Would You Wear This And How?

Happy Tuesday ladies. I hope you all had a lovely Mother’s Day. I took the opportunity to celebrate all weekend by doing a whole lot of nothing. I so seldom do that, it was a real treat. I started a new book, walked, drank lots of tea, and generally chilled out.

I spotted this mannequin yesterday and wondered what you’d think of its outfit. You saw me style the same bag here in a pretty soft blue, but I had removed the “accessory” pouch. I’d love to have you share some styling ideas. We can all look at identical garments and see different possibilities so I love when we brainstorm together.

Are there parts of this outfit you would wear and parts you wouldn’t?

Why?

I was at the mall, shopping for a wicker tote for the summer when I came across this leather alternative. It reminds me of one of my favorite wall murals, covered with bright, cheery colors and a tropical vibe. I’ve always been a fan of Brahmin bags but this one is a smidge too orange for me, so my hunt continues.

Thanks for reading and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.

This is an ugly outfit; would make anyone look frumpy; the jean are meh. Very dull colors. I would not buy any of these items. Hard to believe they were put on display as they look like used clothing.

I like the jean and sweater. I would wear the jeans and maybe the sweater if it were not this long. The top definitely not for me.

That’s a style formula I often wear (jeans or pants with a top and cardigan) and I’m a big fan of mix-and-match solid color separates. I would substitute another top, that seam across the bust wouldn’t be flattering for me and might choose another color cardigan. I like having a pop of color in an outfit and the bag does that (I would remove the accessory pouch like others mentioned) but since I don’t carry a purse with me throughout my day, I would add a color or pattern somewhere else( shoes, jewelry, etc) Thanks for the post!

I could do this with some colorful accessories added. The irony of this is that I have similar pieces of this outfit. In fact, I have a very similar top that I have been thinking of donating because I don’t like the length of the top worn alone. I never considered layering the top. Now, before I donate my top, I am going to give this look a try! This is why I love your blog. I gain new ideas for looks I would otherwise never try!

I often wear the elements of this outfit- a cardigan and jeans. Would swap out the khaki color in the cardigan for a cool grey if I wanted neutral or something brighter for more fun.
My lovely husband has gifted by a few cross body accessory bags. They just don’t work for me. I typically carry my phone, a wallet, key chain, comb and lipstick. Have not found an accessory bag yet that can hold all of it.

The colors are neutral, but could be jazzed up with a fun, colorful shoe or open toed bootie. Next I would add a colorful print scarf. Others might add a necklace.

    Like the cardigan and jeans.
Would like to see them with a brighter print top to add a little
zip to the outfit and some cool sandals 👡
Love the straw bags – all of them.

Why do they put pockets on cardigans…ruins the long lines. I don’t care for the color either. The top is a no….there is nothing good about it except the color and material. I like the bag…that color really pops…but I would remove the accessory pouch.

The outfit would be good for days you just want to blend in and get on with stuff. I have days like that. Ignore me. I’m busy. I do love the idea of that accessories pouch purse, but I would probably forget what I put where and spend all kinds of time looking for things.

Wow! That is a bad outfit in my book. Very boring and dull colors. I like the concept of the top; kind of like a baby doll top, but this one with the seam across the bust (as someone mentioned above) is weird, and the whole length of the top seems too short. I like the style of it though. The cardigan is just blah and I don’t love cut off anything. Just too messy for me. So, I would have a hard time styling this outfit as is. Looking at it again; it does seem to be on trend with what the younger girls are wearing and the color of the bag just pops against the dull colors, so maybe that’s the point; maybe that’s the style! I like the crossbody bag. I’d make the top longer and not have a seem across the bust, I’d wear a small scarf that had some deep blue and maybe Ivory and yellow tones in it and I’d wear saddle brown suede loafers, yellow flats (some I have, have a gold buckle) OR sneakers with this outfit.
The Brahmin bag is beautiful and just up my alley, but not with that price! Whew!

The outfit is only an “okay” in my book. I like the shape of the cardigan but not the colour. I’m so over all the drab colours all the stores seem to be offering up this year. Where are all the beautiful jewel tones and bright summer colours??

I like the outfit. It looks put together yet comfy. I’m not quite sure about the top; without the cardigan, it might blouse out too much below the seam. Also, I’m a little encouraged that the cardigan is not too long. Whenever I try the long cardigans, they just swamp me and make me feel frumpy!

Glad to see the cardigans shorten up a bit. I use a wheelchair sometimes and long clothes spell fabric trapped in the wheels. The peplem-like ivory top is a good idea for those of us who do not want a knit fabric stretched across our abdomens. The jeans are ok but that looks a ragged hem, another negative for the walking challenged. Hate to bring it up again, but a strappy, complicated purse only adds complications to those with limited coordination. Not sure what the blue shirt under the peplum is doing.

I am a neutral gal, so this outfit appeals to me. I’m not a fan of the seam across the bustline on the top but the detail in the fabric is lovely. I would add leopard accessories to this outfit…shoes and/or bag. Metallic sandals and jewelry would also be a nice addition if not using the leopard (or maybe a mix of both). Since it is such a neutral base adding bright accessories, like the bag you showed, would change the whole look of the outfit. I actually like the unfinished hem on the jeans. My lifestyle is very casual so this whole look works for me.

I love the idea of animal print or metallic accessories with this outfit. Neutral looks just need the right touches to pop.
