In case you haven’t noticed, it’s very difficult to find a stylish pair of water shoes! When I was shopping for a pair to bring with me on my recent travels to visit my brother in Mexico, I had a hard time. I figured if I was on the hunt for them, then many of you might be as well! I decided to dive in and do the research for us on what is considered the best water shoes for women. There were a lot of ugly options out there, but I’ve rounded up the best-looking ones I could find.

Why You Need Water Shoes

Water shoes are extremely helpful for a number of scenarios: exercising in the pool, kayaking/canoeing, walking around beaches or lakes, or even on a boat. They’re typically lightweight, dry faster, and drain better than other shoes. Plus, a lot of them give you extra traction on the bottom, which is great if you’re going to be on rocky terrain. I’ve also seen a lot of people bring them on trips to the Caribbean if they are doing excursions like swimming with stingrays, sharks, etc.

Seafarer Slingback by Sea Star Beachwear

I was very excited to find these espadrille-style slingback water shoes from Sea Star. The neoprene fabric dries in 15 minutes, and they are cute enough that you could wear them to run an errand or grab lunch straight from the pool, beach, or lake without anyone noticing you are wearing water shoes. I’ve discovered they’re so comfy I wear them a lot just for their style and comfort. They don’t come in half sizes, so I recommend sizing up.

It’s the season for water shoes, and these are selling out pretty quickly.

SEAFARER SLINGBACK WATER SHOE

Teva Universal Sandal

The Teva Universal Sandal is a classic and versatile option that’s been around for a while. With adjustable straps and a durable sole, these sandals provide excellent traction and support. Plus, they come in a variety of colors to match any outfit! These are super popular with many ladies.

Merrell Hydro Moc

The Merrell Hydro Moc is a slip-on water shoe that is perfect for quick and easy access to the water. I know it’s not the most attractive shoe, but it had almost 4.5k reviews raving about them that I had to include. Merrell is known for its comfortable fit, which can be worn all day. They also have a durable sole that provides excellent traction on wet surfaces. These come in sizes 5-15 and have arch support!

ATHMILE Water Shoe

The ATHMILE Water Shoe is a great option for those who want a more athletic sock style for their water activities. I’ve seen many ladies wearing this style in the pool! They’re supposed to make you feel like you’re barefoot. These shoes have a quick-drying upper and a non-slip sole that provides excellent traction. They also have a comfortable fit and come in a variety of colors, like this fun floral print.

Aleader Mesh Water Shoe

The Aleader Mesh Water Shoe is more of an athletic option that you could wear both on water and land, especially if you don’t want to look like you have water shoes on. They actually look like tennis shoes but have holes in the bottom to drain the water easily. I like that you can adjust the tightness of the laces for a better fit!

Skechers Reggae-Irie Mon Sport Sandal

Up next, we have the Skechers Reggae-Irie Mon Sport Sandal. I love researching comfortable shoes, and a pair from Skechers almost always makes the list! With adjustable straps and a cushioned footbed, these sandals are highly rated and provide excellent support and comfort. They almost look like Chacos but have a better price tag!

DREAM PAIRS Adventurous Summer Outdoor Sandals

The closed-toe design of this outdoor sandal from Dream Pairs is ideal for protecting your feet, especially if your water activity has you swimming, wading, or hiking near sharp rocks. The combination of the velcro strap across the heel and the adjustable laces allows you to find the perfect fit for your foot. If you like this look, there are a variety of brands that make styles like this, including Keen.

Crocs Swiftwater Sandal

Made with Croslite foam, these sandals from Crocs have a cushioned footbed that molds to your foot for a personalized fit. What I like about these is that they look more like something you’d see by the pool or beach but can still get wet. Plus, they make rinsing your feet after being in the sand so much easier! They have a low-profile look that appeals to ladies who prefer a more minimalistic aesthetic.

Reef Water X Slide Sandal

If you’re looking for an easy slip-on footwear choice that can get wet, this pair from Reef is a great option! I love the faux rope texture that’s imprinted into the waterproof straps. I think you could easily get by wearing these for more than water activities… especially if you grab them in a neutral shade like Oasis. These could even double as a casual sandal for lunch or dinner.

Crocs Men’s Swiftwater Wave Sandal Flat

I know so many of you do the shopping for your husbands as well. If he is needing a new pair of water shoes for this year’s adventures, these Swiftwater Flats from Crocs are great! Make sure you size up a whole size for the best fit.

I ordered the seafarers in navy stripe for my days out on Lake Michigan and they are fantastic! Comfy and they look stylish. Canā€™t wait to wear them – currently itā€™s 45 degrees here in Chicago- but weā€™ll get there! šŸ™‚

    1. Awesome! I love mine.

  2. Some of the slip-on styles you showed are Ok for just slipping on coming home from beach- BUT will be totally useless IN the water. They will slip right off. We swim with manatees every year, and always wear either the sock style (caution, not good on rocky areas) or the lace-up tennis shoe-type (will stay on in the ocean).

  3. Love the slingback espadrille style…in my Amazon cart. great looking shoe since I don’t like open toe…….

    1. I get stopped in stores by women commenting on these :)!

  4. I really like your water shoes the best. They like ok like you could wear them anywhere. I have some old Timberland ones that have lasted forever!

  5. Keen Rose sandals are also great water shoes that look good on land as well, with a cute Mary Jane style. I love my Tevas, but we like to hike along rocky shores and it helps a lot to have my toes protected!

    1. Yes!! Keen are super popular.
