Would You Wear It: Multi-directional Stripes

Would You Wear It: Multi-directional Stripes

Happy Saturday ladies! We have a busy weekend ahead of us with some travel and great friends which I am really looking forward to it. We’re heading back to the Bay Area so will get a nice break from the heat.

Welcome to would you wear it. Each Saturday Pam from Over 50 Feeling 40 and I share a mannequin we’ve found and ask if you would wear what she’s wearing?

It’s unkind to critique another woman’s fashion choices but these dummies don’t care what we say so have at it.

Would you Wear It: Multicolored Stripes

I share my thoughts on clothes all week so this is your chance to tell me what you think. Would you wear this top and why or why not.

Talbots is having their Friends & Family sale. You get 40% off everything with the code FRIENDS40 at checkout. I’ve linked some fun pieces below.

Now let’s pop over to see Pams mannequin.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.

I like the style of the striped blouse. I would wear it.

I do not mind to design on the fabric, but do not like the tie on the bottom. I like my tops to lay flat. If it did not have the tie, yes I would wear it.

I don’t like it at all. Looks like a hot mess to me.

Not sure about the tie depends on how it lays when it’s on. Otherwise I actually like the stripes & think the colors look fun & bright! Nice scoop neck & sleeve

I like the color combo. I don’t mind the multidirectional stripes…is there a link to the store you found this at? Would you please share where you found it? Cheers!

Sometimes the multi-directional stripes can be very flattering….it is the style of the top I would not wear because it would not be flattering on my curvy figure and would make me look larger…so for me it would be a no.

I would wear this, only wish we had some of these stores in Canada.

There are most definitely Talbots in Canada! They are located in Ontario, B.C, Alberta and Nova Scotia. They also have an online store. Never lament that certain stores don’t exist here. I simply Googled Talbots Canada et voilà!
A comment or on another blog was sad that there were no Nordstroms here either…wrong. Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver have Nordies. As well they have a great on line presence and price in Canadian dollars. Nordstrom’s customer service on line is exceptional….

        Nordstrom is also in Calgary.

I don’t like the ties at the bottom. They make the top look bulky, and it would probably not lie right. Otherwise it’s okay. I would probably wear it around the house or for a grocery run. Otherwise, not!

Yes, I would wear this entire outfit. I like the colors and the multi-directional stripes. The tie doesn’t bother me.

    Too busy.

Love the fabric … my figure type (slightly pear shaped and tall) would need no tie on the bottom and hemline hitting below my widest part.

Not for me. I like to tuck my tops in keep my look tidy.

I definitely would wear this – love the color combo and the stripe pattern is interesting – not offensive. Love the current trend of tie front tops also!! Happy Saturday!

YES! I love everything about it! Now off to try to find it.

I do like this top! The colours are fresh and the stripe pattern keeps your eye moving. I would wear this.

  16. Cindy

I like the colors but the pattern is a little too busy for me, & I’m not a fan of the tie.

The multi directional stripes don’t bother me at all but I would like it better if it were just two colors like blue/white or black/white.

  18. June 16, 2018 / 6:28 am

I’m not a fan of the pattern or the style of the top. The front tie would perhaps be better off to the side. Pants in of one of the colors in the top, or white, might also help lift the overall look of the outfit. The black seems to pull the whole outfit down visually, for me, in an unpleasant way.

I don’t like the low center tie for me. It’s one of those items I thought was good on others but not me.

  20. Eileen
    June 16, 2018 / 6:56 am

No, being a pear shape, the tie would fall too low, and the print would distort around the hips, sleeves too short. As to Pam’s blazer, no, it looks to be of a low quality, both in print and fabric, same for the top.

  21. Diane
    June 16, 2018 / 7:14 am

I do not like this top at all. I would not wear it because I’m 5’1″ and I just know from experience that the low tie would not hit me at a flattering place. I’m not crazy about the print either because it is very busy for small people.

Striped top is really cute and fresh-looking. I’d definitely try it on but I’m not sure how that tie would look on my tummy either.

  23. Linda J.
    June 16, 2018 / 7:37 am

No, I would not wear it. I think it is cute but all wrong for my shape. The tie adds bulk. I have tried diagonally striped clothing but it does my shape no favor.

