Regarding this outfit, I would not wear the blouse. The sleeves are too baggy and those wide cuffs would make my arms look like toothpicks. I’m not sure where I would wear the shorts, maybe out shopping, which unfortunately will probably not happen much this summer!

Fabulous news on the health front!

While I love the look of the sleeves on the eyelet top, I know from experience that much puffiness would drive me crazy. Also I don’t care for the collarless shirt style neckline. I find on me it rounds my shoulders.

As for the shorts, I really want to love them but again from experience I know this is absolutely the wrong length of shorts for me. Hitting just at the knee cuts my legs in half and makes me look short and stubby. They also make my knees look fat and who needs anything that makes you look fat!

So this outfit is a hard no for me. But it could look fabulous on some ladies!

Wow, great news! It’s such a relief for you. As far as the outfit goes, I probably wouldn’t wear it, I love eyelet but those bishop sleeves have a lot of fabric- too much for lil ole me & my short self.

We’re waiting right now for results of my husband’s every three month CT so can appreciate your emotions. Celebrate, for sure! You’ll have to tell us what you did! I like knee length shorts, even a bit longer than these because I’m tall. Knees are definitely not my best feature. As someone else said, the fabric looks like it would show lumps and bumps. It’s not doing the mannequin any favors the way it bunched up. The blouse is pretty, but my life style right now doesn’t give me occasion to wear it. It would be perfect for a summer brunch or dinner on a restaurant patio. Sadly, I don’t see many of those in my future. I wouldn’t wear that necklace. I could see large hoop earrings to balance the weight of the poofy sleeves.

Wonderfully Good News from your MRI report – such a relief to hear! (I’ve been in that same position myself; it’s almost as though one can finally breathe deeply again!).
The blouse is pretty, but I feel it would add too much “wide” dimension through the mid-section for me. I do like the polka dot slacks, and definitely would give those a try.

So glad for your good news! Prayers help so much. I like the eyelet, but feel sleeve is a little too cumbersome. Polka dot pants are pretty…I would probably try them. As for the shorts, no, don’t do shorts any longer.
    Happy Mother’s Day!!!

    Congrats on your good news.
I like this outfit, and would probably purchase it. Love the eyelet sleeves.

Yay! So happy that you got the all clear! What a great Mother’s Day gift!

The eyelet blouse isn’t my style. I prefer a more tailored look. I would try the shorts, although they may need shortened a bit for my 5’ 2” frame.

So glad for your good news! Now you can relax a bit! Prayers were answered!

As for the outfit, the cuffs of the sleeves seem to me to be very cheaply done and unfinished. That bothers me enough to where I would pass it by I am afraid. Not feeling it with those pants either so I guess I would pass on them both.

Congratulations on your wonderful news! I think that’s a beautiful blouse. I love the collar and placket that covers the buttons. The eyelet sleeves are gorgeous, but I know myself, and I would be fussing with them because of fullness as well as the elastic at the wrist. The shorts look great and a good length for me. I think I’ll be ordering those today. Happy Mother’s Day!

Woohoo! So happy your MRI was a good one!

I like eyelet but probably wouldn’t wear that particular top because of the fullness of the sleeves, which, when my arms were down, would add to the fullness of my postmenopausal body. Enjoy your weekend. Happy Mother’s Day!

Hooray! So glad you received good news!!!!

I really liked the longer style shorts and would definitely wear them. The blouse is cute, however the sleeves are a bit too poofy for me. The “poof” would land right at my hip level – not where I want to focus. The cutout eyelet is a great detail, though. As for the necklace, I’m a silver girl, not gold….so I’d have to find something else to wear with the outfit.

It’s great to be thinking of wearing shorts again instead of winter coats!!

Such a relief to hear good news from your doctor! So happy for you. Now for the fun stuff: I do like a bit of eyelet, I think it adds femininity but is not as delicate as lace. A nice addition to my classics. I would certainly try it on. I think I would like it better with a brighter pant and I would definitely change the necklace.

    Great News, thanks for sharing!
i love the blouse but not the elastic sleeves, i just cant, im messing with them all day.
those shorts are great, i have pairs in tan, and black and they serve me very well.
the shorts do look better on me paired with just a touch of heel, i cant do spikes any more but just like a small wedge sandal..the crops just do not work on my shape.

I love that top. I love the simplicity of the collar and the sleeves. I’d wear it with shorter brighter shorts like Lilly Pulitzer ones or cropped jeans. Now we just need summer to arrive. We are getting snow today!

