Would You Wear It- Golden Pleats

Would You Wear It- Golden Pleats

Happy Saturday ladies and welcome to the weekend. The days are all running together for me, how about you? Let’s have some fun! It’s time for would you wear it with my friend Pam. Each week we share a mannequin and ask if you would wear what it’s modeling. Please keep your comments personal to you so no one gets their feelings hurt.

I also love to hear your styling ideas. How could you make this dress work for you?

The above window was right next to the one below that has a large floral display.anthropologie window display

It was such a pleasant sight, I sat in my car enjoying it for at least 10 minutes:)

So tell me, ladies, would you wear this golden dress?

How could you style it for your shape and lifestyle?

Here are some of the weekend sales that caught me eye:

Nordstrom -They are knocking the sales out of the park. The sales change daily, so check often.

Tuckernut – for a limited time, and not highly advertised they are giving 20% off everything with the code TNUCK20 at checkout. I ordered this navy and white swing sweatshirt because the shape looks unique and will be great with white jeans this summer.

Talbots – their great spring sale is still going strong with up to 50% off and free shipping over $75

Anthropologie – 30% off all tops and jewelry plus free shipping over $50

Ann Taylor – 50% off your entire purchase plus an extra 10% with the code TAKECARE

J. Crew – 50% off wear-now styles with the code REFRESH

Loft – 60% off when you purchase 4+ full-price styles, 50% off when you purchase 3 full-price styles, or 40% off full-price styles

Now go over and see what Pam’s mannequin is wearing on Over 50 Feeling 40.

Thanks for reading ladies and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.

Yes. I love the dress. I can and do wear yellow. I get compliments every time I do and I think it’s because it’s such a cheerful color.

That floral window display is a sight for sore eyes. I like the white and black dress behind better than the yellow – I’m just not a yellow person.

I love the window display. Sadly, I cannot wear yellow. Stay safe. Xx

I love the dress and I am a spring/summer color person. I am also an inverted triangle as far as body types go so the V neck is good for me. I also like the midi length as my knees aren’t quite as svelte as they once were. Maybe add a choker style or a Y necklace . I would choose a block heel and would check out a wide belt in a neutral shade. A white or cream blazer would dress it up or a denim jacket as a casual look would be an option. Have a happy Easter!

For me it’s a hot mess. The color is wrong for me. The print is too old lady like and pleats?? Don’t get me started on the sleeves. Not on my hour glass figure. It’s more for someone statuesque. Who can take the more sophisticated color. Which is what makes fashion wonderful! One’s girls no no I’d another’ s fabulous look!

Another day, another time I would love this dress. Time does leave its mark though and I couldn’t wear it now. I love sprong colors. They revive the spirit after the dark colors of winter. Have a wonderful Easter Jennifer.

Yes indeed! I live this dress! Bright color that looks to drape beautifully!

I love the flowers in the window also!

I thought about this for a few minutes, because I think I would want to try it on. But, with more curves than the mannequin, I do not believe it would be flattering. But it is a cute dress!

I like the look of the dress though I don’t usually wear yellow as it makes my complexion go a little olive, but I would try it. For my style (I’m 5′ and 120#), I don’t wear this kind of fitted waist (preferring a close fitting A-line instead), however, with a short (jean?) jacket it might work.

A perfect dress to wear to a summer wedding or class re-union-but not in that color for me.
Maybe in a soft blue or pale pink. I like the soft flowing lines and would pair it with dressy sandals and pearls or pastel beaded bracelets.

Hi Jennifer, What a happy sunny dress. I don’t wear dresses that are shorter then my ankles due some vascular issues that “stained” my lower legs. So no, I wouldn’t, but wish I could. ; )
P.S. Thanks for adding a fashion even when you are writing epistles about something else. I appreciate it.

I think the yellow dress feels like spring and summer. I would not wear it but it would like so cute on my granddaughters. I can see why you sat and looked at the flower display. It just shouted summer. Have a blessed Easter and a lovely day.

I like the lines of the yellow dress but I can’t wear that color. I would try it on if it came in a different color. I have a short neck so v-necks are a great look for me. I would wear a shorter and simpler necklace. I love flowy sleeves. I’m not sure if the waist would work on me since my waist is bigger now and I have a small tummy. I like midi-skirts but they have to hit on a slimmer part of my leg so trying them on is essential. I can always hem a too-long skirt but it’s nice to find one that doesn’t need any alterations! Thanks for going to the extra mile to find something to show us for Would You Wear It!

I love the style – V neck , sleeves, & hem line. The color would not be the most flattering on me, but it is very cheerful & makes me think of daffodils that are in bloom now.

