Best Flip-Flops for Women Over 60 That Aren’t Bad for Your Feet
Gone are the days when I’d sacrifice my foot health for a pretty pair of sandals. While I love the ease of slipping on a pair of flip-flops, many of them leave my feet aching after an hour or two. If you’re on a similar search this spring or summer, you’re in the right place—I’ve rounded up some of the best flip-flops for women over 60 that combine comfort, arch support, and style.

If you deal with plantar fasciitis or general foot pain, these flip-flops by Archies are a game-changer. They look like your basic flip-flops, but they offer serious orthotic support with a cushioned footbed that molds to your feet. They’re lightweight, shock-absorbing, and perfect for long walks or standing for extended periods. I especially love that they don’t scream “comfort shoe.”

These Beek Leather Pelican Slides are an elevated take on a summer staple. The molded footbed provides arch support, while the wide strap keeps your foot securely in place. They have a luxe, minimalist look that pairs beautifully with everything from linen trousers to sundresses. Beek also donates a meal for every pair sold, so you can feel good about your purchase. Their flip-flops were too narrow for my foot, and I’m anxious to try thr brand, so I ordered these to try.

If you’re after a flip flop that’s a bit more polished, this Sam Edelman Remi delivers. It has a slight heel and cushioned sole, so you’re not completely flat on the pavement. The straps are stylish without being fussy, and they come in a variety of shades from pink and red to your classic neutrals.

This is grown-up Beek Sunbeam Flip Flop doesn’t compromise your alignment—and it’s pretty enough to wear beyond the beach. I’m so sorry my foot is too wide for them. I love that they’re handmade, and that they have a contoured memory foam footbed.

Think of these as your post-walk or errand-running recovery sandals. The same great support as the original Archies flip-flop, but in a slide style that’s easy to wear around the house or after workouts.

These are a great option if you need built-in orthotics without the orthopedic look. The design helps to reduce pressure on the heels and balls of the feet, and the footbed molds to your shape over time. They will be a smart choice for travel, everyday wear, or anyone dealing with plantar fasciitis.

If you’re looking for something lightweight and beach-ready, this pair from Reef is a comfortable (and affordable) choice. The soft footbed offers gentle arch support, while the straps are padded for extra comfort.

These water-friendly sandals are great for beach trips or poolside lounging, and they would also work for everyday wear. The contoured footbed provides solid arch support, and the non-slip sole gives you great traction on wet surfaces.

I grabbed these recovery sandals a few years ago and oh my, are they ever comfortable. They’re “biomechanically engineered OOfoam absorbs shock, cradles your arches and reduces stress on your feet, knees and back” These are not a look I wear outside for running errands, but they’re perfect for at-home wear.

This sporty sandal features a slightly elevated sole and extra cushioning for all-day support. The fabric straps stretch gently across the foot so they would be a great option for those with sensitive skin or swelling.

Speaking of swelling, these sandals from Aetrex have an adjustable velcro strap so you can adjust them to fit your foot comfortably. They also have a pressure-relieving memory foam footbed and built-in arch support.

I absolutely love my Birkenstock slide sandals. While they may need a little time to break in, they will quickly become one of the most reliable sandals you own. Over the last few years, they’ve released this style with a single strap and bold buckle detail, giving the style a more modern, polished look.

For a basic, budget-friendly flip-flop that won’t hurt your feet, Lands’ End delivers. These water-resistant sandals are lightweight, quick-drying, and durable enough for beach, garden, or poolside wear.
Do you have a go-to pair of flip-flops? I’d love to hear your favorites.

