Holiday Outfits at Kohl’s

This post is sponsored by Kohl’s and ShopStyle Collective! Thank you for supporting the brands that support AWSL.

With Thanksgiving in our rearview mirror, it’s full steam ahead for the holiday season. Many of you may celebrate at home, and some will have office parties, dinner parties, or festive occasions to get dressed up. I’ve got two holiday looks for you today. One that is seasonal, one that is more timeless with pieces you can easily mix and match.

Holiday Outfits at Kohl’s

DRAPER JAMES LONG SLEEVE COLLAR SWEATER size M / DRAPER JAMES PLAID STRAIGHT LEG PANTS size M / DRAPER JAMES RUBY PEARL STATEMENT EARRINGS / LIFESTRIDE SHOES / DRAPER JAMES MINI QUILTED CLUTCH BAG

This time of year, plaids come out in full force. These festive Draper James pants have a straight leg and a 29″ inseam. The description says they’re pull-on pants, but they’re woven with a classic fly and hook closure.

I paired them with this simple black sweater that has a detachable beaded collar. It’s a subtle bling you could dress up for parties or down for running errands. The quilted clutch bag has a detachable crossbody strap, so you can wear it hands-free…which I always find helpful. It also comes in navy or fig color.

PLAID PANTS / LIFESTRIDE SHOES

Here’s a closeup of the black heels. They come in seven colors, sizes 5-12 in medium and wide! I love the asymmetrical strap with elastic gore that stretches when you walk and stays securely on your foot. They have a pointed toe, but the medium is plenty wide enough for me.

SIMPLY VERA PINTUCK TUNIC BLOUSE size S / DRAPER JAMES PULL-ON VELVET PANTS size S / STRAPPY PUMPS / SHOULDER BAG / EARRINGS / LIPSTICK IN RUBY RED

If red isn’t your thing for the holidays, how about this soft burgundy tunic with some velvet pants? This Simply Vera pintuck blouse comes in five colors, sizes XS-XXL. It has a tie to close and a high neck with ruffles. It’s got a slight shirttail hemline that’s a tiny bit longer in the back, so it works well over leggings and slim pants.

These pull-on velvet pants have just the stretchy waistband I appreciate during the holidays. They have a slim leg and are super comfy, which makes them perfect for dinners out.

VELVET PANTS / LIFESTRIDE PUMPSĀ

I paired them with these faux suede pumps that also have asymmetrical stretch straps. This toe is an almond shape with a foam footbed. They come in four colors, sizes 5-11, medium and wide width. I paired both outfits with these Draper James Ruby and Pearl Statement earrings and Ruby red lipstick.

  1. Love that black sweater with the touch of bling that is removable! Double the wear!

  2. I really love both of these holiday outfits, especially the plaid pants. How festive! I really like to actually shop at a brick and mortar store and we have two Kohls here and one has petites so I’m heading there.

  3. Cara MacNinch says:

You look great in both outfits Jennifer! I especially love the plaid pants outfit. Plaid is one of my favorites. Thanks for the great blog post.

  4. I miss shopping at Kohlā€™s, especially during the holidays. But I live too far away now or Iā€™d jump in the car and check out the sales. I used to find the best deals on holiday towels and decor.

  5. Love the plaid pantsā€”so festive! Thanks, Jennifer, for highlighting these reasonably priced and stylish items from Kohlā€™s.

  6. Deborah S. says:

I love this post! I never even think of Kohlā€™s for clothes – not sure why too, but I definitely will from now on! Stylish, affordable and so classy – just like youā£ļø Thanksā€¦

    1. They have great things!! Thank you

  7. Thank you for posting medium income clothing. So many canā€™t afford Nordstrom, Ann Taylor, Chicos. You showed that we can look just as stylist. I really like the pin tuck blouse.

  8. Both outfits are lovely. And I really like the shoes. Thank you for highlighting reasonably priced items. Many donā€™t have the financial resources to pay several hundred dollars for each item of clothing, so it is nice to know that a beautiful look can be achieved, without destroying the budget. I have purchased several items you have highlighted over the last couple of weeks, including that beautiful velvet jacket you wore in last Mondayā€™s post! Thank you for all the work you put into each post.

    1. My pleasure! I firmly believe that great style is available at all price points.

  9. Jan Meyer says:

Thanks for checking out Kohls. Nice variety in your content and ideas!

  10. Jennifer you look gorgeous in the plaid slacks outfit! I love everything about it! I have always been afraid to wear slacks with a print – particularly plaid. I have thought they would make me look bigger. You look positively tiny in them. I may have to give it a try.

    1. Plaid and prints do enlarge the area they’re on, which is why I seldom if ever, wear them on my top half, which is my largest.

  11. I love the outfit but the pants do not come in petite so that lets me out, I can always find things fo others in Kohls but not so much for me.

  12. Looking festive and as usual you just look great in clothes! Love the velvets!
Must check out Kohlā€™s again. Havenā€™t been there in quite awhile and the last time I did they were constructing Sephora? I think thatā€™s what it was. It was kind of messy there. Lol.

