Would You Wear It- Texture Play

Happy Saturday. If your week was anything like mine you’re ready for a break so let’s have some fun with fashion. Grab a second cup of coffee or tea and let’s get to would you wear it.

Each Saturday my friend Pam and I share a mannequin we’ve photographed and ask if you would wear what it’s modeling. There’s always a lot to be learned in the comment section so please share your styling ideas. As always, generalities are not as fun as specifics, so please keep your comments related to your style.

So tell us ladies, would you wear this outfit as is, wear the items separately and how would you make them work for you?

Trending on AWSL this week-

These So Slimming Houndstooth Ankle Pants are very popular and are marked way, way, down so I see why they’re selling so fast.

These leopard sneakers, which are also on sale! They are super cute and a great casual alternative to tennis shoes.fashion blogger jennifer connolly of a well styled life wearing sweater set from banana republic

When I began my blog in 2012, I had no idea all the things I would need to learn. It’s interesting but also exhausting because the learning never ends.
All the signs point to the increasing popularity of video content going forward so rather than be a dinosaur, I’m trying new things.

Many of you are not on Instagram, which has this new feature called Reels. They’re short little videos that are taking over…almost in place of photos.

Here’s one of me getting dressed to go for physical therapy last week-

I would not wear this combination because the sweater would be too bulky. I am slim through the torso and fuller through the hips, so I wouldn’t want to add any bulk to the torso. I like the skirt and would pair it with a slim fitted cashmere sweater that hits high on the hip in the same or similar color to the skirt. For shoes, either a pair of dark sling back pumps with a low heel of possible a bootie.

Again, one of my weird dislikes: cables. I don’t know why I dislike them so much, but I always have. I think I must have a had a traumatic experience with a cable-knit sweater as an infant. LOL. That skirt is pretty, though.

I like it! I would add calf-length boots.

I love the look but would wear a slip under the skirt, or wear a heavier skirt. And I love the video with your scarf tying tip. Thank you!

Ankle pants are great in warm weather with sandals, flats or maybe heels if all I had to do was sit and eat dinner. They are not so great in a Canadian Winter and to my eye it looks bad to see someone wearing ankle pants with very cold looking ankles….nothing gorgeous or fashionable about blue skin.
The other issue is that there are few companies who make Tall. A 28 inch inseam may be an ankle pant on a person with short legs but that would be a capri on me….and no I am not wearing capris in Winter. 🙂

I tried to copy how you tied your scarf but wasn’t successful. Could you show us a step by step video? I look forward to your blog every day especially when you compared the same two outfits. Please keep it coming!

As is — Would nix the jewelry shown and replace with a few bangle bracelets and/or hoop or stud earrings. With that said; I feel the outfit as shown would work for someone who has a Bohemian and Artistic Style and pair it with toasty cuffed socks and hiking/combat boots (or similar) with an over-the-shoulder hobo tote or back- pack. (Long hair casually swept up, secured with a colorful scrunchie …. can you picture them? ☺) To wear it myself as to description/shown a no! First of all as to the skirt; though I do like its midi length/fabric do not care for draw-string styles nor does the drape of this one appeal to me but do like its color. Also it is something I would reserve to wear in early Spring, not winter and pair it with a pair of ankle-strap wedges and a light-weight/long sleeved fitted jersey top (or similar) with a statement long necklace. The sweater; I do like as could get a lot of casual wear mileage out of as feel it would work well with a variety of bottoms. i.e.: Leggings, jeggings, skinny/tapered bottoms plus is ideal for range in seasons. -Brenda-
P.S.: Thoroughly enjoyed the mini-reel and thought it was well done as was both entertaining and informative not to mention IMO you are a natural behind the camera.

Oh your video was such a fun addition to your post today! I hope you do more!

I used to have an Instagram account but was hacked, so haven’t been back. I might have to go back and keep up to date with these things, though! ha ha

Love the sweater. I’d wear it with slim pants or leggings, though as it might be too bulky with anything else. The skirt is a no for me — wouldn’t look good on me.
