Monday Musings: Spring Outfit Inspiration

Mexico is a fond memory, and it has me itching to wear spring clothes. I got so used to seeing brighter colors and fun shapes that my mind is already thinking of ways I can incorporate more of it into my wardrobe for spring. Let’s look at some spring outfit inspiration.

Spring Outfit Inspiration

CLASSIC JEAN JACKET / DENIM TOP / PERFECT CROPS / PLAID SNEAKERS /
LEATHER BUCKET BAG / EARRINGS / BRACELET

Sometimes, all it takes is a vibrant pop of color in one item to brighten an outfit like this cheery jean jacket from Talbots. I think the plaid sneakers are especially fun.

STRIPED SHIRT / RELAXED CUFFED DENIM / METALLIC LOAFERS / BRAIDED METALLIC BELT /
RATTAN BAG / HOOP EARRINGS / INITIAL NECKLACE

Stripes are classic any time of the year but feel especially fresh in the spring. Here, I’ve paired a classic striped shirt with trending metallic accessories and relaxed cuffed jeans…all from Talbots.

GREEN BLOUSE / WIDE LEG JEANS / WOVEN LEATHER BELT / WEDGE SANDALS /
SQUARE SUNGLASSES / EARRINGS / BRACELET

Wide-leg jeans continue to be popular for spring and this fresh green color is everywhere. I love the lighter look of woven leather for spring and summer.

Save or Splurge

Blazers are a favorite way for me to zhush up an outfit so today, let’s compare two outfits with varying price points using a linen blazer.

LINEN BLAZER / STRIPED TEE / CROP PANTS / WEDGE SANDALS / SLOUCHY BAG /
GOLD HOOPS / PEARL NECKLACE

This look starts with a neutral linen blazer and simple crop pants paired with a classic stripe tee and comfy wedges. A single strand of pearls adds a bit of polish along with the gold hoops and a pale, slouchy bag.

GOLD HOOPS / PEARL NECKLACE

The save comes in around $182.00 and the splurge outfit is closer to $740.00. Could you spot the splurge and what tipped you off?

What are you looking forward to wearing this spring?

  1. Fooled me too. At first glance I assumed the embellished tote was a pricey Brighton brand. I love Banana Republic ribbed T’s and own several: long sleeves, short sleeve, elbow length (which is great for hiding my 63 year old upper arms) love the fun yet classic b&w stripe version you posted.

  2. I do appreciate your humor, you made me laugh with your first sentence! I am happy you enjoyed your vacation. Great post, love the clothes.

  3. I was fooled this time by the blazers! Not something I wear often. I’m looking forward to wearing capris and sandals!

  4. Fooled me on the shoes and blazer. I like the save look overall. I hope you are refreshed from your trip to Mexico. I’m still looking at melting snow! The mountains are beautiful but I am ready for spring and green.

    1. It feels like spring arrived here while we were gone so I’m happy. I love looking at snow on mountains anytime, but I understand your desire for green too!

  5. The type of breast pocket on the ‘high end’ blazer was the give away to me which is often seen in men’s wear. With appreciation of your ‘inspirations’ and HAPPY MONDAY! -Brenda-

    1. Happy Monday, Brenda. Tailoring is often the give away for me.

  6. I was totally fooled today. Liked the save blazer and tote.
I am thinking spring today as the Seattle area has had a string of 70plus days. I am wearing yellow denim with a navy cotton sweater and the metallic Vionic loafers you featured a few weeks ago. The rain will be back so no white pants for the mud puddles!

    1. I have my eye on sunny yellow for spring too. Hoping to find a version that’s flattering on me.

You fooled me! I thought the Old Navy blazer looked more expensive. The whole outfit on the Old Navy website was quite reasonable. I don’t need it, but if I was still working I would definitely try it on. Have a good week!

      1. Love Splurge or Save! It is my favorite part of your blog, and no one else has it!!

      2. I’m so glad you like it too!

Glad you had a wonderful visit with family. I feel your pain regarding laundry.

It was easy to see which was the “save” by the slouchy bag. It’s the same Amazon bag that usually appears in the “save” look, just a different color. I also thought the blazer in the “splurge” looked like it hung better, and the color trim on the t-shirt looked more finished. Either way, good looks!

  9. Fooled me this time for sure. I really like the “save” better than the “splurge”. Purse, shoes and jacket were what threw me.

  10. Hahaha! I got it wrong too. I thought the blazer and shoes looked more expensive.🤷🏼‍♀️

    1. They’re great looking!

Already have a couple of the tops shown for my wardrobe for spring and summer. I’ve always loved bright colors and my closet is full of them. The times I see you in them on your DRD you always look great in them. I say go for it 😊
You got me today on the splurge and save. The handbag is usually the giveaway. Must say I like the save look better. I so enjoy these. Just goes to show you can look stylish and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

  12. I guessed wrong! And I like the “save” best — especially the double-breasted blazer.

  13. Hard to tell the difference. I thought the lower priced shoes & purse were actually the higher end outfit. Probably only tell tale sign was the pearls with the little chain as opposed to the toggle type. Very cute!

You fooled me this time. The bag and blazer hooked me for more expensive. I do like the inexpensive more on this outfit.

  15. I LOVE the tote bag pictured on the email before going to your post! Do you mind sharing where you got it?
    Thank-you!
    Trish

  16. Glad you had a such a wonderful trip. Well I guessed wrong on which outfit was more expensive……no logo’s showing to give it away :)…….

I always tell myself it’s better to have the laundry issue or what ever than not, when doing something around the house that I’d rather not be doing.
