Would You Wear It- Printed Silk Poncho?

Happy Saturday ladies. It’s time for would you wear it so grab a cup of your favorite coffee or tea and let’s have some fun with fashion. Each Saturday my friend Pam and I share a mannequin we’ve spotted and ask if you’d wear what it’s modeling.

I like to also have you share how you would style it yourself. It’s fun to inspire and get inspired by other ideas, so please explain how this could work for you.

These jeggings are a refreshing change…they’re a pull-on style but have a straight leg so they’re not too snug. The silk poncho is what you see:)

So what are your thoughts? How would you style it?

What kind of accessories and jewelry would you wear and why>

Interesting pattern on the poncho. not my colours also found the shape awkward. \but the design is beautiful. I wear those tops often during the summer. One has to be careful with jewelry as it could distract from the pattern. Love the pant. Its difficult to find stretchy but boot cut pants

  2. Poncho is intriguing. Have never worn one (or thought about it). I’ll have to try it on. I would wear with white or off white pants; black pants are too much of a contrast. Big earrings and one large bracelet or stacked bracelets (gold or resin) – keep it simple. Happy Saturday, ladies!

  3. It is a nice outfit. The poncho would overwhelm me, so it would not be an outfit I would wear. I would wear the pants with a tunic and add a scarf with a similar print to the tunic.

  4. While I would wear the pants, I wouldn’t wear the poncho with anything. It would be overwhelming on me. I could see it on a much taller women than myself with a dressier pant.

  5. Love the plaid pants and love the Coach crossbody bag.

Just had to write and let you know I’ve been using RevitaBrow Advanced Eyebrow Conditioning Serum every morning since August 21st and this morning I noticed my brows are getting noticeably thicker with fine hairs! I’m smiling as I type this because I haven’t plucked my brows in over 5 years. Such a small thing but I am excited to see my eyebrows return. Brows really do enhance our eyes. Thank you for sharing your experience and recommendation. RevitaBrow really does work – we just have to be patient. I purchased mine on Amazon with automatic refill/subscription.

    1. It is amazing stuff! I’m so happy for you, Roberta!! It may be a small thing to some, but these things matter. We matter. Confidence matters:)

  6. Sharon Steinhoff Smith says:

Just my opinion, but this poncho has Mrs. Roper written all over it. I wouldn’t wear this.

  7. I am in a wheelchair a lot of the time and the fabric would get caught in the wheels, so
No I would not wear it. It is an interesting piece, though, and would be fun to wear.

  8. The animal print poncho does not appeal to me. I like the straight leg pull on jeans, but they do not come in short on the webpage. If I get out to shop at Chicos, I will try them in regular. One never knows; fit can be so unpredictable. Maybe the short is stocked n the store.

  9. Pamela Over 50 Feeling 40 says:

I do wear ponchos and sizing down on my purchases has helped with volume. I would not wear this one because of the Jaguar running across my chest…just would not flatter! Thanks Jennifer!

  10. I kind of love it, and I don’t know why. It’s not something I would have considered buying. It’s special. I would wear it with pants in a light color.

  11. I’m not a fan of animal print and especially not the whole animal on it. Also ponchos don’t suit me no matter how much I love them on others and how many times I have tried them on . I’d have to wear it as a scarf with a black core with mixed gold/silver jewellery.

    1. It’s so important that you know they don’t work for you so you can focus right in on what does. That’s powerful knowledge:)

  12. I would wear a knit poncho, not silk. I think silk ruana would be more to my liking. This poncho also looks a little long for petites.

  13. I don’t care for the print on the poncho..it screams “old lady “ to me. I prefer ponchos as an outer covering.

  14. Elizabeth Dukes says:

I own something like that, mine has a huge bird of paradise flower printed in front that it’s framed by stripes of beautiful complementing colors, but I feel it makes me look HUGE when I wear it. I’ve kept it just because I love the colors, but I still haven’t figured out a way to wear it and feel good in it.

    1. It does sound gorgeous. Perhaps you could wear the color of the flower in your pants and top which would visually balance the flower?

  15. I had a similar silk printed poncho that was somewhat sheer and loved wearing it on hot days. My favorite way of wearing it was with skinny jeans and a camisole underneath. I would add my favorite thong sandals and hoop earrings to finish the look. This particular top isn’t to my taste because I like cool colors to dominate a print.

