Great Pieces From Chico’s For Fall 2024

I have two Chico’s near me. This week, I visited the smaller one and found some great pieces from Chico’s fall 2024 collection. I plan to also head over to my larger one soon to check out their new holiday collections, which are hitting the racks.

CABLE HOOP EARRINGS / LIPSTICK IN “CHARMING PINK”

A try-on is when I go into a store and style their latest collection so readers can see what’s new and get some ideas for how they can wear it. I’m not shopping for myself and seldom buy clothes because I prefer to shop online. My hair gets pretty trashed, and I’m often barefoot. For size reference, I’m 5’4″, which puts me on the cusp of petite. I have wide shoulders and straight hips with no obvious curves. Loft sizing is 0-18, in regular, petite, and tall lengths. Chico’s sizes are 000(0/XS),  (0/2– XS), 0 (4/6 S), 1 (8/10-M), 2 (12-14)-L, 3 (16/18-XL) 4 (20/22-XXL. They also carry many garments in petite and some in tall.

JULIET PONTE ANKLE PANTS IN COCOA BEANS size 0.5 / ZENERGY CASHMERE BLEND COWL size 1 / SIMILAR SHOES

These Juliet ponte pants appear black, but they’re actually the most gorgeous chocolate brown. They’re a pull-on style, which keeps everything smooth in front under your tops. The fabric is a substantial knit that holds everything while it smoothes things out. Hard to beat that! They come in 13 gorgeous colors this season, including lots of great neutrals. They do come in petite and tall.

I topped it with this Zenergy cashmere blend cowl pullover in English cream, which is incredibly soft. The top comes in 4 colors to coordinate with lots of their other Zenergy bottoms. I’m wearing a 1 and like the relaxed fit.

JULIET PANT IN URBAN TAUPE size 1P / CAVIAR TRIM V-NECK PULLOVER size 1

Here are the same pants…this time in taupe and petite. I sure love this color, and what a great neutral it is. I went up a size when I went down to petite because everything is scaled a bit smaller. I like the fit of these for me to wear with flats or sneakers. I’m pairing them with this v-neck sweater that would be a workhorse in your wardrobe. In fact, I styled it with 4 looks just in this post!

CAVIAR TRIM V-NECK PULLOVER size 1 / PLEATED KNIT SKIRT size 0

This pleated knit skirt is fabulous. It simply pulls on and is very comfy. I like to fold over the waistband of this type of skirt to get the length I want. You could have them hemmed, but I’ve not found that necessary because I always cover the top of the skirt. I love the idea of this skirt with a simple sweater and denim jacket with flat booties. This also comes in the British cream color, which looks so elegant, and I think I would prefer it for me.

TWEED DOUBLE BREASTED SWEATER BLAZER size 1 / CAVIAR TRIM V-NECK PULLOVER size 1

I simply popped this festive red plaid jacket over the column of black and felt ready for the holidays! I love the cropped length, knit construction, and flattering shape. Its cropped length makes it petite-friendly and pretty versatile. The fabric doesn’t have spandex, but the fiber blend has some slight stretch, so it moves when you do. This was my favorite piece from the try-on. I can see this trio dressed up for work or a holiday party and each individual piece could be dressed down.

SO SLIMMING FLARE JEANS size 1P / CAVIAR TRIM V-NECK PULLOVER size 1 / TWEED DOUBLE BREASTED SWEATER BLAZER size 1

I swapped out the black pleated skirt for these So Slimming flare jeans in a deep, undistressed wash. I was delighted to find lots of petite bottoms on the racks in my store. Since the jeans are petite, I particularly like the little cropped jacket with them. These jeans are fitted through the hip, seat, and thighs before they flare out from the knee down. They have 2% spandex which makes them comfy to wear, and also come in a great red!

SWEATER BLAZER size 1 / SO SLIMMING FLARE JEANS size 1P /

This fabulous sweater blazer comes in 3 rich colors in this collection. The knit is soft and pliable, but it still has enough structure to look like a blazer rather than a cardigan. It runs generously, so I would be tempted to see how the zero fits on me since it doesn’t come in petite. It’s a very comfy jacket, and I could see tossing over so many things this season. Under it, I am wearing this Eco-vert mock-neck sweater in English Cream. Not all of us like turtlenecks, so this mock neck is a nice alternative. It comes in 7 colors and has snap details along one shoulder seam.

MIXED TWEED FRING JACKET size 1 / BRIGITTE 360 SLIM PONTE PANT IN GRAY SMOKE size 0.5 /
BUTTON CUFF TURTLENECK IN DEEP RAISON size 1

These slim-leg Brigitte pants appear black, but they’re charcoal gray. The fabric is a lovely smooth knit, much like the ponte of the Juliet pants. This leg is much slimmer than this Juliet pants. I’m wearing them with this Ecovert turtleneck in raisin color. These turtlenecks are fabulous, and I’ve had them in my wardrobe for years. I topped it with this mixed tweed fringe jacket in charcoal and white. This jacket is also a little cropped, which I’m finding to be a great proportion. The fabric is a wool blend without stretch, so it feels like a more substantial blazer.

MIXED TWEED FRING JACKET size 1 / SO SLIMMING FLARE JEANS size 1P / NO-IRON FITTED WHITE SHIRT size 1

The narrow leg of the Brigitte pants did not look like a flattering proportion with the plaid blazer, so I switched back to the flare jeans. I think the narrow legs would work better if they were tucked into boots, which would add more visual bulk at the bottom.

HERE ARE A FEW HOLIDAY PIECES I SPOTTED

Are you a fan of Chico’s fashion? I’m curious how many of my readers love it.

