Dressing Room Diaries: Summer Cotton
Happy Friday ladies! Our last discussion was amazing. I want to thank each of you for sharing your thoughts. Clearly, many of usĀ have encountered passive aggressive comments about the effort we make with our appearance and many of you have fantastic retorts.
Today’s dressing room diaries held a surprise. The store seemed understocked so there was little for me to choose from. When I went online to find the links for you I discovered tons more great pieces that weren’t in the store plus everything is on sale 30% off online only with the codeĀ SHOPSUMMER at checkout! I started with 
It’s a navy and ivory cotton wrap skirt that will be cool on warm days. I see it with a simple white tee and flat sandals or dressed up for a summer party. This one is 3 sizes too small for me and doesn’t wrap as far as it should so I have swung it sideways.
Next, I tried on 
It’s fully lined so no slip necessary. It has a V neckline front and back which is very flattering. I am not a print person but this one is fresh feeling and perfect for summer. I’m standing on my tip toes because it’s too long for me.#petiteissues

These are literally a long Tee shirt with a front patch pocket. This dress has to be the easiest thing to wear on a hot summer day. The accessories you put with this will make all the difference. Dress it up or leave it unadorned for super easy lounging around.
Then I shifted gear and tried on these shorts.Ā
I haven’t worn shorts in 30+ years so this was a real departure for me. These are the 7″ inseam Stretch Chino Shorts. I was surprised at how comfy they were. They come in 8 colors, these are navy. I paired them with this linenĀ Tie- Front Linen Shirt.Ā I love everything about this shirt. The tailored shape and crisp stripes dial down the girliness of the pink. It’s available in petite (which I need) and also tall.

Here are the same shorts in white with the 
This is the Slim Perfect Fit TeeĀ in navy and ivory. It’s a great basic in a super soft fabric. It is longer than this so I simply folded the bottom few inches under and they stay put. I’m wearing it with their 9″ high rise toothpick jean in the classic rinse. They have a nice slim leg and lots of stretch. These come in petite and regular.
I could not resist
They’re an ivory and black polka dot in pure cotton. Super cute and decent enough to be seen in. Since I have never met a polka dot I didn’t love, these came home with me:) then got ordered at 30% off.
We are excited to be heading north in our RV today. We haven’t had an adventure since January and are anxious to get away. I’ll keep you posted on our progress and share our travels.

I think the tie-front linen shirt and white shorts would be a nice look for your new, relaxed lifestyle. Why not? They’d fit in nicely with other items you own as kready.

I love cotton PJ’s! They are so essential during the hot weather. You should wear shorts, they look good on you! Be comfy and as pretty as always! Enjoy your get away!

Thanks Lynn. Iām still recovering from that orange self tanner debacle but I did like these shorts a lot;) I may need to rethink wearing shorts.

I love your dressing room diaries feature. Since I live 80 miles north Roseville and any kind of decent shopping, I rely on you to point me in the right direction. I shop almost exclusively online. It’s so easy to order and return if I don’t like the item.
I prefer shopping online too! The selection is much larger and returns are easy.
The slim striped tee and jeans is so flattering on you! And the pajamas–I need to head over to J. Crew to buy a pair. I like the shorts with the tied shirt, as a collared shirt (vs. a tee), dresses the look up a bit.
I think thatās why I liked the shorts, because the collared shirt takes them up a notch.
The slim fitting pants and slim fitting tee are super cute on you and make you look thin as a rail. Have fun on your weekend getaway.
