The Benefits Of Copper Peptides and Other Musings

I love experimenting with makeup, skincare, body care, and hair care often. Rather than dedicate an entire post to my empties each month, I’ve decided to do them as they occur in my Monday Musings. Today, I’ve included the benefits of copper peptides for the skin, just to give it some context.

I’m just finishing up my second bottle of this NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum 3, and it won’t be my last. It’s a collagen boosting serum that helps repair damaged tissue. This water-like blue liquid sinks into my skin in seconds and contains a mix of peptides, hyaluronic acid, and zinc.

COPPER AMINO ISOLATE SERUM 3

Here’s How Copper Peptides Help Your Skin

  • Copper peptides are said to promote wound healing and help with skin regeneration.
  • Copper is an anti-inflammatory that can speed up wound healing, which helps with scarring, pigmentation, and the redness caused by inflammation.
  • Copper peptides work as an antioxidant to promote collagen and elastin production.
  • It can help even out skin tone.
  • These copper peptides can also help calm breakouts, acne inflammation, blotchiness, blemishes, redness, and rosacea.

I bought it to try for my rosacea and have noticed an overall brighter complexion. If I do get a flareup, it seems to resolve quicker, and the red marks don’t last as long.

COPPER AMINO ISOLATE SERUM 3 / LOW VISCOCITY CLEANING ESTER / NƉCESSAIRE THE BODY SERUM / TOWER 28 DAILY RESCUE SPRAY

I’m halfway through my second bottle of this NIOD Low Viscosity Cleaning Ester. I don’t pretend to understand how this works, this super gentle cleaner simply disolves everything! I no longer need to use Micellar water to remove my makeup before washing my face and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped. I’m going to try to decant some to bring on my trip this week…it’s that good.

I also ordered and tried this NIOD Fractionated Eye-Contour Concentrate. (who comes up with these names?) It was so unimpressive, I didn’t even finish the bottle.

NƉCESSAIRE THE BODY SERUM (MOISTURIZER)

I’ve gone through multiple bottles of this NĆ©cessaire Body Serum and just love how it makes my arms and legs feel. It’s a hyaluronic acid serum treatment for the body that’s fragrance-free and cruelty-free. It soaks in rapidly and never feels greasy. If the furnace has been blowing full blast and my skin is really dry, I will top this with a moisturizer.

TOWER 28 SOS DAILY RESCUE SPRAY

This Tower 28 SOS spray has been part of my skin care rotation since we were all wearing masks during the pandemic. It’s a Hypochlorous Acid spray that kills bacteria on my skin and helps with redness. The name sounds pretty scary but it’s incredibly gentle with strong antimicrobial properties. It’s used in wound healing and skin disinfecting.

FAVORITE BRUDER EYE COMPRESS

My eye doctor has me spraying a tissue and wiping around my eyes with the Rescue Spray after I use my heated eye compress at night just to be sure everything is sanitary.

I spotted this Tower Skin Barrier Redness Recovery Moisturizer, and SOS Intensive Redness Relief Serum at Sephora last week and I’m extremely curious about them. I find stress really makes my rosacea flare up so I’m always on the hunt for natural ingredients that will help keep it under control.

Antartica

In other news, my daughter just returned from a wild adventure to Antartica! She has an amazingly adventurous spirit that reminds me so much of my mom. I briefly toyed with the idea of joining her but realized, I don’t have the same wanderlust that she does. I guess that gene skipped a generation.

Interestingly, most of her fellow travelers on this expedition were in their 60s, 70s, and older. Is this type of cruise something that would appeal to you? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

SAVE OR SPLURGE

These save or splurge posts are always popular, so as promised, we have a new one today. They may feel a bit like a parlor game but they also point out that price is not an indicator of style. Let’s compare these two monochromatic winter outfits.

CHINOS / SWEATER / CROSSBODY BAG / LOAFERS / EARRINGS / BRACELET

You could find me happily wearing either outfit or a mixture of these pieces most days. It starts with an ivory sweater, tan chinos, neutral suede loafers, and a taupe-colored crossbody bag. I added simple gold earrings and a cuff bracelet.

