Outfit Inspiration For Staying At Home

Happy Friday ladies. It sounds like we will be staying home for a little while longer so I’m happy to be partnering with one of my very favorite stores, Nordstrom, to bring you some fun casual looks for sheltering at home. They invited me to create looks for their website last year which is an amazing honor and a ton of fun to boot. Creating these looks is a little like doing personal shopping and putting together outfits for occasions in our lives.

Right now, it’s all about looking and feeling our best as we stay in our homes. That means looks that help us as we work from home, keep fit, and comfy cozy loungewear for the self-care we all need right now.

Here are a few of my newest looks.

There are tons of free videos online these days so we can stay limber and in shape. Yoga also helps calm our nerves which I am really appreciating right now. Here’s an outfit to wear now for yoga at home and to your favorite studio once we get the all-clear.

If it’s dry where you are and you’re lucky enough to have a yard, gardening is a great way to burn off energy and get some fresh air. Remember to always protect your skin from the sun.

Most of us are spending way more time in the kitchen these days. If you are anything like me, you are bored silly with your recipes. Long hours in the kitchen call for super comfy shoes and easy casual clothes.

Have a peek at the rest of my looks here.

Are there looks you’d like me to create for you? Please share in the comments.

Nordstrom is my favorite department store for many reasons, not the least of which they always offer free shipping both ways, which makes shopping online a breeze. You can also join their Nordy club (free here) which has tons of benefits including earning points for every dollar you spend.

Thanks for reading ladies and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.

xx

A big thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post.

  1. 3 cheers for Nordstrom Canada which offers us Canadians free delivery & returns as well as duty free shopping! I have alread bought several items. I have always loved Nordstrom!

    1. My daughter is over the moon about that!! Way to go Nordstrom

  2. I have slacked off big time with my wardrobe. I have breakfast each morning outside in my garden by the pool watching the birds and other wildlife find refuge in my garden. I then spend the afternoon; fishing bird feathers out of the pool, scrubbing the purple coloured bird poo off my stone pavers and trying to repair the front lawn where a starling has taken up residence and has dug up a good portion of the lawn. Therefore, my wardrobe is pretty basic and garden friendly. Even when shopping, I have my ‘corona clothes’ which get chucked into the washing machine when I get home. I am impressed with women who have maintained their standards.

    1. It sounds like you have a ton of birds. Hang in there, Susan.

      1. We had a duck swimming around in the pool one day. Anyone would think we lived in a country (rural) area, but we are smack bang in the inner suburbs. Thank you for keeping up with your blogs and some sense of normalcy is needed at the moment.

  3. I enjoyed browsing through these but have apparently completely lost any desire to shop (sigh). I think it’s at least partly the weather. It’s raining today & the mountains around us have new snow & you can feel it down here in the valley. I’m wearing a short-sleeved tee under a long-sleeved turtleneck under a heavy hoodie, knit leggings & heavy socks. And this is in the house! When my husband & I went for our walk this morning I threw on a fleece-lined denim vest I often wear when we’re on the bike because it cuts the wind. And a scarf. I looked like the Michelin Man & while my husband sweetly refrained from laughing, he put on his heaviest leather motorcycle jacket! I’m going to be sooo glad when we’re finally blessed with warm weather. Maybe my interest in shopping will pick up then, too šŸ™‚ In the meanwhile, thank you — & I mean that! — for giving me something to look forward to.

I am recovering from Achilles Tendon surgery with a cast up to my knee. This makes dressing almost impossible. My best bet are T shirt dresses or long midi skirts. I admire the way you are dressing up. I do not even wear make up unless I have to see the doctor. I can pretend to look decent through you. Our tastes are much the same.

I like seeing these ideas when shopping on websites. They’re very helpful. Even if I don’t use exactly what’s depicted, it gets me thinking of my current wardrobe as well as ups my creativity. It’s cool that now I’m familiar with one of the creators!

Nordstrom is lucky to have you work with them!

How about some looks for those Zoom meetings? Comfy below the waist, but professional on top? THAT is my life 3 mornings per week these days!

  7. Thanks for putting all these awesome looks together for us!

  8. Congratulations on your Nordstrom collaboration! A real women putting together outfits for us – imagine! šŸ‘

Iā€™ve spent many hours in the garden since self isolating started. It has been a life saver. Being outside in the fresh air and sunshine, and talking to neighbours in their yards, has helped in keeping my sanity. That, and two daily walks with my dog.

Iā€™ve kept my wardrobe choices the same. I donā€™t want to fall into wearing slouchy, comfy clothes. I dress for myself and my husband. It keeps me feeling normal, and we need that in these times.

    1. Thank you, Joanna. I love working with them. I haven’t changed how I dress either…other than my footwear.

  9. Itā€™s always fun to look at all the new clothing options available each season. After adding a couple basic pieces to my closet, I am trying to mix these with my existing wardrobe to reinvent some new looks.
I donā€™t see a quick change coming to my shelter in place routine. For those of us at a certain age, we will need a vaccine before we can safely resume our previous activities.
I need some new ideas for creating healthy, tasty meals.
We are having beautiful, sunny days and we are able to spend several hours a day in our yard and garden.
I am increasing my daily walks and absolutely love that time. Itā€™s not only great physically but mentally also.
Stay strong, be kind and forever grateful.

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment, Ginny. It put a big smile on my face.

    Jennifer
I enjoyed this post so much. I ordered two of the weekend casual tie front blouses!
Tomorrow will be an afternoon on the deck with the pressure washer! Keeping busy!
Still working a bit, mostly from home.
So glad to see about your good health news!
    Deborah

    1. Thank you. Powerwashing the deck must mean the weather has turned nice for you! Don’t forget your sunscreen:)