  1. I love Chicos and have become more of a fan watching your blog. Thanks for keeping us updated.

  2. I love Chicos jeans! I find their trouser jeans to be my very favorite for comfort and looks. I’m only 61 1/2” tall so petite is a necessity. The petite inseams are getting longer and that is frustrating. Do they think people are growing at 80? You looked terrific in all of you choices.

  3. Jennifer, your hair looks great … and not just today! Are you doing anything different? New products? Tools? Love to know what you do and how you do it. It’s certainly working!

    1. I do need to do an update on my hair. Yes, I am using a few new tools and finally got it cut by my regular stylist!

  4. Carla Kirkpatrick says:

Thank you for keeping me up to date on what to wear in my 60’s! I have been meaning to go through the list of the stores you do “try ons” in. Next I would like to list which have stores in Canada and which will ship to Canada. Maybe you have already done this.

    1. I have not made a list but I know that Nordstrom now delivers to Canada again. You do have Eileen Fisher and Talbots there as well. I’ll see if I can get a list together for you.

  5. Chico’s sweater blazer is a real winner this season. I have 3 of this. Can’t say enough about the fire, comfort and style . Glad you showed the green one.

    1. I agree, it’s terrific

  6. Elizabeth says:

I like Chicos too. I love adding patterns to solid foundation pieces and Chicos always has interesting ones. The clothes are well made and reasonably timeless. I prefer to buy them on sale so I wait for the end of the season.

  7. Julie Traxler says:

I like Chicos for some things. My personality doesn’t lean towards lots of extravagant design . But saying that, I have purchased their first trouser jeans, and I love them! They might have turned a corner and incorporated clothes for classic and slightly boho ladies.

    1. I lean toward the more classic designs so that’s what I show

  8. At least half my closet is Chicos. I have to be careful of their floral prints however. They often are too loud and old looking. I prefer the classic colors and styles like the sweater blazer and plaid jackets you tried on. Thank you for showing the comparison and how the flare pants worked for the plaid jacket.

  9. Is double breasted a trend? If so, it’s another one I’ll sit out. I look like a sausage in a double breasted jacket.

    1. Not a specific trend I know of, but always popular in the fall.

  10. Katrina Dean says:

Question: has your hair gone totally silver now? Hard to tell from the pics!

    1. It is still peppered with a few streaks of my blonde, mostly in the back.

  11. I do have a question that perhaps you can address in a future post. You mentioned that when you went to a petite-sized garment you sized up. I am 5’4″ and once in a blue moon can wear something in a petite size. I am long-waisted and have long arms and legs, so few petite clothes work for me. The few times I have purchased a petite item, I have to go up a size. I usually wear a misses 4 or 6. In petites I would have to try a 6 or 8. I understand that petite sizes are not just designed for women who are shorter; they are for women with a smaller frame. (I do not have a petite-sized frame!) Therefore, the shoulders on a top are more narrow. Armholes are not as deep. I understand this, but I still wonder why manufacturers do not have more size equivalence between their misses and petite range. I’d like a petite size 6 to be closer in a size to a misses size 6. Why should a misses size 6 be closer to a petite size 8?? But, I suppose that leads to my generalized gripe about the overall lack of standard sizing in women’s clothing.

I like some of Chico’s offerings, but I think their sizing is kind of goofy, and I find it to be inconsistent. I have two of their bungee dresses in size 00. I tried on a .5 in store (they did not have anything smaller to try) and decided that I would need to go down two sizes when I ordered. Luckily, I guessed right. I bought a gorgeous blouse on Thredup in a size .5 and had to return it because it was incredibly tight over my chest. But, I have a peplum jean jacket in a size .5 that fits beautifully. I have another Chico’s jacket that was purchased in-store in size 1. The size .5 was tight in the chest. I find this kind of sizing inconsistency in many brands and it is annoying. I find that I now do most of my shopping online because there is more choice. However, the need to exchange frequently is very irritating!

    1. I agre with you about the sizing dilemma. It is frustrating and I wish they would do more to explain the fit on their website.

  12. You look fabulous in everything you tried on. Love all the jackets and the v neck sweater. Wish we still had a Chico’s!

  13. I currently have a couple of t-shirts and a skort from Chico’s. Many of their tops don’t come in petite sizing, which really fits my narrow shoulders and shorter arms better. Also, my style personality is more classic minimalist, and some of their clothes are a little too fussy or dramatic for my personal aesthetic. I’m tempted by some of the pants that you’re modeling that do come in petites, though!

    1. The Brigitte and Juliet pants are wonderful

  14. Hi Jennifer! My comment is about a prior post you had about dry eyes and the Bruder eye mask. I wanted to read again about your experiences with dry eye products. Could you please list the link to that post? Thanks so much.

  15. Teresa Landers says:

Yes I have become a Chico’s convert. Years ago I thought of the brand as directed at oversized old ladies, but then they really stepped up their game. Some of their jewelry gets very positive feedback.

  16. Good ol’ Chico’s. We can always count on them to come up with stylish, quality looks for our demographic at a reasonable price. Great choices. They pulled out of Canada which was hugely disappointing.

  17. I love Chico’s. I buy from them several times a year but frequently buy their pieces used because I can almost always count on what size I would wear in an item without trying it on. I also love that they have so many three-quarter sleeve items for my short arms. The large majority of my wardrobe is from Chico’s.

  18. Joann Czarny says:

Jennifer, the knit jackets really make the outfit. I love them!

    1. Their knit jackets are fabulous!

  19. Love Chicos! Half my closet is from there, I cannot go onto the store without buying something. Those flare jeans are great. I’m also a petite, so will be putting those in my cart! The cashmere cowl is something I would wear a lot too!
