Would You Wear It- Warm with Cool

Happy Saturday, ladies. It’s time for would you wear it so grab a second cup of your favorite coffee or tea and let’s have some fun with fashion. Each week my friend Pam and I share a mannequin we’ve come across and ask if you would wear what it’s modeling.

Stores dress their mannequins to show us what’s new and to hopefully give us some styling inspiration. Some mannequins are great and some fall flat. In that vein, I’d love to have you share your styling ideas so we can inspire each other to think beyond how we usually wear things.

  1. After your very informative post on finding one’s contrast level, I’d say this high-contrast warm/cool (and unconventional) combination probably isn’t for me. However, the other day I wore a golden yellow top with medium blue jeans and a colorful scarf, so even though low contrast combinations are probably more in my contrast range, perhaps it’s the more conventional color combination that I felt comfortable with. I think one has to have a lot of self-confidence to carry off a color combination like this and not worry that people will think you got dressed in the dark…like I did years ago working in a corporate environment and I wore one navy and one black shoe to work one day!

  2. I believe the first and third photos use an analogous color pattern, so the colors work. I’m having a hard time seeing the color of the jacket and pants are grey-brown? Either way, shades of pink work well with brown or grey. I love bright colors and might pair the colors on the top photo but not in the same ratios. For example, I pair a red-orange sweater with a dark blue denim jacket. I tie the look together with a dark blue printed scarf with bits of poppy red, orange, and violet.

  3. If the question is would I combine cool and warm colors, yes. I would not wear this outfit because the colors don’t suit me, and the style doesn’t work for my curves. It’s a pass on this outfit, but as yes to the concept of cool and warm colors together. The best guidance is nature. Cool flowers and warm flowers are wonderful together.

It is t terrible. I like the top with the pants, but the burgundy with the strawberry red just doesnā€™t make sense to me.

  5. I would wear the red velvet pants and blouse, but would change out the long double button coat. Maybe a blazer or sweater in one of the colors in the blouse.

  6. Not a fan of velvet pants, and I don’t like the cut of these: they seem bunchy on the mannequin. Also, there are a zillion colors in the blouse, but the orange in the pants is not one of them. Maybe the blouse and pants would work on vacation somewhere hot but not up north. The coat is meh.

  7. Lorrie Orr says:

The mannequin is wearing a very striking colour combination and I like it, although I don’t think I’d wear that much of a print. The trousers and coat are gorgeous together.

    1. I love the combination too:)

  8. Love the coat on Miss Mannequin but the orange reddish pants with very flower, leafy blouse just scream at me.
A little too much for me. That coat is gorgeous and just about any toned down color would bring this outfit all together.
I do like the pants and would wear them and even the blouse with a 3/4 length jacket and black booties or flats.
This is my conservative side coming out. šŸ˜

  9. There is nothing about this outfit that speaks to me. The big patch pockets on the coat would draw attention an area that doesn’t need attention on my body. The print of the top is just too much for my classic taste, & the pants are wrong for me for several reasons. I love your Home Depot outfit. It speaks to my love of classic looks.

  10. The colors are fantastic on today’s outfit. If the coat was more fitted I would consider it. The pants are cropped so that is out for me unless I cover the bottom with a tall boot. Due to the fabric of the pants, they can’t be worn in summer.
Your sand -washed blouse and Home Depot outfit are what I wear at 5’5 115. I need more tailored clothes or look like a mess.
Your friend has a good eye for color from the posts I have read.
