Would You Wear It- Foiled

Happy Saturday ladies. This past week has certainly been one for the books. Just when we thought 2021 would be such a better year than last, mother nature decides to kick things around. I’m sending positive thoughts to everyone affected by these terrible storms.

Grab a cup of your favorite coffee or tea and let’s have some fun with fashion.

Each week my friend Pam and I share a mannequin and ask if you would wear what it’s modeling. We love to hear your thoughts in the comment section.

Athleisure wear has taken on a much large role in most of our wardrobes in the last year. Brands are meeting that need by shifting direction to design garments their customers need. Some of us are more comfortable than others wearing athleisure and are able to put a unique spin on it to fit our style formula.

How about you? Would you wear this? How would you style this to work for your body shape and lifestyle?

I love you to share your styling ideas so we can all be inspired.

Popular on AWSL this week:

The striped cardigan above is neck and neck with the open front cardigan below.

I have disabled future comments on this post because many were insulting and mean-spirited. I’ve asked for constructive styling comments on would you wear it, as they relate to you, your shape, and your lifestyle.

Blanket statements that are not personal to you and your style recipe are of no benefit and can be offensive to many.

I will need to reevaluate if and how I will continue these posts which are so popular with many ladies.

Be kind and be well.

It’s cute, but I would not wear it. Would not look great on my frame.

I’m not fond of foil prints, but I’m not hostile to them either. I find curious the need to know the stores and the locations of your mannequins, as if there is something suspect in the choices. And upon taking a second look, I think I like the snap hems of the pants. Sort of sporty but not over the top.

I think I would applaud a women wearing this outfit despite these stay at home times! Kudo to the designer. A wannabe.

I seem to be amazed at what is on these
Mannequins. I think you have been going to the same store the last few times. I am so uncomfortable seeing these clothes and feel like this store is missing the mark . Who is really buying these outfits? They certainly are not something I would buy. I would like to know the names of the stores and their location
You never seem to divulge this information
Could it be because you are having your readers critiquing it online?
I would really like to see some classic clothing with a simple more modern look on your mannequins in the near future. We need something that is wearable and wonderful to
Critique or maybe have 2 styles and ask your readers which one would they prefer
A Change direction would be wonderful!

The links to each garment is under the image, Susan.
I can assure you the garments are purchased and worn by many stylish women. If you are asking the location of the store I am in, I will not be sharing that.
I choose my mannequins at random. If you do not enjoy these posts you do not need to participate.

I think it is adorable. The pants are cute but I would not wear it with the top. I would wear the sweatshirt with jeans and a pair of gold earrings with my slip on sneakers or flats to run errands. I think too many people see foil and think it is only for formal wear, or worse, they take a casual top like this and try to pass it off as formal wear. Women of all ages wear things that weren’t conventional in the past, like metallic jackets and heels with jeans. Many of those “rules” our mothers taught us aren’t guides anymore. I think keeping your fashion choices in the past makes one more dated than a foiled top. And–they don’t have shuffleboard on most cruise ships anymore 🙂 Grandma is more likely at a history lecture, cooking gourmet recipies with a chef or taking a computer or photography class. Grannie here speaks from experience…

I don’t like this outfit together. It’s too matchy-matchy for me. I might wear the pants, but not the sweatshirt.

I dress plainly. The design on the top would not flatter me but the buttons at the ankle would. Nice color.

I’m definitely in the minority here … but I think this outfit is gorgeous!

What caught my eye is that the material looks very high quality as well as comfy. I’m not normally drawn to anything too sparkly, but the gold foil is done just right and looks beautiful against the navy.

I’d feel like a million bucks wearing this!!

I thought it had a classy look to it as well, Beth! I can never be sure what will look good on me with issues such as petite height and a short waist, so I always need to try something on to see if if will work for me. With so many dressing rooms still being closed during the Covid crisis, shopping for clothing has been a challenge. One thing I’ve learned from Jennifer is to try not to have preconceived notions about an article of clothing. Being open minded and giving something a chance may deliver a pleasant surprise.

You are not in the minority, Beth. Many, many women love it!!

Jennifer, I’m definitely in in the minority here as I have no preconceived notions on women of any age wearing clothing with a foiled design. This is actually why I’m not a big fan of “Would you wear it?” I notice that the comments on this particular top have gotten increasingly unkind, with ladies comparing it something one would wear to a shuffleboard competition on a cruise ship, describing it as “old lady”, frumpy, cheap and dated. As popular as these posts are with most of your readers, I honestly find that they sometimes turn into mean girls diatribes.

I do love these posts! Fashion. Comments. I especially like the comments. It’s always so interesting to learn how other women perceive the styles and why they would or would not wear them. They pick up on details I may have glossed over and remind me of why I may or may not like them for my height, weight or age. I enjoy everyone’s opinion whether it be positive or negative because it starts a dialogue in my head. I’m often laughing or thinking “yep” or “I hadn’t thought of that.” It’s good to have a sense of humor as well as an opinion on fashion you present.
Thank you for taking the time to do these posts. And I love seeing where you are. I’m a Northern California girl transplanted to Florida. Many of your backgrounds bring back memories.

Like other comments, I believe we have seen this before. I loved glitter and sparkle when I was younger but now at 71 it does scream “grandma” -not that it’s a bad thing, but you know…
