Dressing Room Diary: Best Festive Petite Finds at Talbots This Winter

Many ladies love to wear red all year long, but especially during the holidays, so I thought you might enjoy this outfit. This sweater has a small neck ruffle, which is a good proportion for petite women. Large or giant details can easily overwhelm us shorter gals. The pants have a small, red foil dot, which is also a good scale for petite ladies. You can also find these in Plus here. This is a great festive look for any time during the holidays, including an at-home party or lunch out with friends. These poinsettia earrings would also add more festive spirit to the look, and you could revert to simple hoops after the holidays.

This next outfit is from T Talbots, which is their athleisure collection with casual, comfy styles that still have a polished vibe. I have these pants in navy and can attest to how comfortable they are. They come in 3 colors…I’m showing the gray. These have front slash pockets that zip closed and look more elevated than standard patch pockets. They also have 11% spandex, so they’ll maintain their shape.

I paired them with this top that has soft metallic gray stripes on an ivory background. It’s very soft and cozy with a loose mock neck. The little bit of sparkle is festive for now, but not too much to wear after the holidays. I topped it with this Silver hooded vest that caught my eye the moment I walked in the door! The color is simply fabulous. It has nice channel stitching to slim the silhouette, and I love that the hood tucks neatly into the collar until you need it. The shirt is a teeny bit longer than the vest, so I half-tucked the front.

This fair isle sweater also comes in a soft grey and cream combination. It has a soft, fuzzy texture in a machine-washable blend. This is the sort of timeless pattern that will be in style for many years to come, and the colors will go with so many things. I paired it with these Portland pants. The petite version has an inseam of 25.5″, which is a smidge short on me, so I opted for the regular with an inseam of 28″. These have a nice side zipper, which keeps the tummy area smooth. They’re a thick double weave in a riding-pant style, so they’ll be fabulous tucked into knee boots.

These effortless wide-leg velvet pants are super comfy and could be worn in so many ways. I can imagine them dressed way up with a satin blouse and faux fur capelet or down with a cozy plaid shirt tied at the waist and coordinating slippers for NYE at home. I’m wearing them here with a simple ribbed turtleneck and an ivory pullover with gold tinsel dots.

This turtleneck is a favorite shape in soft ivory and a silvery metallic stripe. I’m wearing it over these barely boot jeans you see me wearing so often. These are the regular length which is a smidge long and loose on me. I know they’ll be perfect with my low booties so I ordered the size 6. This denim is thick and low stretch which makes they very comfy and not clingy.

While I was ordereing the jeans…and the sale is on…I ordered a replacement for my black cashmere turtleneck that I left in Vancouver. I love the coziness of turtlenecks and wear my black one so often, I miss having one here in California.

These red ankle pants are another popular shape for Talbots. They’re a straight leg with an invisible elastic back waistband that adjusts to your body for the perfect, comfortable fit…think dinner out :). They come in 7 colors in an all-season fabric that stretches enough to be very comfy but retains their polished shape. I topped them with this soft as a feather, cashmere animal print pullover.

These sequn striped straight leg jeans have a fun row of sequins up the side, much like tuxedo pants would. I paired them with the same gold tinsel dot sweater I styled above. I’d look for gold flats for this outfit or some ivory booties to keep the whole look light.
