Would You Wear It: Metallic Blazer

Would You Wear It: Metallic Blazer

Welcome to the weekend! I am trying to get my act together and packing like a mad woman. I leave for Vancouver tomorrow, then my daughter and I fly to Japan on Monday. I’ve checked the weather report and think I’ve planned for every possibility but expect to be surprised at some point. What’s the fun of a holiday without some surprises?

If it’s Saturday, it must be time for would you wear it. Each week, Pam Lutrell of Over50Feeling40 and I share a mannequin we have seen and ask if you would wear what she’s wearing.

We do this to learn what you do and don’t like about current fashion. Please explain why you would or would not wear something as it relates to your body, lifestyle or taste.would you wear it on A Well Styled Life

So tell us why you would or would not wear this look?

Here’s your weekend sale update:

I like this look a lot! The
jacket is not boxy or box-like as so many stores seem to think Senior women like. We don’t all like to look like that! I need to emphasize my waist and look better when a waist is defined. (At least I think I do)!
Now onto the fabric here? What is it? One of the reasons I purchase in stores rather than online is that I need to touch the fabric. If this is a fabric which is too artificial in feel, it’s a firm no no.

I didn’t touch it but it looks rather stiff to me, Paulette. I like things with shape too!

Yes! I would wear it…the color is perfect for me and I love the design of the jacket. It is chic and trendy at the same time.

Yes, I would definitely wear this jacket. I love how they kept the look simple — it really enhances the beauty of the jacket!

i would definitely wear the blazer, but in a different color. I’ve got dark hair and a fair complexion. This color makes me look like a corpse ????

Love the cut and style, but hate the color. In another color, I would definitely wear it.

Love the entire look! The cut of the jacket is wonderful and I love the buttons. I would look for a different color but would at least try it on. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

I might wear the jacket in another color, but I usually stay away from metal buttons. Can’t stop staring at the ruffled hem pants.

Lol, I saw those pants too Mary. They appear to be fringe.

Yes, I would wear it except the jacket would be better in a cooler colour to flatter me. The shape, style and dramatic colour are great and the pants are flattering and stylish. Finally, something I would wear!

I love it! I love the satiny sheen of the fabric. What a great way to dresss up an otherwise plain outfit. I think it would look great over jeans and dressier trousers.

I like how it tucks in at the waist and the stand-up collar gives it a military flair.

I love the fit & style of this jacket! I would wear it, if it was in a different color that more suited me.

Not in that colour but a cooler colour would have me trying it on. My mom always said that shiny clothes makes your wrinkles more noticeable. Is that true? I was young at the time, now it matters to me!

      Shiny clothes do enhance wrinkles;)

Yes, I’d wear it! I still have a waist and most fashions are a bit sack-like which adds more weight to my already curvy body. It’s cute and could be paired with slacks or jeans.

Very Beatles inspired….love the jacket but maybe in a vivid green. Pants are different and cute but not for my full figure.

Yes I would definitely wear it. Love the metallic color. I have a black jacket with this kind of cut and it is very flattering.

  15. October 20, 2018 / 7:03 am

No I would not wear this jacket. First of all, I do not like the color of the fabric and secondly, I do not like that mandarin collar. If I wear this type of neckline I feel like I am being choaked! The pants I would not wear because I think they would look awesome with heels and I cannot wear heels at all. Would look odd with sneakers.

I agree it would be hard to pull off these pants with sneakers.

That’s a nice jacket, even though my lifestyle is not metallic inclusive.

I wouldn’t wear the jacket — don’t like the color, the sheen, the collar, the buttons, or the pocket placement. Reminds me of an old couch from an unpleasant era. I wouldn’t wear the pants (jeans?) — don’t like the overly-trendy bottom frills. This outfit is too stuffy for my lifestyle/preferences.

  18. October 20, 2018 / 8:01 am

No, I would not wear it. Too fitted for the extra weight I carry between the girls and my waist. As far as the fabric goes I like a little metallic, but this is more than a little. However, I might like a jacket in a silver metallic!

