Gray and Ivory Casual Outfit
Happy Friday ladies. Today’s ootd of the day is one I will be wearing on repeat all winter. This time of year, my preferred outfit is a cashmere sweater and comfy jeans but I’m burned out on jeans so I’mĀ looking for other options. This gray and ivory casual outfit is as comfy as sweats but elevated enough to take you to a holiday party.
You can spend a fortune on cashmere, and you can also buy it at a reasonable price. Quality varies and you often just get what you pay for. Then you can get a surprise! I ordered this ivory V-neck from a new-to-me brand on a whim, and I’m hooked! This is a $50 cashmere sweater that’s much softer than my $100 Everlane sweaters. I’m wearing a medium.
Quince makes high-quality essentials, cuts out all the middlemen, and sells factory-direct so the prices are insanely good.Ā They make lots of other products and tons of cashmere which I will be stocking up on. They also have free shipping and free returns so it’s hard to go wrong!

I spotted these comfy pants on the J. Jill website and knew they would be great. Machine wash, elastic waistband, and pockets…say no more! Comfy from the get-go. The Wearever Collection are elevated everyday essentials grounded in knits. I love that they simply pull-on, and are softly tailored with a wider leg that drapes gracefully.
The fabric is a substantial knit with 6% spandex so they won’t bag out. They describe it as french terry, but I always think of athletic wear with terry and these aren’t that. The stitched center seam adds some visual structure without taking away from its flowy nature.
The leopard print scarf is a silk/cashmere blend and comes in a set with cashmere fingerless gloves. They’re from Black, which makes classic and contemporary, elegant and understated, pieces for your wardrobe. BTW, their Black Friday sale is on with 20 % off sitewide. I love fingerless gloves because I can still operate my phone while keeping my hands warm.
Add a pair of super comfy velvet flats and this soft gray and cream outfit would take you to a holiday party or shopping in comfort. I love my Birdies and now have them in two colors. They run wide so if you have a narrow foot they might not be a good fit for you.
I’ve always had a soft spot for charcoal gray and love it paired with both soft and strong colors. Picture these with a red sweater or soft pink, yellow, or pale blue…the options are endless. It’s a great alternative to black and just as versatile.
I love wide-leg pants for the flowy feeling and the balance they give my broad shoulders. Make them in a neutral like charcoal heather gray and I am one happy gal. These are a small petite, and they also come in misses and womens.
Do you wear knit pants?
Thanks for reading ladies and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.
Hi Jennifer! I have to say Iām suffering from some serious āoutfit envyā. You look absolutely stunning in this color combination. I love J Jill, especially the Wearever collection, and since Iām a cashmere lover as well, Iāll definitely checkout Quince. Thank you!
So sad that this company doesnāt ship out of the U.S. But I suppose by the time we factor in the exchange, shipping and GST it probably wouldnāt be a such a great deal anyway. Sigh!
Elegant and flattering. And I love the colors.
Fashion goes from everything tight to everything loose. Always evolving. I wear any pant style. I just stopped worrying about being short. I am trying to imagine a cashmere sweatshirt and how it would differ from a cashmere sweater. Is it sturdier? Cream is my new go to color instead of white. White like black seems harsh next to my face as I get older.
I love the outfit you are wearing, and excited to learn of a new company. Thank you.
Love the Quince website – already ordered a sweater!
You will LOVE it.
Greatly enjoy your.posts and look forward to them each day.
I love your outfit. I was just looking at those same pants, but wondered what kind of shoes or boots I would wear with them. Your shoes look great, but what kind of boots would you wear?
Any ankle boot would work that does’t have buckles that the pants would catch on.
Quince is new to me, the price is too good to pass up. Ive always wanted a cashmere T-shirt.
Me too! I just can’t decide what color to get.
I LOVE Quince! Discovered them last year. I’ve got 3 sweaters, black, gray and a lovely pale pink. Great customer service and I love buying from a San Francisco company. Beautiful outfit š
I’m so happy to find them:)
Great minds think alike! I have on an almost identical outfit today, except mine is with black pants, light grey sweater, grey/silver/black scarf and grey gloves. And due to the -2 degree temps, had to add a winter coat and boots.
Hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving and had some down time to relax.
Your outfit sounds great! Thank you, Yvonne.
Love this entire outfit! I DO wear knit pants! It said to size down as they run large. How true is that? My knit pants are all a size large so I am doubtful a medium in this would fit me. Did you order a size smaller?