Good Morning Jennifer. I think I want one each of these flip-flops. Lots of good choices, thanks for the lineup. I just purchased and am very pleased with Vionic Dillon Shine. Here’s the link: https://www.vionicshoes.com/dillon-shine.html?color=541
These look fabulous
My feet are long and narrow with plantar fasciitis; there is no such thing as a flip flop for long walks because your foot naturally grabs the front part without any back strap to hold your foot in. Your foot points which is the worse motion for plantar sufferers! I wear Clarks Cloudsteppers around the house and to the pool but never for grocery shopping; I have a couple of pairs of Vionics that go well with sundresses. I like the look of a narrow sandal and have a hard time with the Birkenstock shape. The bottoms of my feet throb after trying to get steps in even with Hokas. I use Aspercreme to take the pain away. My dear mom lived to be 94 and the only thing she ever complained about were her feet! Those Aerothotics look like I may give them a try!
My toes don’t really like flip flops so what I wear are Crocs Kadee ll strappy sandals. They have an arch support and I can wear them with socks. I keep a pair in my travel bag as my slippers and to the pool. I think I have 4 pairs now as they come in so many colors.
I can’t wear flip flops for the same reason as Jan. Bad ankles from old injuries. But my high arches and wide toe boot needs make sandals a challenge. I have a couple from Easy Spirit that are good for minimal walking. I just need a more structured shoe. I’m so glad your husband has graduated to a cane from his walker. Good for you that he can do some of his chores again. Brent is fine after his first cataract surgery but he has the second on Friday. So here we go again as he is a bit fussy about the process which is very simple and easy. Been there done that. So yes, I will be loading and emptying the dishwasher!
I just bought my third pair of Skecher’s Reggae Zig Swag flip flops in navy blue. They are the most comfortable footwear I own. I have bunions on both feet and a plantar plate tear on left foot. If New England weather permitted, I would wear these comfort sandals year-round!
I love Taos sandals for my feet.
A second vote for Taos! I have their sandals and Mary Janes and both are all-day winners.
I love my Clarks and can say they are comfy. I am going to look at the Oofos for wearing inside.
I’ve tried not to wear flip flops too often because my Podiatrist is dead set against them. But these are so attractive and good for your feet too so that’s great. I do wear the Clarks pair that you shared and they are comfy. Thanks for the research.
I’m also a fan of the Vionic flip flops. They come in a wide width which I need. So happy your hubby is recovering nicely, Jennifer!
My sister in law turned me onto a flip flop by Aerothotics. I got them off Amazon. My feet have terrible collapse in the arches and these are very comfortable. I too, have tried Vionics and others and have spent a lot of money for nothing. Aerorthotics have lots of cute colors and look like normal flip flops with a bit of a raised sole.
I’ll check them out!
Glad Mr. C is doing well. Sandals and your toenails look great! Have a blessed day.
Thanks Rory
Agree with Clarks Cloudsteppers. Sadly after multiple ankle surgeries I can’t do flip flops and i miss them.
My favorite is Cloudstepper by Clarks….super comfortable and cute!
I love my Vionic flip flops – have several pairs that go from casual to dressy. Animal print ones are my fav! Had plantar fasciitis and wear Vionic inserts in my shoes, too.
I wish I could wear Vionis but my arches seem too collapsed for them.
Absolutely love my Clark Cloudstepper flip flops. Own several pair and wear and take them on vacation and at home all summer long!!
Me too! I own multiple pairs & they are supportive & cushy!
You left out Crocs-I love my sturdy Crocflops for outdoors!
Ah! Yes, great call.
Awesome post. My fav are Okabashi – they have arch support and are made of recycled materials in Buford, GA. And they are not expensive. I like the ones with a heel because I’m 5’1″ but I keep a pair of the flat ones in the trunk of my car along with a swimsuit, shorts, t-shirt, and towel for impromptu beach trips. 😀
I love that you’re always ready for an impromptu beach trip, Robin! That’s amazing.
Birkenstock Honolulu Essentials are what I wear all summer around the house. They are perfect for running in and out dealing with watering, and are the most comfortable thing for me with the molded foot bed. When they get dirty you can just hose them off.
I will check them out! Those sound so convenient.
I wear my Birks when leaving home but use Aerothotic Light Weight EVA Sandals at home and in the yard. These have wonderful Arch support which I need. And, the straps are adjustable. Too, when they get dirty, I can wash them off. I found mine on Amazon.
So happy to hear your husband’s recovery is going well.
Whew, me too. We had a bumpy time in the beginning.
Thanks for all the flip flop info. It’s nice to know there are so many options for those of us with not so great feet.
My feet become more of a challenge every day! With my bunion I’m always on the hunt for comfort with style.
