Would You Wear It- Leather and Sequins

Happy Saturday ladies. It’s time for would you wear it so grab a second cup of coffee or tea and let’s have some fun with fashion. Each Saturday my friend Pam and I share a mannequin we’ve photographed and ask if you would wear what it’s modeling.

I like us to also discuss styling options so I ask you to share how you might wear the outfit. How would you style it? That way we can inspire each other.

What are your thoughts? Would you wear all or part of this outfit and how would you style it?

  1. The jacket is outstanding. It is nicely edited so that there is not all the usual razzmatazz of leather jackets all over it. The season may call for shine but the sequin skirt may be a little much with the deep slit up the side. Leather and sequins together sends out the wrong message.

  2. I like it, but as a short person, would prefer the jacket to have cleaner, simpler lines. Not so motorcycle-y.

  3. Susan McClelland says:

I would wear the jacket – it could be worn with jeans (any colour), skinny pants, dresses and skirts. Plus a boot, including my forest green Doc Martens. Not sure about the skirt – i tend to look better in A-line styles than straight skirts.

  4. Barbara Heisler says:

I like it on the model but probably wouldn’t call attention to my midriff with a sequined skirt, and I’m not terribly over weight–just age– not the flat tummy on the model.

  5. I love wearing diamonds with everyday outfits and a lace blouse with jeans but there’s just something here I don’t like. The jacket just feels too stiff for the top and skirt. Separately I would wear them but not together. The jacket with jeans and a white shirt, black boots. The top and skirt with a pretty wrap would be a yes.

  6. Pamela Over 50 Feeling 40 says:

I would not wear this display for many reasons…first it is not in my best colors; moto jackets are not flattering on me; and while I like a touch of sequins this skirt would be too much. I do have some events this year, but will be going for casual chic…this is a little over the top.

  7. I would wear it… Thank you for the idea!!

    Have a great day!!

    1. I like the look of the outfit, but would only wear the jacket and top. The sequin skirt is too much glitz for me. The jacket and top are very versatile and could be worn with denim, other pants and skirts…even a floral skirt.

  8. It seems like most events never require anything more than smart casual attire these days, but I love pairing a black leather jacket with pieces that are dressier to make an outfit that is a little edgier and less formal looking. In this case, I would swap out the Victorian style blouse for a fitted cashmere sweater and substitute black booties and tights for the open toed sandals. I admit, this might be a “fantasy self” outfit for me–I’m not sure if I would actually be comfortable pulling off that much bling. However, cutting down on the glitz by pairing the jacket with a sequined top and black skinny pants or jeans would definitely be a look that I would love to rock during the holidays!

  9. Yes I totally would wear it but with western booties or combat-type of boots. Perhaps not this precise skirt because it looks a bit too synthetic for me – but in principle, heck yeah.

  10. While I don’t have the chutzpah to wear this, I like it alot. Like the mix of feminine/masculine or hard/soft.
On the right person it could be a showstopper. Though I think a pointy toe black bootie (with perhaps some silver adornment or buckle) would be a cool footwear choice 😎!

    1. Agree 100%
Even if I would be the most dressed up at the party, love this juxtaposition look of masculine/ feminine. Would replace the frilly blouse with a black turtleneck otherwise love this outfit! Now to find an event to go to………

  11. Sharon E Burkhardt says:

Yes I would definitely wear the sequins with the leather. I like the juxtaposition of the textures and the unexpected combination. I love the post of all the outfits today.

  12. Like others have commented, I’m petite and the skirt wouldn’t work. I probably wouldn’t wear it anyway, too dressy. I’m too conservative to wear a moto jacket, but I would love a black soft leather, less embellished jacket. By the way, I hit Talbot’s for their 40% off sale, and with my cardholder coupon for 50% off one item, I helped my husband do his Christmas shopping for me (wink, wink) from my favorite store! Hope the promo is allowed in comments!

  13. I would wear the jacket but the skirt a no thank you. Together or separate, still no. Just not me.
Pam’s mannequins have too many ruffles.
I like the prints just not the ruffles.
Very Holiday looking, just not me.

