What’s New At Your Favorite Retailers: January 2023

Spring collections are trickling into the stores, and Iā€™m always anxious to see what styles and trends the brands will incorporate. I thought it would be fun to call out some of the new arrivals that I’m loving from your favorite retailers currently.

J. Jill

J. Jill’s new arrivals are perfect for late winter and early spring as they feature a lot of sweaters and lightweight outerwear. I saved a few that stood out to me, but I think the new arrivals may be worth a try-on soon!

Birdies

If you’re looking for a shoe to wear in between boot and sandal season, check out Birdies. I actually wear mine all year long because these shoes are so comfy and roomy (which is exactly what I need for my bunion). I’m calling out a few of my favorites from their recent arrivals, but if I’m honest… it was tough to pick only a few!

Talbots

Talbot’s is dipping their toe into spring while still offering plenty of cold weather options to tide us over until true spring weather arrives. The new arrivals are a pleasant mix of neutrals and bright colors and patterns. I popped into my store yesterday to try a few things on, which I’ll have for you tomorrow.

Loft

I know many of you shop at Loft so I had to include a few favorites from their site. I’m seeing a lot of great basic and classic wardrobe staples, but they also released some fun Valentine’s Day-esque colors and prints.

  • Loft always has a great selection of nice jackets and blazers that are wonderful layering pieces, like this open-front tweed sweater jacket and this knit double-breasted blazer.
  • Every closet needs a classic button-up shirt. Loft has a ton of choices for button-ups, but I love the pinstripe and added ruffle on this one.

Banana Republic Factory

Banana Republic Factory has great basics currently, and everything is usually on sale. I thought the way they styled some of their new arrivals had an edgy feel!

J. Crew Factory

I was pleasantly surprised to see so many fun colors and prints throughout J. Crew Factory’s new arrivals. They feel fresh after a long winter of neutrals!

J. McLaughlin

J. McLaughlin’s new arrivals will keep you sleek, warm, and stylish throughout the rest of winter. They do have a vacation shop if you’re heading to or live in a warmer destination.

Chico’s

Chico’s is another reader favorite that I knew I had to check out for this post.

Did you see any items that you’d like to try? What are some of your other favorite retailers that I missed? Let me know in the comments!

Love all the spring ideas. Can’t wait! I’m glad to see you discovered J. McLaughlin. Very tailored clothes in beautiful fabrics (with a price to match, I’m sorry to say). We have a J. McL in town and it’s fun to visit (I’m a bit too curvy for their clothing but the accessories fit). Question: do the Birdies have a large heel curve? My feet are long, a bit wide (but a Medium) and have a problem with the heels of many shoes being too large and my feet slip out.

Thank you for all these wonderful suggestions and happy New Year!

    1. My heels don’t slip out of the Birdies, so I’m not sure if they will on you. J. McLaughlin’s clothes are so lovely!

  2. I like the comment about White House Black Market. We have one and I can find petites there. Our Chicos only have petites on line. It is still very much winter here but our days are longer so can’t wait for spring and golf! Thanks for showing all the options.

    1. Another vote for WHBM. I’ll check them out this week!

  3. We are down in snowfall in New England, so I’m waiting for it … The new colors are pretty and suggest Spring will be here come … several months from now. I like the Talbots long cardigan but wish it came in navy or black. Retailers I like: Boden, Everlane, and BR/BRF that all use organic or more sustainable fabrics. … Still trying to figure out who wears loungewear – LOL

    1. You’re hilarious…loungewear is all the rage šŸ™‚

      1. Couldn’t find any mention of lougewear on AWSL site in last year-plus. Do you wear it?

      2. What type of loungewear are you refering too. PJ’s? Sweats? Athleisure?

  4. I would love to see you try White House Black Market. I recently discovered their pants and jeans which come not only in petite, but short (without being petite in the rise) and curvy styles. I’m looking forward to spring!!

    1. That’s what I need…short with a high or regular rise. I’ll check them out!

  5. Have you tried Soft Surroundingā€™s? My new favorite go-to since retirement! Super cute outfits for parties and travel.

    1. I have but thereā€™s no store within many hours of me.

  6. Do the Birdies shoes ever go on sale. Iā€™ve been wanting to try them on your recommendation, but they seem a little pricey.

    1. They go on sale at the end of the season.

  7. Always wanted to try Birdies. I too have bunions, but also need good support. How do you find the support of the shoe? Love your spring preview. Can’t wait to see your try-ons from Talbots!

    1. The support is minimal but theyā€™re wide enough to add an insert with arch support.

Good morning, enjoyed your suggestions today. On Thursday I ordered two pairs of shoes from Birdies and I purchased their slip on sneakers in metallic gold last spring, super comfy, supportive and best of all, pretty!
    Have a great day

    1. Thanks for the info. Iā€™ll try their sneakers!

  9. Thanks for sharing these great options for winters -end abd springtime beginning! It adds a degree of hope to me sitting here in New England. We havenā€™t hit the very cold weather yet in Rhode Island but itā€™s coming! Iā€™m dreaming of that pistachio jacket or that JCrew collared sweatshirt.

This is such a great idea to show us many options/ideas from various retailers. I loved so many things! Please do this again. So glad I found you several years ago!

      1. Iā€™m glad you like this post!

    2. I know your very cold weather is before you. Bundle up!
