Great Picks From Talbots Red Door Sale

I’ve been living in comfortable and casual outfits lately, and these cropped wide leg jeans are not only comfy, but super easy to wear. I love the casual light denim wash, and they are the perfect cropped length to showcase your sandals or sneakers. I’m right on the cusp of petite sizing at 5’4″, so I opted for the misses size 6, which hits me right at the ankle. This length will work for me going into fall when I want to wear socks and booties, which will slip under the leg nicely.

I paired them with this sleeveless split neck top that’s made with 100% cotton, which is one of my go-to fabrics for hot summer days. This means that it’s not only ultra-breathable but also super soft to the touch and reminds me of a t-shirt material. I don’t usually lean toward heavy patterns or feminine details, but I couldn’t resist this pretty blue embroidery detailing. You can also find this top in a bright apple red.

This 100% linen cardigan is the third layer I’ve been missing in my warm-weather wardrobe. I have several cropped summer sweaters, but I like this hip-length for going over tops that I have tucked in. It’s also perfect for slipping into your tote bag in case the air conditioning is blasting in the car or at dinner. I grabbed it in white to make a ‘set’ with the embroidered tank, but you could go for a coordinating look with the shade Blueberry Hill, or it’s available in tan, green, coral, and turquoise.

I stopped into my local store to see what else was on sale, and no surprise…, I found a few more great pieces. I also made a fun discovery when I realized I liked these wide leg crop jeans in the petite length, as well!

I prefer this length with open sandals in the hot weather because seeing a bit more ankle with a sleeveless top is a better balance on me and feels just right for summer. As I’ve mentioned, it’s tough being on the ‘cusp’ of petite, so I’m grateful Talbots always offers me the choice to shop the exact same garments in both sections. When I move to a petite, I always go up one size for a perfect fit.

I also spotted this navy star sweater tank, which feels festive and goes with everything white in my summer wardrobe. I was worried it would be too hot for our sweltering July temps since it’s described as a sweater, but it’s made with a soft, ribbed cotton material, so I didn’t feel uncomfortable even in the midday heat. It resembles a little vest, so I think it’ll be fun to style it over a white button-down or under a white blazer as we transition into cooler weather.
