Patio Inspiration Ideas

If you’re looking to update your patio and outdoor entertaining game, there are a few easy ways to do so, especially with my finds below from Kohl’s.

1. Bumble Bee: Black, Yellow, and Neutrals

Black and Yellow Bumblebee Themed Patio Decor

If you’ve been following me for a bit, you know I have a thing for bees. When I saw this melamine set of dinner plates, I started going down a rabbit hole and used it to inspire this mood board of black, yellow, and neutrals.

  • How cute is this pathway stone you could put in your garden?
  • I may have to order these ice cream bowls for the summer because my husband loves ice cream! It’s great that they can put in both the dishwasher and microwave.
  • If you want to stick with solid color pillows, a patterned rug can change up your space. This one has 4.8 stars, over 1800 reviews, and comes in multiple colorways. I think the neutral is a nice balance of fun without being overwhelming.

2. Ocean: Serene Blues and Greys

Blue Palm Themed Patio Decor

If you prefer for your patio decor to be more serene and peaceful (similar to how I like my outfits), I put this one together for you! The combination of light blues, seafoam green, navy, and grey is very calming and reminds me of being near the ocean.

  • If you’re entertaining and eating outside, I love to keep a pitcher of water nearby. I love that this one holds 2 quarts and can hold both boiling hot and ice-cold beverages.
  • This 3 piece stoneware platter set is a must-have. It can go in the dishwasher, is oven-safe up to 350°F, and has deep curved walls to prevent spills. It’s perfect for serving apps, pasta, or even a salad.
  • This pouf is perfect to put your feet up on! It can also double as extra seating for when grandkids come over.

3. Americana: Red, White, and Blue

Between Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day, summer’s unofficial colors seem to be red, white, and blue. But, even if that’s not your vibe, this patio inspiration contains lots of practical items you may need to refresh.

  • When was the last time you checked your BBQ tools? It may be time for an update! I love that this 17-piece set comes in a case and has everything you would need. Plus, don’t forget to pick up this grilling tray while you’re at it.
  • This light for under your patio umbrella is genius. It comes with a remote that can easily turn it on and off.
  • Nothing says summer like a frozen drink, and this machine does just that. It’s a bit of a splurge but can be used for multiple summers.
  • If you want to add a touch of patriotic charm around the summer holidays, this pillow is a great way to do so without breaking the bank.
  • Whether you’re hanging by the pool or relaxing on the patio, a rolling cooler will save you many trips to and from the kitchen. Fill it with ice and drinks the night before, and you’re set.

  1. Fun posts! Looked over the sun hats, and patio decor. Thank you Jennifer for your happy attitude which is reflective in your lovely clothing choices, and taste!

    1. Happy Saturday Marcie

  2. Thanks for all the patio ideas 💡 Kohl’s has some great pieces.
Making me get in the mood for late Spring and early Summer. I

  3. We are having a huge party (graduations) next month, so we have been spiffing up the yard. I got new umbrellas for the tables since the old ones had faded. We got some new patio chairs to accommodate more guests. Now I think I’ll go find that rocking camping chair for me (and only me) to sit it.

  4. Carolyn W says:

Bees bring so much to the table. Not only do they look great for decorating one’s home, but they are essential for polluting many crops in California. Years ago, my husband, mother, and I had an apiary full of 150 beehives. We sold the honey and had some of them in an avocado orchard. I was stung several times, but the worst was when I dropped a hive on my feet and had not bothered to put on work boots. I feel bad for those allergic to a bee sting because it can hamper outdoor enjoyment.

    1. That sounds like a great adventure! I love honey too

    2. Carolyn: You gave me my chuckle for the day….Spellmesser (also known as autocorrect) managed to change pollinating to polluting in your comment. Nope, Spellmesser the Bees pollinate….humans pollute LOL

  5. I always decorate with red white and blue so I loved all those items.

    1. They’re so cheery

  6. I like those ice cream bowls! Perfect for morning cereal and very cheerful looking for breakfast. Not an ice cream person, no dairy. My covered patio is small. I would love to put a rug on it but worry about bird droppings. They seem to fly through and leave their messages, I have been here! It is so hard to remove from my cement floor on the patio that I’m afraid to put down a rug.

    1. We have a lot of birds too. An outdoor one should be able to be hosed off and come clean.

  7. My Mom (who grew up in Sac, CA) is a beekeeper, so for Mother’s Day, I found a bee motif fanny pack and I am filling it full of “Bee kind” to your skin & lips (Burt’s Bees) products. We are traveling to Greece together for a month and it will come in handy.

    1. What a fabulous idea!!

    1. Her things are so cool!

  8. Have you come across any bee jewelry, particularly necklaces in gold that do not look juvenile ?

  9. Thank you for all your nice ideas! I’ll be going to Kohls today to look at the patriotic pieces as well as the bee stepping stone and umbrella light.