  14. I like the combination of sequins and leather and this outfit would be a classic one that I would wear again and again for different occasions . I wouldn’t buy that skirt unless it was well-lined as I would be afraid of damage to the sequins, or that the sequins would bite my legs!

  15. Since the skirt to me is more for special occasion wear; I would nix the faux leather jacket and replace both it and the top with a black angora rabbit or mink cashmere pullover/long sleeved sweater in my favourite style. Footwear would consist of a full/heeled dress shoe worn with lightly silver glittered sheer nylons. Neckline of the sweater would dictate the length of most likely, a single pendant necklace (otherwise I might just op for earrings depending upon my hairstyle) and the handbag would be structured and small in scale that would work with the shoes. -Brenda-

    1. Ooops, that should have read ….. ‘ or shimmer sheer’ nylons.

  16. I think a white cashmere pullover, semi fitted sweater, and silver strap heels would look better.
    No biker jacket.

  17. Patricia Franz says:

I definitely could see this on someone else. I’m petite so the skirt wouldn’t work for me, because of length and really don’t want eyes drawn down, too choppy, and too much going on for petite. But on a taller figure it would be great.

  18. I’m not a sequins person. A little bling is okay but I prefer it come from something other than sequins and would prefer it framing my face rather than across my derriere so a skirt made of sequins would be a firm no for me. The slit seems deep in that skirt (probably necessary with that slim cut) and amount of elastene probably wouldn’t be flattering on my body. But, I like the look of leather/faux leather and that jacket could be dressed up or down, casual to dressing, day to evening.

  19. I would most certainly wear it if I went anywhere “dressier” and if I was younger. Now I might wear with a sequin top and jeans in an attempt to keep it casual.

    1. Our parties are much more casual too these days.

  20. I’d definitely wear this if I had a holiday party to go to this year. I love the combination of leather and sequins. I think it would be cute with silver earrings and black booties too.

    1. I love the booties idea

  21. I like this outfit. It would be great for a holiday party. Definitely in my younger days but not so much now but I still really like it. Our parties lately are more casual.

    1. Ours are more causal too and I miss wearing fun things.

  22. I love this outfit. I would definitely wear for a night out or to a party. I live in south Florida so I would maybe pair it with a lighter shirt but this is definitely very cute!

  23. I love the sequined skirt, and if I were younger would definitely wear it. However, the leather jacket looks very stiff, so I would put a softer, richer looking jacket with it…..maybe that has a small touch of bling on it to pick up that from the skirt.

  24. I have an old black sequin skirt and a white leather jacket to mimic this look. Love going in my closet and finding retro garments for a new look! Thanks for the inspiration!

  25. Paulette Levy says:

I think depending on where you live this outfit might fly for an evening holiday party. Around here you might need to replace the faux leather jacket (its freezing cold here!) with a black or grey puffer coat and leave it at the door once inside. So you’d be in a black sweater – hopefully one with a bit of bling and that great skirt! With it I’d carry a silvery clutch. Optional: a great pointy toe pair of black boots! Silvery earrings ? GO!

  26. I would not wear the leather and sequin outfit. It’s just not me. However, I have a friend that would look great in it. We all have our style. It is more fun when we all don’t look the same.

    1. I agree! Variety is way more fun

  27. Okay, this is a super fun outfit! I love sequins. I wonder if your bottom is covered with sequins, when you stand after sitting, is there an imprint? Alas, these days I would neither spend the money on this outfit nor have anywhere to wear it, but It would be part of my fantasy wardrobe.

  28. LOVE this outfit! Definitely a cool mix of dressy with edgy. Also like color mix. I may swap blouse out for a graphic t-shirt for another option

  29. Ginna Schneider says:

No, I wouldn’t but I it is a great look for those who would. Very chic.

  30. I’m not a sequins person, but I would definitely wear leather with a dressy or feminine fabric like satin, silk or lace. I think it’s fun to mix it up like that.