Congratulations on the happy health news! I returned that blouse to Chicos because the sleeves actually covered my hands and I’d be messing with them all day long to keep them up.

So happy for you that you had good news. Once you have been told that you have or might have,go through surgery, etc. It never leaves. It has been 11 years since my lumpectomy and I still get nervous when I need to have a mamogram! Tears are good.(Lets off steam). what a lovely Mother’s Day gift. You will write many many more blogs. Love the blouse. I have several eyelet pieces that I wear as summer jackets. Eyelet was always summer in Miami! Everyone thought it was cooler! Ha Ha! Stay safe for a little while longer! Best!

Great news on the MRI results!
I have to say “no” to both the blouse and the shorts. Adding that large necklace to an already overwhelming white blouse did not work for me. It’s a shirt tail, fitted blouse with huge detailed sleeves. The shorts look like they are made from a poplin type fabric. They would not be a forgiving fabric if you had any issues not to mention the light color.
I imagine myself trying this entire outfit on and not being able to get it back off soon enough.
I would not have the confidence to pull off this look.
    Happy Mother’s Day to all!

Hooray and congratulations on the fantastic news of your MRI results!🎉
Make sure you celebrate! I have been praying for you. Thanks for sharing; was wondering but didn’t want to probe and ask. Love eyelot however the sleeves are too “Pirates of Penzance” for me. Would wear it if it was more tailored. White and tan are a classic summer look.

Very good news about your MRI. I know how it feels to wait. Glad the wait’s over and you have a good outcome.
I would wear both pieces, I think but I wouldn’t wear them together. I like the length of the shorts but only usually wear shorts around the house. If I was doing anything in the house I fear I would get those lovely sleeves dirty (knowing me) so I would reserve the blouse for a time when I would be going out.

That is great news about the MRI. Yes, waiting for medical news is it’s own circle of hell, I think. As for the eyelet blouse- love it but as a large woman The sleeves may be too much ‘added visual space’ where I don’t want it. Love the white / camel combo though; does look very crisp! So, Would I wear it? Not without trying it in & not unless the proportions were right. It’s a beautiful, classic look however on someone who is slim.

I am so happy for your ALL CLEAR…. YAY!!!! It’s the best feeling of relief when you get that call.
As for this look I love the longer length short and find it very flattering for my body shape. The tan is such a classic basic. I would pair it with anything black or white. Although this white blouse is very pretty the big voluminous sleeves are not my style and would make me feel uncomfortable. Something a little more tailored would be my choice.

So happy fir you Jennifer! I know what it feels like to wait for a test result…and when good news results? Hurray!
I would definitely wear the Bermuda shirts and own three pair in tan or beige. Love them!
The blouse us pretty but id wear something a bit more classic/tailored in a blouse or shirt. I’d wear this blouse and necklace with something else as I do like it.
My two go to looks in sultry summer are Bermuda shorts with cool tops or loose linen palazzo style pants.
    Happy Mother’s Day!

Thst is such fantastic news about the negative MRI and with the thing in your chest being nothing to worry about, you can can on with life and enjoy it.
I wouldn’t wear the eyelet shirt because I am short, the sleeves too bouffant and would overwhelm me. I like the spotted trousers and would style them with a fitted t shirt or top. Not loving the white capris as they cut me off at the widest part of my calf and would shorten my legs. The tan shorts I would wear on a hot day or when walking. I would probably style them with a looser fitting top or a shirt (depending on the activity)

I’m glad to hear your MRI turned out negative. Waiting for these things is the worst!

I like tan and white. When my children were little they always wanted to wear shorts to school. My rule was that the temperature had to be going over 70. These were the days when we had the newspaper delivered. Son would get up and go get the paper to look at the weather to see if he could wear his shorts. So, if it gets over 70 I’ll be wearing those shorts!

I would totally wear the shorts and necklace. Love them both. I like longer length shorts…my legs are not my best feature. And a statement necklace draws the eye up. The shirt is a no only because of the bands at the wrist. I hate elastic at the wrist because they tend to ride up during the day and get stuck. If this had a 3/4 sleeve or bell sleeve it would be a yes.

I’ve always loved eyelet. I would wear that outfit in a heartbeat! I need to get some color on my legs first. Don’t fear! It will be from a bottle. The Jergens products are great and priced right. My favorite is the one you use in the shower.
