Would You Wear It- Ralph

Happy Saturday ladies. I spotted this mannequin while going through Macy’s last week and it stopped me in my tracks. Grab another cup of your favorite coffee or tea and let’s have some fun with fashion.

Each Saturday my friend Pam and I share a mannequin and ask if you would wear what it’s modeling. I also like to hear why you feel the way you do and have you share styling ideas so we can inspire each other to think outside the box.

The yellow background grabbed my attention and I love the message, Own Your Style. This display must have been up for a while because I had a hard time locating the items online.

So what are your thoughts? Are you a fan of Ralph Lauren style and would you wear this look? How would you change it to work for you?

Now let’s go see what Pam’s mannequin is modeling at Over 50 Feeling 40

Thanks for reading and remember to wear what makes you feel fabulous.

  1. First off I do like the dress as feel it could be dressed up or down vie change of accessories and be a good traveler as well. That said; as to the other pieces they would not necessarily be my choice to wear with it and if I were to include a belt, due to the horizontal stripe and that my waist isn’t as small as it use to be I would position it higher (where it is slimmer). Also because of its length by doing so, it would give the illusion of more height particularly if my footwear are flats.
Re the leather woven handbag; you just made my day as purchased one very similar yesterday (would you believe) but at a quarter of the price which is an accomplishment if you live in Canada as you know when it comes to pricing. Mine though is a crossbody style and has a zippered closure with an adjustable strap that I am planning to add swivel antique brass clasps to plus use the excess to create a wristlet loop to make it a tad more versatile. -Brenda-

    1. You are so clever, Brenda! Brilliant ideas

  2. Like others, I just love this outfit and would love a dress like this! So many possibilities for both shoes and, also, jackets.

  3. Elaine @ Following Augustine says:

That’s my style! I would wear it exactly as shown except that I can’t wear heels, so I’d go for flatter sandals.

  4. I would totally wear this outfit but with flat sandals for me

  5. I am kind of surprised about all the acclaim for this outfit. All those horizontal stripes do me no favors although I guess the fact that they are relatively low contrast and broken up by a belt helps.

  6. Like this look and, as others have suggested, I would wear it with white sneakers. I think that the sneakers would add balance to the heavy denim jacket and pick up on the white stripe in the dress. I will be looking for the dress because I already have the other pieces including a neutral straw belt.

    1. Great point about balance for the denim jacket

  7. Love this outfit, it is s style I wear a lot, maybe with different sandals or sneakers. Trust Ralph Lauren to get it right. Love his clothes and style.

  8. Beverly Ann says:

Love this outfit. Perfect for Colorado summers, and dress looks like it would pack well for traveling. However, I’m extremely disappointed that our Denver Macys continues to shrink in store Ralph Lauren selection. Instead, Macys is expanding “house brands” that are too trendy and cheaply made. Hope to find this dress in a different store.

  9. Love it and it’s flexibility. The comments are spot on!

  10. How do I get to the Ralph Lauren dress. Your widget doesn’t take me there.

  11. This is a YES! Very cute, versatile for travel, agree with optional shoes!

  12. Pure Lauren Americana. I love it!

  13. I like it, nice casual style that looks comfortable. I’m not totally certain but when I searched Macys site I found this, says it’s sage green but style looks similar.

    1. Yes, that’s it! Thank you

  14. Love the display and I love Ralph Lauren. You could wear exactly as is or wear more casual with flats or tennis shoes and experiment with different belts and cardigans. Love it!

  15. This look is definitely a YES! It fits my casual Colorado lifestyle and can be changed up in so many ways with accessories. The shoe conversation brought back memories of working as a Visual Merchandiser in a major department store and dressing the mannequins in the clothing departments – those mannequins have feet that are shaped to wear heels only. Trying other styles never worked!

    1. Pat- I worked as a visual merchandiser as well, and I forgot all about that! I do remember pinning the backs of some dresses that were on manikins so they would fit just so. Manikins were definitely not human shaped!,

  16. as many others have already said, change the shoes for something lower, a wedge or flat, maybe a sneaker, and this is generally a yes.

  17. For me, the warm brown leather belt and sandals simply elevated a style that I already loved! It’s seems to be a classic look that you could have a hay day with by adding your own spin of accessories. I sorta think I could wear this but like others, I would need a sandal with a lower heel.
Maybe this is that magic combo so many of us have been trying to create. In my mind, I can wish I could wear so many different styles but this one might not be just a dream!
What a fun way to start a beautiful spring Saturday!

  18. Love this look! Classic is definitely my style.

  19. A definite yes. Classic and comfy. I would wear flats or low heel sandals with the dress. I might also add a pretty medium size red beaded necklace. Like the denim jacket too and would add a pin to the lapel if I didn’t add a necklace.

  20. Love the Lauren. Wouldn’t change a thing. I love to wear a jersey dress with a denim jacket.

  21. I LOVE this outfit in every way. This is so versatile and can be worn for so many occasions depending on your accessories. My style for sure!!

  22. Oh yes, I’d wear this one in a heartbeat. Just would change out the heels for wedges or sandals. I’m not sure how the dress would look without the jacket as it might be a bit bland for me colorwise, but I’d like to give it a try.

    1. Lezlie Davis says:

I love this! Would have to try it on to see if my body would work (lost 92 pounds 8 years ago and have a bunch of hanging skin in my tummy). I would wear this with slip on sneakers on Fridays at work.

    1. Thank you so much! I could not find it anywhere.

  23. This outfit is comfy/casual – just my style! I like the casual dress with the jean jacket. A jean jacket defines your waistline so remove the belt and wear different shoes — flats or tennis shoes for a day out. Happy Saturday!

  24. Just as it is! Love Ralph

  25. Love this outfit. I love “Ralph’s timeless and classic style. Almost always a hit with me.

  26. Maribeth Conklin says:

    Wow Wow
The grey and white maxi dress with The Jean jacket totally me. I don’t wear heels but a cute pair of sneakers I would wear it. I have not seen it at my Macys.

  27. Finally an outfit that is totally wearable. You could wear almost any color belt and add earrings in the same color to change it up, but love it as is. I would not wear a heel that high so my sandal would be different or I would even wear white sneakers for a casual look. Love it.

    1. I agree, it’s very versatile

  28. Melinda Beckett says:

I love this knit dress with the nifty belt & jean jacket on the mannequin. It could be worn with my boots in a multi season look.

  29. Paulette Levy says:

Happy Saturday Jennifer! I see an outfit that is indeed ME! Yes, this is the dress I would wear and could love it with any jean jacket or a shawl tossed casually over the shoulders. I wouldn’t change a thing!

    1. Love this outfit. Allthough I am 74 would like to wear with sneakers!