  16. Barbara Kluver says:

I would wear the silk poncho…but not in those colors! Gold and orange don’t do my complexion any favors. However, I happen to love ponchos a lot. I have knitted myself 4 ponchos and wear them all!
This one is pretty dressy and doesn’t go with my current lifestyle so I probably wouldn’t buy it.

  17. Not for me. I like tops with more shape and structure to highlight my curves. Love this feature though. I look forward to it each Saturday.

  18. There is something special about this look, but for me its too special, and not special enough, so while i like it, i can’t think of were I’d actually wear it.
And Since you can’t layer over it, it requires a very specific climate/temperature, so not good for work, worship or indoor dining, which automatically makes it a hard pass for me

  19. Nope. If I go with silk I like an allover pattern. Silk is such a great material for deep colored patterns, that’s what I want.
The first thing that would happen with me in that poncho is I’d spill coffee on it and have a big spot on the front the rest of the outing.
I do think it would be cute over a knit shift dress.

  20. Like the print and LOVE – LOVE silk plus do wear ponchos however it would be a ‘no’ for myself due I wouldn’t consider it an investment piece because of my current lifestyle. That said; do agree with others who have expressed, wearing it with a lighter colored bottom. As to choice in jewelry, would lean towards resin/acrylic rather than a metal and would consist only of a bracelet (single or stacked) and similar earrings. Choice of shoe/handbag would depend upon style of pant and season. i.e.: A full leather flat or heel shoe and structured handbag or a strappy leather or cloth sandal with a natural fiber bag like bamboo, straw, palm leaf etc. -Brenda-

    1. I so appreciate your styling ideas, Brenda! I love the idea of resin accessories with this poncho.

  21. My first thought was, “I would turn the poncho around” –not a fan of the leopards running across my middle, but that’s probably just me–but now I see the leopards are on the back too. Chasing the ones on the front, no doubt. Love Kath’s ideas for styling. I like the darker wash pull on pants, though I agree the white look better with the poncho. On the hunt for a straight leg, darker wash, comfy jean. Wonder if anyone else has tried these and if they stretch out too much after wearing?

    1. You should check out the NYDJ Marilyn jeans in the Nordstrom price-matched link that Jennifer provided. Straight leg, stretch jeans with a dark wash (Rinse is the shade) available.

      1. I do love those jeans and they never stretch out

      2. Thank you for the tip!

  22. debby2210 says:

Ordering this now. Will put lighter pants with it. And, love that they have the S/M size. Sometimes the heavier ponchos overwhelm my smaller figure. Love your blog.

    1. I love that they offer it in sizes too:)

  23. Paulette Levy says:

I love the jeggings shown, but unsure about a silk poncho. I don’t see it being worn much in fall or winter (maybe springtime?) . It’s certainly beautiful but feel it won’t be worn much here. (Northeast).

  24. I wouldn’t consider wearing this outfit! It could possibly look elegant on a very tall willowy figure with white pants and snazzy heeled gold sandals. For the normal person…no.

  25. I love it and ordered it. I love your blog. Thanks so much.

    1. Happy Saturday, Libby. I hope you love it

  26. I prefer a knit poncho – cable knit cashmere would be perfect! This poncho would swallow me up. I really don’t care for the colors or the print. It reminds me of a scarf that would look better on someone else. Happy Saturday.

    1. I agree! I love a lightweight knit or cashmere poncho! This leopard one is for summer only in the Pacific Northwest.

  27. I like this outfit. I would finish it off with gold jewelry, a pendant necklace,a pair of dangle earrings and a cuff bracelet. Black flats for shoes or cute black sandals if weather permits.
I also think a pair of pants the color green that is in the top would work or even tan. This top give you some nice options to match up with other bottoms you might have in your closet.

    1. That sounds like a very cute combo

  28. SuzanneGabrielle says:

I live in south Florida so I’m always looking for something that covers my arms, but is comfortable in the hottest and most humid months here. I would definitely wear this, but agree with Kath that I prefer it with the white or a lighter color bottom. It could also work over a sleeveless dress.

  29. My first thought was being petite I would get lost in this top! On second thought pairing it with white jeans or capris , flats and chunky gold jewelry would make it a perfect cruise outfit for me!

  30. The top provides a good starting point, and I can see an outfit that would cover a lot of situations.. I’d change out the pants to the white ankle pants shown online, or another light-coloured ankle pant, then add gold necklace with a gold circular medallion, simple gold hoop earrings, tan sandals and tan hobo bag.

    1. That sounds like a great outfit, thanks Kath
