Crowns and Buses

Happy Tuesday ladies. Iā€™m pretty sure itā€™s Wednesday here. We are ensconced in Budapest and busy seeing the sights. It’s vacillating between bright sun and torrential thunderstorms so I’m glad I packed for all occasions.

I traveled wearing black ponte knit pants, white no-iron shirt, tweed sweater/blazer, and sport sandals. I did have a small malfunction while traveling but it wasn’t with my wardrobe. Right before we boarded our second flight, I bit into a lifesaver and cracked a back crown in two.

I wasn’t blessed with good teeth. #understatement. Over the course of my adult life, I’ve needed multiple implants, root canals, and crowns. Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled life on grand staircase of Corinthia Hotel in Budapest wearing Chico's blazer and shirt.

By the time we finally got to our hotel, my hair was trashed more than usual. I have a theory on that and am putting my thoughts together for a post. I pinned it up with a classy banana clip, switched my earrings, swapped the necklace for a scarf and changed into closed toe mules for dinner out.grand staircase in Corinthia Hotel in Budapest

We were blurry eyed from being awake for 29+ hours (I can’t sleep on planes) so dragged ourselves to the Caviar and Bull, which is attached to our hotel.

Today we took the hop-on-hop-off bus around town to stay dry and save our energy. Yup, we’re those folks that take this bus in many cities we visit. Cheesy as it may seem, it gives you a broad overview so you know what to zero in on later. danube in budapest

This is the Danube but that’s not our cruise ship. Tomorrow we hope to wander around on foot when we’ve got some energy back.

Can you sleep on flights? How do you do it?

I hope to get better outfit pictures going forward. Today I wore the same no-iron white shirt as yesterday (no-iron is fabulous stuff) over a black tank and black jeans with a pink silk scarf and black sneakers.

Have a great one ladies.

  1. Jennifer, I like your cute eyeglasses, the greenish-gray oval cat eye ones. Would you share the brand?

    1. The brand is called Aspire. If you google the brand, it shows which opticians carry them.

What brand is your white no iron blouse? Love it. Going on same Biking Cruise in September- so I appreciate all your photos and descriptions. Also love your hat – what brand? Thank you for all advice!

  3. I started reading the inflight magazine and would feel drowsy. I would wake up when were taxiing or lifting off. After making sure that we were in the air, I would fall back to sleep again. Sad to say that reading, even though I like it a lot, puts me to sleep.

  4. I would love to see how you put your hair up in the banana clip. My hair is a little longer than yours but not long enough to put into a ponytail. I have been on a 6 week vacation in the humid south in our 5th wheel. Many days I wished I could get my hair off of my neck. Enjoy your trip!

    1. I just wrap it around my finger like a french roll then crimp it against the back of my head. Itā€™s not glamorous but keeps it off my neck.

  5. To sleep on a plane I use Ativan. I used to get very claustrophobic so have a prescription for it. Helps to relax and sleep with headphones, relaxing music and eye mask. I have a similar mouth with you. Dental implants, numerous root canals and crowns. Also an apicectomy. Don’t volunteer for it, but it has kept a tooth for an additional 3 years. ? . And yes, often flares up before a trip. Have a great one!!

Just back last night from 3 weeks in Europe. I donā€™t sleep on planes either. My crown cracked and half of it came out on Memorial Day! Such luck. Will be calling my dentist tomorrow. Safe travels.

  7. I don’t sleep on planes either. Wish I could! We’re just back from 3 1/2 weeks in Europe and I’m feeling severely jet lagged. Trying to stay awake until a suitable bedtime so that I can hopefully get back into a normal sleep/wake routine as soon as possible. I’m very interested in your cruise. Are you doing Budapest to Amsterdam? Which cruise company? We’ve looked at doing the Viking cruise between those two cities.

  8. I cannot sleep on planes either. Canā€™t wait for your travel posts, this is the trip Iā€™m wanting to do.

  9. I look at the flight as the price you pay to go have a fun adventure. I also look at it as time relax, read and watch movies that I never seem to take the time to do at home. Plus, someone else is fixing the meals and doing the dishes. Then, if I get sleepy, great! Trying to sleep always leaves me feeling frustrated. Seems I do much better with something to look forward to instead of something to dread.
A friend broke her tooth on a flight to Paris. Fortunately she was able to get in to see a dentist the 1st day and was able to get a crown in 3 days. The dentist very apologetically said he was very sorry he would have to charge her as she was not from the EU. Her bill….? 25 Euros.

    1. Thatā€™s a crazy price for a crown. Wow. American dentistry is so expensive. Youā€™re right about the movies on the plane. I watched 4 that I would never gotten to see in a theater.