Anyway, great hit the mail on the head inspiration moment for me! Oh and when I looked at the scarf it was not priced in American Dollars so I have no clue what they are charging.
I did not order down because they’re supposed to be hung dry, and I know mine will likely hit the dryer at least once.
What a great look! Gray and cream go so well together. When I wear knit pants, they are straighter and slimmer. I don’t know if I could carry off that wide-legged look that you can wear.
I’m loving this look. For me, a rather “elder” gal, understated elegance is my goal. And a scarf to add a touch of special. Thank you so much for inspiring me to look my best. Tends to make you act the same way.
Blessed season for you all!
I love understated elegance too so we are on the same wavelength. Happy Holidays
I love how your outfit pulls together. I wear a lot of knit pull on pants, though, and I already know at my height those wide legs look floppy instead of flowy. Oh, well. Will check out Quince, thanks for the recommendation.
Love the look, so comfy & casual, but an anywhere look for me!! Looks awesome!
Although I love my jeans, both skinny and wide leg, I too am getting tired of that always being my “uniform” so I have pulled out some wide leg pants – perfect for Niagara’s winter climate, and some warm pullovers just like you! All I need to do now is go through my scarf drawer for the finishing touch.
Iām so glad to see you wearing and commenting on cashmere from Quince. Iāve longingly looked at there $50 cashmere, and wondered if it was ā too good to be trueā at that low price. How do you think it compares to Nordstrom $79 cashmere sweaters? I hesitate when ordering on line for concern over size, and return policies. Hearing your recommendation makes me feel much better.
It is not too good to be true. The colors are not as extensive as at Nordstrom so you will be limited that way. Both stores offer free shipping and return so that really helps.
My kind of look. I am not sure about pants that wide on me , I am not tall. I do wear knit pants, but more straight and slimmer. I think the thing to do is try them on if not sure. They do look very comfortable.
Love the whole outfit, from top to bottom! Looks great on you. This would be my go to look!
I don’t usually wear knit pants except for athletic wear but these look really great. What a great price on the cashmere sweaters. The outfit looks great on you.
I immediately ordered the J.Jill grey pull-on pants. Iām delighted that they are offered in petite, and grey is one of my best colors.
You will love them! I hope they make them in other dark neutrals
While I love knit pants, I donāt care for the wider legs. I am short (5ā4ā) and I think they make me appear shorter and wider than I am. I prefer a straight leg ponte rather than the wide leg. I love the grey/cream color way.
I love the outfit and wish I could wear everything. I have a narrow foot and am allergic to wool, but I will get the pants. I am looking for suede flats that are comfortable. Thank you for your great ideas.
After reading all about the Quince products and getting a few items chosen, I discovered that they do not ship outside of the states. How sad and frustrating for a product that cuts out all the price raising steps in the middle to find out we cannot order here. I guess I should be used to this with recomended sites, but I do love cashmere, just not the high prices.
Is the scarf really as long as it looks, or is it just mostly at the front?
Wow, you look great in this outfit. I, for one, look forward to full length pants to return to the stores. I donāt mind an ankle length for a slim leg but do not embrace a flare leg above the ankle. As the weather gets colder, I want my ankles covered. !
This outfit is striking in its style and simplicity. Very nice! I’m hesitant about such wide-leg pants. I had a pair like this in 7th grade and used to love how they billowed out when I went roller skating. The big bell bottoms were in style then. Would have to try them on to see how they look (and how I perceive they look!) Thanks for the tip on the quality cashmere sweater company!
You look terrific in this outfit! Very feminine and flows as well as balanced. Enjoy seeing the wide leg knit pant outfit put together properly.
Love your look today. For a pant change up I’m going with straight leg slim cords in grey and in a brown-gold color (Talbots). I’m in jeans quite a bit, but look for changes occasionally. You’re looking very polished today! I’ve been into JCrew cashmere…..love it.
Thanks Paulette
Fabulous ootd, Jennifer. Love the long flowing lines and soft colours on you. A very interesting alternative to jeans. And I would never have thought of fingerless gloves acting as a point of interest for an elegant outfit – but they work here.
This outfit is a winner for me! Soft, pretty and comfortable and I’ve always loved charcoal gray. I just need to watch the cut of wide legged pants since I am pear shaped to begin with. I will definitely check out their cashmere.
