Nordstrom Spring Finds: Stylish New Arrivals I’m Wearing This Season

Spring is right around the corner for most of us, and I’ve been shopping the new Nordstrom spring finds to update my wardrobe. Nordstrom is always my first stop, so I’m delighted to partner with them again today to share some of my favorite pieces for the season.
I started with lightweight dresses because when it’s blistering hot, nothing feels easier to wear. And if you have an event coming up, I have a try-on in the works with some especially pretty occasion dresses, so stay tuned for that.
This 100% Pima cotton dress was a surprise. I’d been seeing smocking on a lot of dresses this spring and wasn’t sure it was for me, but the navy-and-white stripe keeps it from looking too sweet. It fits nicely through the torso, has side pockets which I always appreciate, and the maxi length solves the whole “what do I wear on my legs?” question while still allowing plenty of airflow to keep you cool.
I’m wearing it with my favorite Clare V. Raffia Bag with the bamboo handle. It holds more than I expected, and I get comments on it every time I carry it. This year, it also comes in black, plum, and blush.
I’m wearing it with these ultra-comfortable, low-wedge sandals, you’ve seen me wear a lot. I debated between the white and this bright shade, but after two weeks, I realized this color goes with everything because it matches my hair.
Style tip: Wearing shoes in a tone close to your hair color helps move the eye through the outfit without stopping hard at your feet. And let’s be honest, keeping the attention up near the face isn’t a bad strategy.
I added this Scallop Edge Crop jacket for a little arm coverage in those overly air-conditioned stores and restaurants. This little jacket would also be fun over a simple tee and chinos or jeans. It also comes in a papaya shade, and I found it runs a bit large.
I bought this Theory midi dress for my trip to Singapore this summer. It’s a linen-viscose blend with stretch, so it should stay cool, resist wrinkling, and let me enjoy the local cuisine without feeling squeezed.
It’s described as a button-front dress, but the placket is faux, so you get that look without any pulling or gaping. It zips under the arm, and the princess seams give it shape through the torso before the skirt releases nicely. There’s also a small front slit for movement.
I topped it with this Splendid Camellia Openwork cardigan, which is on sale in their Spring Savings Event! Open weave is still showing up everywhere this spring, from shoes and bags to sweaters and knits. This cardigan is a great way to wear the trend in the hot weather. The 100% cotton feels very cool but gives arm coverage where you want it. This comes in five easy colors. I’m wearing fawn.
I love a great pair of pull-on jeans, and these Nic+Zoe jeans are smooth through the waist and easy through the leg. They’re a nice deep wash with front and back darts, which helps them contour to your shape. I love the back pockets and that the waistband is totally flat with no gathers in sight! I’m wearing a regular, and they’re also available in petite.
On top, I’m wearing the Sanctuary Puckered Lace T-Shirt (plus size here, in blue or black). I’m wearing a petite, but I’d prefer the regular length for my long torso. The puckered texture gives it a little more interest than a standard white tee. I also added this fun Bauble Bar Joan necklace. It comes in five pretty colors, so you could stack them for a bolder look.
I topped the white tee with this blue tweed, Nic+Zoe Knit Bomber Jacket. I love the way Nic+Zoe does stretch tweed jackets with a modern vibe. It fits and feels more like a cardigan, but with a bit more structure. The fringe and tweed give it that subtle Chanel-inspired feel.
I wore this same jacket and necklace to dinner for our 48th anniversary and swapped the jeans for these Rag & Bone Irena Wide Leg Crop Pants, which hit at ankle length on my 5’4″ frame. I debated shortening them, but I ended up liking the slightly longer length. They have a side zipper, a flat waistband, and just enough stretch to be super comfortable.
Here are the same wide-leg crop pants with the open-weave cardigan and coordinating striped tank for a casual dinner at the club. I’ve worn these pants more times than I can count since I bought them, which usually tells me I made a good decision. I’m wearing navy, and they also come in black.
I’ve mixed and matched a few of these spring separates here, but there are plenty of other ways to wear them. That’s always what I’m looking for this time of year: pieces that work together easily and don’t need a lot of thought. And as you can see, these sandals go with just about everything.

I’m going to look for more pull on linen or linen blend wide leg or full straight leg pants. I want them to my arch on my foot which is usually crops. I also want shorter tees without showing my muffin. I am 5’1” tall. I love the first dress. It looks so light and airy. It looks great on you.

I will be attending a “black tie” wedding this September in Vancouver, and I have nothing suitable, so will be shopping. The weather will likely be warm, so I need something light weight but with good skin coverage, and “spare tire” camouflage!

I love how you mixed and matched things! Nordstrom is always a great choice. Clothes this year seem so different to me I’m still trying to find jeans that look current but aren’t too wide.

Cute! Look forward to the Occasion Dress try on! Have a spring semi formal event and a wedding in May and going crazy trying to find something! Doesn’t help that here on the Atlantic coast in NJ, our weather in April and May can remain chilly and wintry–or we can have instant summer. One never knows!

I like all of your outfits/dresses. I do think wearing nicely tailored items does help the outfit as we age. When our body looses some of our shape the tailoring helps pick up the slack we can’t control no matter how hard we try.

Good Morning Jennifer: I got butterflies in my stomach when I read the “Nordstrom try on” title. My favorite store. I wish I had better luck with Nic+Zoe. Just have a hard time getting a flattering fit for me. But they have such great clothes. Big take-away for me: I’m so glad to see that Baublebar necklace on someone besides the models. I’ve been on the fence about purchasing. Anyway, fun stuff. Love the two dresses. Looks like I need to schedule a trip to Nordstrom.