    April 11, 2020 / 10:39 am

Sunny color but too intense for me. Love the style (doesn’t look boho to me but with accessories could go that direction) but I know that the neckline would be too deep, the sleeves are too long and the fullness Would hit at my hips, and the hem is wrong. It’s a simple pattern and I might sew it myself and adjust the problem areas to suit me. I think I would use a soft swishy fabric like this and add a wide belt. For my 5’3” height, I would need to wear a high heel with this style of dress, which means that I would seldom wear it and therefore it would need to be made in a fabric and color that would endure for several years so to be worth the effort to make it.
The B& W dress behind the yellow is nice. I’d probably buy that one. It’s more casual and versatile.

    What a cheery post!!

I don’t normally wear brights, but for some reason I can wear yellows in nearly any shade — and this bright yellow dress is definite yes for me. The color is fun and I think the style would be quite flattering for me.

I could wear this dress to any number of occasions — a shower, a wedding (once we get back to socializing), etc. I would also wear this to work now and throughout the summer. The longer sleeves are perfect for an air-conditioned office!

I love the cut and style of the dress and it would be flattering, however the color is all wrong for me. The black and white dress is the background has a nice print but is too shapeless.

Not my classic, simple lines taste, but what a great example of the fun Bohemian style, unless I’m guessing incorrectly.
I would want to hang out with gals who are this expressive!
Happy Easter everyone, and DO get outside and move around, even if you have to dig out your winter pastels or your brightest umbrella ( unless it’s windy!).
    No black this weekend!

    April 11, 2020 / 7:37 am

This is a flattering style, but I don’t wear v necks as a pear shape. And I’m too pink for the yellow color. I would hem to knee for my height. A wonderful color for a redhead!

    April 11, 2020 / 7:35 am

Love the floral background. I like the dress, just not for me. Way too much for my small frame. I kind of like the dress behind it though! Happy Easter!

Love the yellow dress. V-neck, flows sleeves and skirt. Accents waistline. All things I look for in a dress. Not sure about the curved hem but with all the other positives I’d give it a try! I’d loose the necklace, too much going on with the floral print for me. I’d style it with a delicate gold chain and simple pendant that falls within the V-neckline.

This dress could go many ways.

Strappy nude sandals for a dressy look with pearls.

Wedge sandals or white runners and a jean jacket (if it’s cold) for casual lunch or errands!

I didn’t even see the black and white dress until I read some of the comments 😆

On its own I love the pattern and the colour combo. Can’t go wrong with black and white. Not sure how the loose style would fit my frame but I like enough to give it a try. Love the flow-y material, the sleeves and the open neckline.

I’d wear it with tan wedges or flats for a casual look or black strappy sandals and a black wide brimmed straw hat!

I like the boho feel of this dress. But only trying it on will tell if it works or over powers me.

There are things I like about the dress: the V neck, long sleeves, the print of the fabric, length and curved hemline and as Diane said “the swishyness”. But, the depth of the V would probably require a cami (for me, not a deal breaker) and I couldn’t wear that color. It would catch my eye and I would admire it on someone else but I wouldn’t purchase for myself.

    April 11, 2020 / 7:34 am

I love the floral display, but the dress is not for me. The colour is bright and cheerful, but I would feel self-conscious in something that loud. Also, I can’t tell for sure from the photo, but I’m assuming from your title that the skirt is pleated. I’m really not sure why, but I don’t like pleats.

  27. Susan McClelland
    April 11, 2020 / 6:58 am

Seeing this bright dress made me happy! The style is exactly right for me – I would add a necklace that’s just long enough to sit above the v in the neckline. The colour may not work for me but I would try it on anyway. I think it would look great with open toed shoes or a sling back. The flower display is amazing.

    April 11, 2020 / 6:48 am

Although it’s not my style or color, I think it’s a really attractive dress. I like the curved hemline. I can see why it was put in a window display. It really catches your eye.

    April 11, 2020 / 6:21 am

That bright yellow dress is the perfect thing to wear in a store window! (I hardly even saw the poor manikin standing next to her) It really catches your eye next to the beautiful flower display. Love the neckline, the sleeve and the flow of the skirt. In another color I would have been tempted to try it on – for me, a navy with that yellow in the print. I think too it works best with heels. I have been thinking about dresses more, something that didn’t fit my lifestyle for years.

  32. Gladys Feliciano
    April 11, 2020 / 6:17 am

not in yellow, not my color, but powder blue or coral would work for me. I like that the dress hangs nicely. I much prefer the one nest to it, but with a sle3ve I could roll up. The display is very uplifting, so thank you for that.

    April 11, 2020 / 6:03 am

The first thing I noticed was the floral background, and I would love that in my house right now. As for the dresses, no to the light one in back, and if the yellow one was another cooler colour, a definite yes. I like the length and ‘swishyness’ of the hem, and the neckline. The sleeves are great because I could push them up to whatever length I preferred for the day. I would put a belt on the waist line, even though mine is not really there anymore. It would just make it look more finished. That is a dress I would wear almost anywhere, as I said if it was a different colour. Thanks for the great window shopping, it works for me. P.S. I would wear a flat shoe or low wedge in a blush colour as that is one that would disappear on my leg line.