PANTS / SWEATER / CROSSBODY BAG / LOAFERS / EARRINGS / BRACELET

This is an easy outfit that many of you could also recreate from things in your wardrobe.

The splurge outfit comes in at around $ 1,866.00, and the save outfit is closer to $272.00. Can you tell which is which? Was there any one item that tipped you off?

  1. Jennifer, this is a day late, due to my attempts on my I- pad disappearing just before I pressed ‘send’… so frustrating. I’m sitting at my computer for better results.
I love the winter white outfits and have the pieces to put together…Athleta pants, same sort of loafers from consignment, cashmere turtleneck, and even a cream bag. Presto!
I am a traveller, a late starter, due to more time in retirement and available funds from an inheritance. Thank you Auntie Anna!
I may have written this previously, but I encourage you and others looking for a river cruise to check out Uniworld. I have sailed down the Rhone from Lyon to Arles, and the Rhine from Basel to Amsterdam, but my favourite was this past summer. It did not include a river, but the Venetian lagoon. La Venetzia is Uniworld’s recently redesigned ship which basically becomes your floating hotel while exploring Venice and local islands and villages. The excellent excursions are included and do not involve coach trips, except for one afternoon trip to a winery. An early morning visit to the Doges Palace, and an evening lighting of the interior of Saint Marks Cathedral means that guests are not part of the tourist crowds at all. Walking trips through Venice give you a true sense of this magical city, and the visits to Chioggia and Burano are so interesting. There’s more to discover but I chose to skip a couple of trips to pause and enjoy the ship, which is exquisite. My even numbered cabin was facing the Guidecca Canal, rather than facing the customs building dockside. So many types of boats going back and forth as you enjoy your morning coffee in bed! There was an anniversary discount, no solo supplement, as well as former guest discount. So very affordable. I definitely plan to return with my husband so he can see how wonderful the week was right on the water. Easy flights (through London) into Marco Polo airport. After visiting a mask atelier, on my last day, the tour guide arranged for me to have one final special event just for myself. Giacomo met me with his wooden speed boat ( James Bond style in Venice ) and we proceeded to go up and back on the Grand Canal on my solo boat trip, then winding through the smaller canals to deposit me back to La Venetzia. WOW! Worth the 120 euros for sure. During our previous visit to Venice in 2017, we stayed at the Kempinski San Clemente which is an island in the lagoon. Wonderful, but I see the price has indeed increased. Readers may not realize that Venice has decided to eliminate the large cruise ships close to Venice, with many stopping at Trieste ( on the Adriatic) with coaches bringing guests to Venice. Recently, some ships are allowed west across the lagoon to Marghera, a rather industrial port. This is to avoid the continual damage that their wake has been causing the base of the historic buildings. Venice is a treasure that must be preserved.
A reader suggested that your daughter might like to tell us about her recent trip to Antarctica. That would be so interesting, Jennifer.

    1. What an amazing trip you had! Our friend went on Uniworld snd loved it. I canā€™t agree enough about the huge cruise ships around Venice. Thereā€™s something disturbing about the monstrous ones being so close.

  2. Kim Krivis says:

Hi Jennifer. I recognized that J.Crew roll neck sweater right away so that was the tip-off for me. Been a crew gal for many years. Last year I read ā€œThe Kingdom of Prepā€ by Maggie Bullock, or, rather, I listen to it on audible. Itā€™s long, but itā€™s a pretty good read for anyone interested in the rise, fall and re-emergence of J.Crew. So happy, I found your blog. Love it!
    -Kim

    1. Thanks for the tip! Iā€™d love that book and I have an Audible credit just waiting! Iā€™m glad you found us too.

  3. Hi Jennifer. A friend of mine and his wife were on that same trip as your daughter (they would have been one of the retired ones). They loved it! They also did the arctic a few years ago with the same company. I have been considering it myself.
For some reason I am not getting your emails and I have signed up again. I have to look up old emails to get your current post.

