Weekend Reading: 04.11.26
Happy Saturday, ladies. My week has been up and down, including a fender bender (my fault) and a mild stomach bug that knocked me off my feet for a few days…and yes…I also got my hair chopped.

It’s been getting so thin with my latest thyroid medication adjustment that even the oral minoxidil couldn’t stop this Telogen Effluvium shed, which is basically caused by stress. PS – Dropping your thyroid medication dose in half (under doctor orders) is stressful to your system.
Reader favorites this week – what you loved:
- This machine-washable Provence Toile Delft Blue Rug, which I found on sale, was a huge bestseller last week. I wish I had more floors in our home.
- My favorite Silver Sneakers were also best sellers this week, and I think you will love them! They are incredibly comfortable and cute enough to wear with skirts and dresses this summer.
- Readers loved this J.Crew Factory scalloped-edge tee. It comes in 3 colors and has a nice loose fit.
- Many readers took advantage of the Jenny Bird sale and bought my Florence Earrings (which are still marked down until April 12).
- And finally, this little Raffia Bag with a bamboo handle was a sleeper that ladies loved and ordered. It comes in navy or natural color.
Picks for the weekend sales:
NORDSTROM has a 10x points event, which is a great time to shop. Those points add up fast, and I love to use mine for later purchases.
- My Rag & Bone Miramar Trucker Jacket is marked down! I’m not sure if they are price-matching, but it’s on sale.
- My AG Brinley jeans are also marked down. These fit beautifully with a classic straight leg that’s neither baggy nor clingy. Just perfectly straight.
- I have this simple tank, and it’s a perfect layering piece.
CHICO’S has $50 off $200 or $30 off $150, plus buy one get one 50% off Jewelry.
- I love this long linen vest to wear over a simple white tee.
- This bamboo bucket bag is flat-out adorable! I predict this one will sell out fast.
- These wide-leg linen pants look right up my alley and would probably be full-length on me, which I prefer these days.
EILEEN FISHER always has a fabulous sale section, and they now have an extra 20% off. I stopped in yesterday and snagged these washable silk pants. I actually plan to dress them down with a simple white tee and white sneakers…stay tuned:) I have these pants, and I adore them. I also have these in two colors and love them. Clearly, I’m a huge fan of EF.
TALBOTS has 40% off tops and 30% off everything else!
In case you missed it:
Have a fabulous Saturday, and be sure to wear something that makes you feel confident.

I look forward to all your posts-those about fashion and those about life. Thank you for being a bright spot in my day!
Just a comment about thyroid meds. Unfortunately, most doctors base your dose on your TSH reading – which actually has nothing to do with how much/little thyroid hormone is in your body. For 25 years I was on Synthroid and developed many issues from only taking T4. Switching to naturally dessicated thyroid hormone cleared that up. Lve your new hairstyle; flattering, disguises thinning & easy upkeep. Also loved a lot of the items you mentioned.
I really like your hair. Mine has gotten so fine I just had it cut yesterday and that does make it feel thicker. I gave up trying to let it grow. After chemo it’s not been the same but I’m grateful that at least it grew back. Medications can really be hard on your hair.
It really does help
I take generic Rogaine in pill form. I take 1/2 of a 2.5 milligram. I get it from my Dermatologist. In three months my hair is growing thicker by the month. They told me I could grow hair in places I didn’t want but I haven’t noticed any difference. I’m very happy with the results.
I do too Connie and I’m so glad it’s working for you. It’s actually called oral minoxidil which is the active ingredient in Rogaine. I’ve been on it for several years and it’s been a miracle but sadly it won’t stop stress shedding like this.
Love love your new hairstyle! You look amazing🤗🤗🤗
You’re so sweet, thanks Dianne. It’s really growing on me, pardon the pun 🤣
I love your hair that length and I bet you could go even shorter! Embrace the new you!
I was thinking of going shorter but chickened out.
I have a question about using ‘Plexiderm’ like products. I look in the mirror, and I am so frustrated by the bags under my eyes that seem to be my newest feature!!! Do you have experience or recommendations for using this type of product? And our hair is very similar in texture, thinning, and cut. I love your new length… I just had an inch taken off yesterday… tbd if it helps with the suggestion of volume! hahaha
I haven’t used Plexidern. I’ve read that it’s made of clay particles so you just want to apply a little bit of it can make the area look dry and worse. People do like it.
Hi Jennifer, I know how stressful hair loss can be. I also have a thyroid condition and went through a particularly stressful period awhile back and was losing a tremendous amount of hair. My hair was everywhere (except on my head). I started Nutrafol vitamins about 4 months ago and have had good luck with it this time. I know you’re aware of this product and just wanted to mention. I hope everything stabilizes soon. Take care.
Thank you!
Your haircut looks great! I like it a lot. But…thyroid dose adjustments, especially that huge(!) are a lot! So sorry you are going through this. Time will help…even though I am usually very impatient about it. Friends who have been on the same dose for decades — I just don’t understand! My dose is frequently needing (small) adjustment and I have tried many different medications over the years. For many years now I have been much better served by desiccated hormone, and now that is under assault by the new FDA. It is a journey! I hear you!
Oh no Kim! I knew it was a radical dose change but she thought it would be fine. She was wrong. Doctors do make mistakes.
Great options! I am curious, I am on thyroid medication as well, and I don’t understand such a big drop in thyroid medication. That makes me nervous, I don’t like my thyroid medication messed with, that’s my energy!
It was awful. I will never change my dose so radically again no matter what a Dr suggests.
Second opinion with an endocrinologist. That is too much. Was your Thyroid Panel extremely off the charts for her to do that? What is she saying about your sudden hair loss and I bet fatigue as well? Go into your doctor’s portal and check your lab results that she is basing this extreme change. These are suggestions but I wouldn’t make a change like that without proof that it was necessary. Second opinion. Strong suggestion even if you really like your doctor, this doesn’t sound right and you need her prescription to take the medication.
There were some extenuating reasons for her to do this but it was too extreme of a change and I didn’t know better than to call her on it. I do now and will be discussing with her soon. Thanks Sydney
Love your new haircut! Is it all one length in the back? Layers? My hair is similar to yours, and I have an appointment this week. Looking for fresh ideas.
Thanks! Hope you feel better soon.
All one length. I have some old layers to grow out but we cut most of them off and I’m letting the front get a bit longer.