  24. Becky Sharp
    June 16, 2018 / 7:46 am

I really like the stripe pattern and if the top had a straight bottom I would probably purchase it. However, I have had tops with similar bottoms/hemlines and frankly the tie never looks good.

    June 16, 2018 / 7:58 am

I like the shirt but not the colors. Definitely would have to try it on and see what it looks like on me. I don’t mind bright colors as they add something to the neutrals I usually wear. The tie would be better if it was on the side of the shirt.

  26. Linda
    June 16, 2018 / 8:21 am

I wouldn’t wear it. I don’t like the tie on the bottom!

Actually have a similar top that I bought on a whim and I ended up loving the tie top. It camouflages a slight tummy very effectively and is just a fun look for summer. I’d try the stripes (mine is a black and white graphic print and those look better on me than florals, etc.) I’d also rather wear it with white pants, not black.

I have worn multi-directional items in the past, but would not wear this top. The colors and tie front are all wrong for me. I do like the idea of stripes that confuse the eye and act like camouflage.

  29. Tess
    June 16, 2018 / 9:34 am

I would not wear it. To me it looks frumpy.

  30. Sharleen
    June 16, 2018 / 9:38 am

While the colors in this top are not in my cool color zone, it is a good top for someone with a rectangular figure as it detracts from the waist.

    June 16, 2018 / 10:23 am

I like this outfit. The t shirt would need to be more fitted on me with the stripes. Otherwise it would look big. I haven’t done anything with ties to know how they would work, but as a shirt with dark jeans. I like it.

  32. Mary Lou
    June 16, 2018 / 10:24 am

Not for me- sleeves too short, colors and stripes too busy and tie at waist not for me.

  33. June 16, 2018 / 10:54 am

I have a couple of tops with multi directional stripes that I enjoy wearing, but the colour combo on this one is too overwhelming for me. Otherwise, I like the style.

This Tee is THE definition of summer casual. I would definitely wear if the fits and proportion flatter. I imagine wearing with white or navy crops anywhere resort attire is welcomed. In fact, I like it so much, checking if my local Anthropology has my size in stock. Thank you Jennifer for discovering this updated take on 70’s haute couture fabrics.

I love this!! Love tie and twist front shirts and tees because they hide a slight pooch. I can’t do the partial tuck in look and this style is a perfect solution. The other patterns this shirt comes are also great. Off to Anthropology!

I’d definitely wear it! It’s festive and lively and would draw attention up towards the face!

  37. Barb

That would be a no. Don’t like the erratic stripes, shape or tie, which doesn’t leave much to like.

Absolutely! Every gal needs a striped top in her closet…it’s basic! 🙂
Actually, I just ordered this one. I like everything about it, especially that it will go with so many different bottoms!!

  39. Pamela
    June 16, 2018 / 2:05 pm

    Love it. Want it.
This is exactly the kind of creative color and pattern combo I love for summer. I like the tie too- I think it draws the eye away from a bulge and adds verticality.

I’m afraid not – it actually makes me dizzy!

No way. Hot Mess for sure! Aaaacccck!

No, it is just too busy for me, too much going on.

I would definitely wear this top. I am a big fan of stripes and I love the colors.

argh!! says old lady really loudly. While I do like to embrace lively and fun in my clothes, this pattern is chaotic, jarring, and not at all pleasing to my eye. No way to save it., even with neutral pants.

  45. RoseAG
    June 17, 2018 / 8:39 am

I’d consider it. I like the colors, but I’d prefer the tie be to the side and not right in front.

  46. June 17, 2018 / 11:28 am

I like multi-directional (MD) stripes in theory, as I feel they are good disguises for lumps and bumps…but I don’t care for these, specifically. The lines are all sort of wavy/different widths and that is not so appealing to me. I think I also prefer MD stripes on a more structured item like a man-tailored blouse or neat wrap skirt.

I agree the tie at the bottom is not necessary and could begin to look sloppy. The bit of fullness otherwise can be flattering for anyone with a tummy. I personally like the directional pattern although it wouldn’t be my first choice. I also prefer a longer sleeve. Is this ambiguous enough?

  48. Pat
    June 18, 2018 / 5:00 pm

This is not for me. I don’t like the color combination for myself. And the tie makes it too fussy for my tastes.

Not for me. Too much to look at. =)