    1. It looked like and amazing trip. I checked and added you back. Thanks for letting me know

  4. I was please tp see that the “Tower” spay is available on Amazon because I would like to try it….sadly often the items you show are from places that don’t ship to Canada. I find the comments about the price of the shoes interesting. I have always had to pay considerable more for my shoes because of how shoes fit/don’t fit my feet. I would love to have tough regular width feet….or even wide because often a wide width is available….but nope I need narrow, with accommodation for a high arch and long toes. I can tell by looking at the cheaper shoe here that the toe box is too short while the more expensive shoe has a longer toe box. I would be buying the expensive shoe (if all the other parts of the shoe fit) and saving somewhere else. At least I am not needing to wear heavy orthopaedic Oxfords like I did as a kid (I know they cost my parents TON of money) but that is where I learned to save in other ways

    1. Interesting point about the shoes. Every womanā€™s priorities are so different. Iā€™d go for comfort too.

  5. Cruising to Antarctica is on my bucket list! Maybe your daughter could do a guest post for you? I gifted myself the larger Longchamp crossbody, which I found at Bloomingdale’s, and absolutely love it.

    1. Brilliant idea! I will ask her. I’m a big fan of the Longchamp brand.

  6. Jennifer I had so much fun showing my husband the outfit I liked best which was the save! Who pays over a K for red soled shoes! The Ann Klein loafers were more attractive and affordable. They donā€™t come in wide unfortunately and that would be my choice. Either sweater is good. I prefer the save on everything! Great choices Jennifer. I love hearing about other peopleā€™s travel experiences. I travel vicariously.

    1. People pay insane amounts for things they see value in. One person’s trash is another persons garbage šŸ™‚

  7. The expensive loafers gave it away for me . I like seeing the looks and how to duplicate on a budget . Id NEVER spend $1000 on anything to wear .. when i know i could duplicate and quality for less . Cant see spending just for a brand name .
Do vit c serums help your rosacea . ? They really brighten my aging skin

    1. I haven’t noticed Vit C helping with my rosacea much, but then I use lots of products.

  8. I think the sweater was the give away for me. I actually prefer the save shoes, bag and pants.

We love to travel although that’s been put on hold due to health issues. Our favorite type of cruising was river cruising in Europe.

    1. I’m sorry to hear about your health challenges, Pat. We loved our river boat cruise! Hopefully we can do another one soon.

  9. Rhoda Clark says:

Yep, it was the bag. But I love the comparison. Iā€™m still amazed at the difference in price, yet the looks both are very attractive.

  10. Charlotte says:

I am always trying to find ways to brighten and moisturize my 71 year old skin. I think establishing a routine of using the LOW VISCOCITY CLEANING ESTER, then applying NĆ©cessaire Body Serum and finally the COPPER AMINO ISOLATE SERUM 3 might be a start. What do you think, Jennifer? And what about a product for sun blockage? Thanks for these musings.

    1. The copper isolate goes on first, after cleansing, and the serum is for the body. I love a lot of different sunscreens and agree they are mandatory.

  11. I have Wanderlust so badly that I became a travel agent in 2019! Since then I have helped clients see the world and I have been to some of the places I dreamed of! Antarctica is on my List!

    1. Amazing! What a smart lady you are.

  12. Francesca B says:

How fantastic for your daughter going on such an adventure! I would love to go to the Antarctic and see the wildlife and get a sense of that part of the world. It seems a lot less travelled than Europe ! Love the style post the give away for me was the bag? Have a lovely week Jennifer.

    1. Happy Monday Francesca!

  13. I am not that adventurous either but we have friends who love to cruise. I loved traveling in our RV and we want to do more of that along with golf trips. I love hearing about your skincare products. It’s good to hear from you about what works before we invest in expensive products that might not work. Have a good week.

    1. We loved traveling with our trailer too. It was so cozy and fun. I often miss it but it became more than we could managed because everything was manual.

  14. A year ago we sailed with Celebrity to Antartica, great trip lots of memories, fyi your link to beaded cuff goes to a beaded earring cuff.