    April 11, 2020 / 6:02 am

I don’t wear yellow! I like the style of the dress and the length for a summer day. If the dress was all or mostly cotton and a solid color — navy, royal blue, periwinkle I would try it on.
I’m shortwaisted so the black/white dress is a no for me. It also looks very busy and the sleeves & tiers would overwhelm me.
    Happy Saturday!

I look awful in that yellow color, but the shape and style are nice; however, I really like the other dress behind it much more!

    April 11, 2020 / 5:58 am

I actually had a dress very similar to this many moons ago that I sewed with matching belt in aqua/white print!! I don’t wear dresses anymore but if I did this would be nearly perfect. However, I don’t/can’t wear yellow and the V neckline is too low for my taste. I LOVE the floral design in the second photo and can see it as a watercolor painting….hmmm gives me an idea! Thanks for the beautiful backdrop photo to highlight the focal point, Jennifer!

I have to say “no” to the golden dress even though the v neck and long sleeves would work for me. There is too much fabric around the mid section and the color is not for me.
But,the soft, flowing dress next to it is more my style and color. I just don’t want to wear anything that I have to work too hard at making it work.
I am sure there are a lot of ladies who could “rock” that golden dress!
We have snow in the forecast for Easter so there will be no outdoor activities around here.
    Stay happy and healthy! 🌸🌷🌼

Love the flower display! I like the dress, but that color would do nothing g for me, but it’s a nice style! Have a wonderful Easter Jennifer!

  39. Linda GR
    April 11, 2020 / 5:45 am

I’d have to try it on. I think I could wear that color, and I like the style. My only concern is that I wear petites, but I’m long waisted so I purchase waisted dresses in misses and lose lots of hem. That would not be a problem with this dress as it appears to have an uneven hemline, so I’d have a nice even hem. I love the floral window display, so cheerful.

  40. Sue Daugherty
    April 11, 2020 / 5:43 am

I would wear that dress in a heartbeat. I would prefer it had shorter sleeves but the color would be great on me.

  41. Linda V
    April 11, 2020 / 5:23 am

I just never wear yellow, it is not one of my colors. I do like the styling of the dress.

  42. Susan R
    April 11, 2020 / 5:22 am

Hurray! A v- neck dress with sleeves that’s not thigh high! V- neck for its body slimming/ lengthening properties and sleeves to cover crepey arms. I want this dress in another color. Blue, aqua, pink? I can only wear pale lemon yellow, not the gold because my skin goes greenish. I’m also really short ( under 5’) and the sleeves might overwhelm me. I always have to shorten my clothes, so I’d make a wide long belt to double cinch my waist to create some shape. My fantasy version is made of drapey silk so wouldn’t add bulk to my small frame. And only wear this with heels …delicate sandals or wedges. The necklace is too long for me. I’d wear a less bold one that lands on the center chest, and gold not silver. And a straw hat with a not-too-large floppy brim. Now point me to the Easter bunny!

  43. Kathy
    April 11, 2020 / 5:07 am

GM. Love the sunshine color but I wouldn’t wear it. I like a longer skirt and a higher neckline.

  44. Paulette Levy
    April 11, 2020 / 4:57 am

Hi Jennifer. The color is not one I usually wear, but I love this dress. I would hem it if possible, to be at knee, rather than below (for me). I love the tiny print as I’m not a fan of big florals. I love the sleeve and LOVE the V-neck. I don’t wear heels but maybe a wedge, which is not as difficult with my bad knee? I’d have to try it on, determine if that flouncy hem does lend itself to hemming and is becoming to my legs.
One of the reasons I would hem the dress is that length seems to need a heel, at least to my eye. I just don’t see it with flat heels.

  45. Lynn
    April 11, 2020 / 4:52 am

That is a gorgeous dress. I can not wear that, too short and hippy but I think it’s stunning. And so versatile: boots, pumps, sandals, flip flops, any foot wear and a big hat. Gorgeous.

  46. Wendy Funbar
    April 11, 2020 / 4:44 am

I would mostly echo what others have said. The color is wrong for me- I’m an autumn. 😌 When I was young and worked in an office however, this was my go-to style. Love the v-neck, the ‘hippy’ vibe, how the skirt floats away from the body. I rarely wear a dress these days unless it’s a maxi. So, no, I would not wear it now. Too ‘young’ for me.

  47. Linda Phelps
    April 11, 2020 / 4:39 am

The style of the yellow dress might work, but I cannot wear that color.

    April 11, 2020 / 4:19 am

Yes to the floral display window. I would like to post it in my window right away to bring good cheer to the neighborhood.

But, I would look bad in the yellow dress. My coloring is too pink, my figure too flat to make it work.

    Thanks for a fun post.