The collar is a plus! The color and sheen isn’t good with my coloring. However, I do like the style of this jacket.

No I wouldn’t wear this color, but it looks well made and expensive, someone with red hair would look great in it. The length and fit are too straight for my pear shape, so I don’t have many current blazer looks, I prefer a vintage cropped jacket cut for curves.

  21. Susan
    October 20, 2018 / 8:49 am

I love the cut, fabric, and details of this jacket, but can’t wear this gold color. Is it available in silver? I agree with others about loving a nipped-in waist on jackets. I have a question about the jacket length. I love it in general, but sometimes feel funny that my underlayer (mostly tees, sometimes tanks) is a few inches longer, particularly if it contrasts with my pants. What do you think about a shorter jacket and a slightly longer underlayer?

    • Jennifer

      October 20, 2018 / 11:24 pm

I do wear a shorter jacket with longer layers underneath. I even wear them over longer blouses!

  22. October 20, 2018 / 8:52 am

I love the style and fit of the jacket. My first step would be to feel the fabric. If it wasn’t too stiff, I would try the jacket on as I’m not sure what that colour would look like on me.

Have a fabulous trip! I can hardly wait to hear all about it.

It’s way too flashy for my taste, so no I wouldn’t wear it.

I love it! The whole outfit, from the shiny jacket to the fringed skinnies! The jacket would look great dressed up with a skirt or trousers for an evening out. Add some gold hoops and heels to finish off the outfit. The skinnies could be dressed down with a jean jacket and flats for scooting around doing errands or meeting for coffee. I think this is my favourite outfit on Would You Wear It so far.
I’m excited for you and your daughter’s trip to Japan. Exploring together will be so much fun and a great shared experience.

The color would be awful on me, and I do not like mandarin collars at all. So, no, I would not wear this jacket.

  26. Becky
    October 20, 2018 / 11:32 am

I would wear the jacket in a different color. I like the style of the jacket, but the color would not be flattering to my complexion. I wouldn’t wear the pants. The ruffles or fringe around my ankles would not be a good thing. I think the top under the jacket might be something I would wear also but would need a better look at it.

I like everything about the jacket except the color. That color does not work for me.

  28. October 20, 2018 / 12:17 pm

I’d wear that in a NY skinny minute!! Not sure that’s my color, but oh, yes! xoxo, B

Wouldn’t wear it! I don’t like this color.. maybe on a redhead, not me
Looks sort of Michael Jackson ish.
Tights are cute with the ruffles!

I own a similar styled jacket in colors that go well with denim, so yes I would wear this one if only it weren’t this color.

  32. Diana
    October 20, 2018 / 8:56 pm

Interesting! I would have to see how it looked on me. It’s one of those pieces that are interesting on the hanger, so to speak, but is iffy if it would look good on my body type.

I think this is one of the best dressed mannequins to date. I have light warm coloring, so I can wear this color. This year I bought a jacket by Sanctuary that I love that is in a very similar color. Most of the womens fashion world, including the blogosphere, is geared towards women with cool coloring so I always appreciate seeing things in the warmer color palette.

However, I can no longer wear shiny fabrics and the Mandarin collars would not work with my bustline so this would not be a flattering look for me.

Yes! I love everything about this jacket — fabric, color, cut, collar. . . this would be a wardrobe staple for me!

I’m afraid I would look like a big “foil wrapped” burrito in a metalic jacket!

  36. October 25, 2018 / 5:06 am

I love it! I’d consider it but… at the moment, I don’t know that I’d buy it. I’ve gained weight and my breasts are so big they complicate everything I do. It’s not bragging, believe me. I just can’t find anything that doesn’t make them look even bigger, except basic black, which I like, but I wish I could do colors, too.

Every image of me looks like an old woman with big boobs. I hate them all. So, I’d look at this outfit and love it, but I don’t buy anything online anymore and I seldom get out to the store because trying on clothes just makes me cry.