    1. It sounds like a great adventure.

  15. The BR pants are well tailored, but in this case, the Gap pants are far more sustainably made. I’d love to try on the Gap pants b/c they look high-rise in the photo, but the description is mid-rise (under 10 inches). Extra-long sweater sleeves is a trend I’m going to pass up, especially on a light-colored sweater.

  16. Good morning, Jennifer. I always appreciate your posts about skincare and new products. It would help me to know how and when you use these products. Morning and night? Before other products? After other products? That is always my question about trying new products-when do I use them to get the most benefit. Thank you and have a fun and safe trip.

    1. Oops! That would have been helpful to include. I use the copper peptide after my essence has dried and before my moisturizer in the evening. C I spray the sos on my face all throughout the day, but mostly at night to be sure itā€™s really clean. The body serum is for just out of the shower.

      1. In a previous post about dry eyes, you were going to try the heated eye wand. Iā€™m wondering if you liked it or prefer the eye mask that is heated in the microwave?

      2. I prefer the heated eye mask. It seems to work better and I can just relax and lay doing nothing while it works.

  17. Yes , I am interested in Antartica. Can you please tell me which company or cruise line your daughter chose and if the outerwear was furnished.

Thank you, love your work and lifeā€™s passion.

    1. Yes! She went on Quark and they supplied the jacket to keep and boots to borrow. She said it was amazingly luxurious aboard ship and beautifully organized.

  18. Love your Monday posts with a bit of this and that. I am always looking for interesting products to help with my roseacea as well. I have been adding azelaic acid for the past 2 months and barrier relief from Sensilis that I discoverd in Portugal. I bought pretty much the whole sensitive system, but that Tower 28 looks interesting.
That cruise that Vanessa took is one that my husband would like to try, but I am not sure about the cold. Alaska was enough for me. She looks so happy in the picture, did she do the whole south america as well.
The spend or save…. I actually preferred the save one. I am looking for more of the shorter length sweaters, not cropped, just at the waist or bit longer.
Oh, was wondering, when a person from Canada is switched to the Canadian site after going through your links, do you still get credit for that purchase?
    Great info again Jennifer, thanks

    1. I haven’t heard of that Sensilis line…Googling it now. Azelaic acid in miraculous for my rosacea too. I use the RX strength. She did not so South America. I’m going to see if I can get her to write about her trip. I don’t think thnose links work, but to me honest, I do not know. Thanks for asking.

  19. Regarding the age of travelers, my DH and I are in our mid/late 70s. Weā€™re trying to do at least 2 trips (usually cruising) a year. We sailed around the world (southern route) last yearā€¦128 days. It just whetted our appetite for more. Alaska for 28 days in June, river cruise in 2025 with a visit to my sister in Denmark, as well as possibly Antarctica that year as well. More Australia and Africa are in the works as well. Why did we wait so long? Got involved in local politics in our small townā€¦.preserving our historic district couldnā€™t wait. But now, we are seeing the world and making memories. Cruising is reat for seniorsā€¦.unpack once, your food comes to you, laundry taken care of. You can be as adventurous as you like on shore excursions.

    1. Your trips sound amazing. I love your attitude and could not agree more. Cruising is my favorite way to travel. We like small ships over the huge ones. Iā€™d love to do another riverboat cruise this year.

    2. Jneil Nelson says:

We are in our mid 70’s and did an amazing Antarctica trip with Viking. Highly recommend. And we also did the Patagonia post trip. Amazing!

      1. Wow! I had no idea that Viking did that sort of cruise. Those do sound amazing!

  20. I always look forward to your favs posts! More goodies to to try!
How wonderful that your daughter is so adventurous! I’m not, but I enjoy hearing about the travels of others.

I appreciate neutrals on those who can wear them but stronger, brighter colours suit me best. The outfits attached do look look elegant.

    1. Her trip looked amazing!! Happy Monday Janet

  21. The bag was the giveaway this time and usually is. Either that or the shoes. Thanks Jennifer !
