Let’s Get This Party Started
Happy New Year’s Eve! I’m betting no one is sorry to see 2020 in the rearview mirror. This year has been the pits for so many of us it’ll be great to move on. I seldom make resolutions and I haven’t chosen a guiding word for 2021 yet. After the year we’ve endured, I’m finding it more helpful to focus first on what went right in 2020. It’s all too easy to get distracted by the things that go wrong and I’m often guilty of sliding down that slope.
I propose that we count our blessings from this past year so that we start 2021 with a hopeful, grateful heart. Get a little journal if you like, and write them down as they occur to you. Seeing them written down makes them feel more concrete.
Now let’s talk about New Year’s Eve. We’ve celebrated it at home for years.

Parties were fun when we could go, but I always had a hard time staying up that late. Now we hang at home and pretend we’re on New York time. We watch the ball go down in Times Square and call it a night.
This is what I’ll be wearing to celebrate New Year’s Eve on my couch. I found the stretch velvet pants stacked on a table with pajamas at my local Loft. They didn’t look like pajamas but the salesperson insisted they were. The website tells me they aren’t PJ’s but they’re certainly as comfortable.
This soft sweater is covered with tiny little copper sequins that add a festive touch without being over the top. I can also see this styled with jeans for an easy day look. As much as I’m obsessed with my new Birdie shoes, they’ll be replaced by my black fuzzy slippers because we don’t wear shoes in the house.

Big sparkly earrings, a red lip, and I’m ready!
Thank you so much for allowing me to come into your lives and your email box this year. Your comments, honesty, and openness have made this a place where real connections are being made. Our community has helped many of us to feel less isolated and alone during this tough year. Virtual friends are real friends and I count many of you among mine.
Happy New Year and best wishes for a happy and joyous 2021 filled with peace, good health, and love.

Because of your comments about the black velvet pants I just ordered a pair. Thanks and Happy New Year.
Happy New Year, Jennifer! I often read, but rarely comment. We’ll be staying at home, too, but that’s not unusual for us on NYE.
Hi Jennifer……I’m new to your site and have had such fun going over all the old blogs.
Love your Loft outfit. It looks really comfy just perfect for a New Year’s Eve at home.
Looking forward to the new fashion tips this coming 2021. K. Ziegler
Wishing you good health, peace, love and joy in the new year Jennifer. Thank you for all your lovely posts. Also, love the all black outfit!
Happy New Year, Jennifer. We will be staying home (of course) with Chinese take-out and watching the ball drop in New York. Here’s hoping to a better new year, we sure do need it.
Happy New Year Jennifer. I have so enjoyed the blog, thanks for making it something we look forward to receiving each day.
You asked for things we would like to see in the 2021. I would like to see more of the idea that you did a few days ago, same slacks and jacket, but different sweater and/or blouse and different shoes. Some times it is easy to put an outfit together, but then maybe there is a better look after all.
Blessings for this new year, yes we have been blessed as a couple and family. Much to be thankful for in the midst of it all.
Happy New Year! Totally love this outfit, the sweater is beautiful, just that little sparkle to dress it up, and love the pants also😊this is something I would wear, without a doubt. You look soo pretty, the red lipstick, just brightens up the look and I like the vneck sweater without any jewelry added😊👍👍😊also very ready to say good bye to 2020….and bring 2021 with hopes of love, peace, health, and continued happiness throughout❤️🎉🍾🎉❤️
Happy New Year to Jennifer and everyone reading this blog. May we move into the new year with grace, gratitude, good health, and a gorgeous wardrobe!
Happy New Year! I spend almost every morning with you. I love your style. We have similar tastes!
Happy New Year Jennifer! Thank you for your helpful blogs! I enjoy reading them each day.
You cover just about all problems we women experience! We celebrate 🎉 at home too. At the stroke of midnight my husband goes out the front door to let the old year out and brings in the new year. An English custom.
I love that custom! Happy New Year
Happy New Year, and thank you for offering me a new creative outlet. I looked at my wardrobe with fresh eyes, and put together new outfits and accessories I’d never imagined before. Each day offered a little extra spark. Thanks Jennifer!
Jennifer, I have enjoyed reading your blog this year! I particularly like when you show an outfit 2 ways which allows for personal style preferences. It also shows how you can emphasize/de-emphasize body parts. Although not your specific challenge, my chest is large and I appreciate tips to play this down.
My word for 2021 is “friendship”. Although I feel strong connections to “gratitude” and “appreciation”, it is my friends and family that have sustained me through this most unusual year. Others, on your blog, have mentioned the importance of women friends and I am grateful for them and all of you! Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you and yours Jennifer, here’s hoping 2021 brings a fresh start and a break from this horrible pandemic for all of us.
Thank you for all your efforts on your blog. I always look forward to seeing what you have created.
All the best!
I have loved your blog this year because it was a bright spot every day in a misty gloomy year. I always think of myself as a loner but I realized this year that I’m not. I need the interaction with other people. I plan to get out more and have new adventures this year. Thanks for all
Ways being here for us even through the rough times you’ve had, I consider you a friend. Let’s do it again next year. Happy New Year Dear Heart!
I so much enjoy your blog every morning, Happy New Year.
Happy New year Jennifer!! Thank you for All you do for us!!
God bless you. I can’t wait to see what 2021 brings!!
Happy New Year Jennifer. Your blog has been so very helpful to me. You look just beautiful in this outfit. Blessings!
Happy New Year!! I start each morning by reading and enjoying your post! Thank you!!!
Absolutely your best look! HerNY. For all! My word for 2021 is ACCEPTANCE. But gratitude and resourcefulness came in second and third! 🎉🎉
I had three words which I drew from throughout this past year. They were Enjoy, Evaluate, and Evolve. Little did I know how 2020 would test those three little verbs!
For 2021 I plan to add THRIVE as my word this year to begin a new year with added hope and optimism! May we ALL Thrive in all we do to be our best selves!
