Casual T by Talbots Navy Outfit
Casual is the name of the game for most of us these days because often, the most exciting thing on our agenda is going to the grocery store! We want to look nice and be comfy in the process. I have an outfit today that does just that.Ā Thank you to Talbots and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post. All products were selected, purchased, and styled by me.
Talbots is one of my favorite destinations for high-quality classics that I’ll wear for years. Their wide size range means I can pick and choose to get the perfect fit for my shape. The good news is everything is now 40% off until 11/25!
Today I’m styling
Their smooth stretch waistband is super comfy so you could tuck or half tuck your top if you wanted. I went for loose and easy with this non-iron French Stripe shirt. I’m a huge fan of Talbots’ Perfect shirts so was thrilled to add another to my collection. I’ll wear this all year round and can already picture it with my white jeans. My shirt is a 10 regular which is standard for me because I have long arms and need the extra length.
I topped it with this cozy shaker knit sweater. It runs a bit large so I went down one size to an XS regular. Petite might have worked for me too, but I like this type of sweater on the longer side. The loose funnel neck is perfect for layering over a shirt or just adding a scarf.
Our weather is cold these days, but I do live in California, so a cotton-blend sweater is just about perfect most days. For jewelry, I just added these sweet Sterling Silver Teardrop earrings. They’re a subtle, classic look that’s perfect for every day.
I’m adding as much navy as possible to my wardrobe this year which coordinates beautifully with the Shiraz color of this Long Quilted Coat.Ā It’s not bulky and a great length to keep your backside warm. I never understood a coat for cold weather that stops at the waist! What happens when you have to sit on a cold bench or car seat?
I’m wearing a small regular. As with most Talbots garments, they’re available in regular, petite, plus, and plus petite. The sleeves on the petite were a smidge on the short side for me, plus the extra length is welcome in a coat like this.
I finished this look off with one of my very favorite purchases this fall, my Blue Suede Boots:) These seem to go with everything and I reach for them all the time. I’ve often suggested that during the years when your favorite colors are plentiful, you should stock up. For me, it’s navy and it’s this year! I just ordered this sweater dress and can’t wait to get it!
What color are you loving this year?
I really like that jacket! I purchased the Talbots leggings you recommended last week; one in each color, including shiraz. I’m guessing the jacket would work perfectly with the any of the three colors (black, navy, and shiraz). I haven’t purchased much new clothing since March, but these fall/winter posts are tempting me back. Hmmmm… those yoga pants look pretty good too.
It would go with tons of colors. Probably not red, though.
I am new to your blog and love it so far! Not sure what TTS means? Love the Ponte pants!
Welcome, Deb. TTS means it fits true to size.
Your new outfit looks fantastic on you! I love all of the pieces including the coat. Our Talbots is closed now because of Covid, but once our stores reopen that’s the first one on my list to visit. Thanks for showing us some very stylish and classic items!
Stay safe, Sharon.
I was critical last week so I will make up for it today! š¤š¤ I love this look. You look great in navy, the shirt is something I would have in my wardrobe all year as well. The jacket is terrific. Precisely what I would wear in CA! The photo of the dress did not load on my iPad. Stay well.
Happy Wednesday!
Yes…cozy at home is what we are about these days. Great post, Jennifer and I do love that quilted coat!
I do too, Pam.
Thanks, Pam!
I love Talbots, especially their classic jackets and sweaters. I did some gift shopping online yesterday. This year the color I am loving is fig, a darker burgundy.
Oh yes! Fig has caught my eye too.
I love navy, but struggle with the many different shades, which I feel āclashā with each other – its so hard to wear a ācolumnā of navy unless pieces are bought from the same store at the same time – and even them, different materials can have different shades – its not the same problem with black – is this my OCD, and I just need to āget over it? Or is this a real thing???
It is a real thing and I find the same problem with black. Navy can have warm or cool undertones. So long as the navy’s all have the same undertone, they will coordinate.
Great outfit and exactly what Iām wearing these days. I have those yoga pants in navy, also, and am going back for the black ones!
In the climate I live in, this length of coat would be classified more as parka or 3/4 length than long. With that said though; agree with you about such being warmer on the bottom (āŗ) however admit I feel a shorter more jacket length is far more versatile as looks nicer with skirts/dresses of all lengths including pants of most styles. As to the other pieces; all look very comfortable and do love the boots .
Agreed, a parka is a great term for this jacket.
What a wonderful post! Last year I retired and bought all three colors of the T pants. I lived in them. They are amazing. The black is especially slenderizing. I plan to wear them this winter, but will buy a couple more for extras. I also like the Oprah collaboration with Talbots.
Love your entire outfit, and love Talbots!!!
You look fantastic. Iām retiring in a few months and this look is perfect as I transition to a more casual life style! I love Talbots but never tried their yoga pants because I didnāt know how to style them. Iām adding them to my Christmas wish list!
I will be sharing other ways to style them as we go forward into the season.
I lived in 3 pairs of Talbots yoga pants last winter. They were comfortable, warm (Ottawa Canada) and retained their shape. LOVED them. A best buy. Looked good – easy to dress up or down.
Love this post because I’m all about comfort. I have the navy pants. Navy is the most common color in my wardrobe for basics, although brown’s and green’s have an appeal. I buy most of my pants at Talbots since they have the sizes you talk about, and have lots of options. Have been doing so for 40 years…working into retirement. I still have pairs from 20 years ago.
Their quality is amazing, as your wardrobe illustrates!