    1. Yes, they now have Sephora inside!

  13. Big fan of Draper James. Haven’t shopped at Kohl’s much since my sons were small. Their brands and styles just haven’t thrilled me. Now that Kohl’s and Land’s End have a relationship, it is nice to have options with the DJ brand since the former has so many more physical locations for easy returns.

  14. Iā€™m loving all the festive outfits, especially liking all the burgundy shades! You look fabulous as always!

    1. Thanks so much…I do love burgundy shades best with my cool complexion

  15. I love both of these looks, especially the velvet pants! Great pricing too.

  16. I envy those who can wear a true red however due to my skin tone I can’t. As to Kohl’s the closest one to me is about 5 hours away (and that is in good weather) but it was a place I would shop at particularly when the grandchildren were little as felt their pricing was affordable (at the rate they would outgrow everything so quickly). Do love the pieces you featured as very festive! -Brenda-
Tip: For those who might feel a heel is too high, depending upon its shank often a shoemaker/cobbler often can shorten it up. To give you an idea as to how much; place the shoe/or boot on a flat surface (counter or table) facing away from you with its heel overlapping and slide the heel to meet the counter’s edge which will indicate the finished height and how much can be taken off. (Hope the instructions makes sense …. šŸ™‚.)

    1. I have shared that cobbler tip before and can attest, it’s a great one!!

  17. Hi Jennifer,

I am heading to Kohlā€™s today. Thanks for the lovely ideas.

Have a great week. Loved your and hubbyā€™s photo at Lake Tahoe.
    Beautiful couple!

    1. Let me know what you find in the store!

  18. I really like those black velvet pants-plan to check those out in store this week!

    1. They are really comfy…perfect for holiday dinners etc šŸ™‚

  19. I really love the first outfit, but the neckline is too high for me, and I’m not a fan of that bit of sparkle….but the pants and shoes are so cute….I might try the pants, with a different black top..but really festive……Happy start to the holiday season….

  20. Could I ask what size faux fur vest from Chicos you are wearing in one of your previous posts? I have never shopped there before and wanted to order online.
Thank you and I am enjoying your blog šŸ˜Š

    1. I am wearing a 0 but could also have worn a 1…I have been eating too many goodies lately šŸ™‚

    2. Hi Peggy,

I was in Chicos today to look at the faux fur vest. In the brown, they only had a 0 and in the white , only a 2.

The 0 is a small and it was slightly too small for me. The shoulder seam of the vest was just inside my shoulder line. I had on a bulky top and it might have been okay if I had taken that off, but I didnā€™t. I usually wear small or mediums in tops. The 2 size looked ridiculous.

If I decide to order the vest, will go with a 1. I am full busted 34D. 5ā€™6ā€ 136 lbs.

  21. Mary Ann Johnson says:

Thanks for showing outfits from less expensive store. I love the red top.

    1. DiannešŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ says:

Love the red plaid pants, a super idea for those who canā€™t wear red!
The velvet is always lovely in the winter.
Thanks so much for my Nordstrom gift card!
What a fun surprise,I love a reason to shop.

      1. YAY, have fun shopping with your gift card Dianne, and thanks for reading!

  22. Love all the reds and burgundyā€™s for the holidays!

  23. Melinda Beckett says:

Thanks for your holiday post from Kohlā€™s. I will definitely check them out at my local store this week. I especially love you in the plaid slacks and black top. I like the classic heels, too.

    1. The heels were surprisingly comfy. Having wides available really helps.

  24. I love both outfits. Festive looking.
However, I want to know about your hair. You mentioned Nioxen, the hot curlers and collagen. How do these products work? Is there anything else you use? My hair is thinning and I needs some new products.
    Gloria

    1. I also take this Nutrafol every morning and have for several years. As I said, I canā€™t say which is doing what, but my stylist recommended I stick with this, so I do.

  25. SuzanneGabrielle says:

I find red very flattering on me so I am always on the lookout for light-weight fabric tops and dresses in that color. I live in SW Florida so velvets and taffeta are almost never an option.

  26. Thank you Jennifer for showing some very pretty and affordable options for holiday dressing. I can’t get my head around what some of my favorite retailers are charging–even with Black Friday/Cyber Monday specials. The black sweater is understated and elegant and may be calling my name–did you find it comfortable or itchy? I’m finding my skin is really sensitive to higher nylon content in sweaters.

    1. Itā€™s not scratchy at all. Iā€™m finding some of my cashmere very scratchy these days and assume it must be drier skin.

  27. Rhoda Clark says:

Am totally in love with your selections from Kohlā€™s. Will definitely have to visit my local store and check them out. I love wearing red, just about any time of the year, but especially at the Holidays. With my coloring I found that a red with a blue base works best for my complexion. So it usually comes out as a deeper berry red,

    1. Red is such a cheery color!

  28. Absolutely love you Holiday outfits. So Merry and Bright.
The plaid pants are great. šŸ˜€

  29. You look great in both outfits! I prefer the first outfit as it is my style. Thank you for sharing affordable fashions.
    Suzanne
