Weekend Reading 03.01.25

And just like that, it’s March! It was 70 degrees here yesterday, which sure feels like spring to me. I’ve already moved some of my boots to the top shelf and am preparing most of my sweaters for storage.

Expressing your personal style and maximalism is alive and thriving for 2025. I’m not sure how far I will dip my toes into it, but I did wear a stack of three necklaces yesterday, which worked for me because I skipped the earrings 😉

The gray pearl strand is a souvenir from a trip to Hawaii over 25 years ago. The large silver link necklace is from an art show last summer, and I bought the single pearl on a chain last week. It’s from a small brand founded by twin sisters Lizzie and Kathryn Fortunato, who create unique jewelry that’s made by skilled artisans in New York.

  1. Just a hint for putting in eye drops that I have discovered that works for me… I have a bathroom mirror attached to my wall with an extending arm and it also tilts. I pull it out and tip it up so that I barely see my eyes. This makes me tilt my head back and look “down” to see in the mirror. I then pull my top lid up with my pointer finger and my bottom lid down with my middle finger. I can then put the drops into the top part of my eye, instead of dropping them smack down in the middle, making me blink. I hope this helps and makes sense.

    1. That does make sense, and thanks. It would get much better coverage that way.

  2. Love the stacked necklaces look! Very pretty.

  3. No fair 70º F, as where I am the snow is knee deep with more expected in the following weeks. ☺ Do love the way you stacked the necklaces and understand a new trend is to do it with belts as well, which I personally will pass on as not an area I want to attract attention to. -Brenda-

    1. Stacking belts should be interesting 🙂

  4. I love your large silver link necklace . Keeping my eyes open for one. Great idea to stack all three necklaces the way you did . Love love !

    1. Thanks Colette. I love it!

  5. I love all the blues you’ve been wearing like the ones on your cover page today. I often take photos of your outfits to remind myself how I can dress up my style. I especially like the photos on What I Wore This Week. Thanks for the great ideas.

    1. Have a great weekend!

  6. There is an over the counter equivalent to Miebo called EvoTears available in many foreign countries for about $50. I ordered some from Spain and it was the exact same thing as Miebo. You might look into that. My opthamolgist told me about it!

    1. Thank you! I couldn’t find it from Spain but I just ordered it from Germany. Fingers crossed it helps!

  7. Prepared to be wrong here, but I thought you were not supposed to wear or store metal necklaces near pearls because the pearls could get scratched…. I wouldn’t worry about costume pearls, but yours sound like good ones.

    1. You are correct Nancy, and I worried about it but the chain is very soft so I assumed it would be okay for one wearing. I also like to layer pearls together, which you probably shouldn’t do.

  8. Kathy Gaffney says:

Can someone else put them in? If you pull down your lower lid, plenty of space to place a drop, although at that price, I’d be very nervous! Good luck!

    1. I finally did it the way you suggested

  9. I tried the Miebo drops and they didn’t work for me unfortunately. But they are available over the counter and much much cheaper outside of the US by other names. I ordered Evo Tears from Spain. You might try googling that. If they work for you, you are lucky. I have been battling dry eyes for years and have not found anything to help. I wish you luck

  10. Miebo is very expensive, mine actually cost more than yours with insurance and I was hoping for a big difference but did not have any luck. I hope you find some relief I know how frustrating dry eyes are.

It is nice to have Spring in the air and pretty colors in the stores.

    1. Ugh. I was so hopeful. I’m going to try them again and be more careful this time.
