Beauty Products To Help Balance & Restore Well-being

My nighttime rituals seem to get longer each month. The positive to that is it gives me more time to relax and a better chance of getting a good night’s sleep. Here are a few beauty products I rely on to help balance and restore my well-being.

A big thank you to Nordstrom and ShopStyle Collective for sponsoring this post.

NEOM

I’ve struggled with restless legs for many years and if you’ve ever dealt with them, you know how annoying it is. I discovered magnesium helps a lot, so in addition to taking a magnesium supplement at night, I find a topical is very helpful.

NEOM BEDTIME HERO

There are lots of options on the market but I’ve found many feel grainy on the skin so I’m thrilled to find Nordstrom carries my favorite…this Neom Magnesium Body Butter. In fact, I’m just finishing my third tube. It’s scented with 11 essential oils, packed with shea butter, grapeseed oil, and coconut oil to nourish and soften the skin plus contains 88mg of magnesium for every 5ml of product.

I climb into bed and rub a healthy-sized squeeze on both legs from my knees to the tips of my toes. It smells heavenly and my legs never seem to get that jumpy feeling.

DIFFUSING NEOM CALM & RELAX ESSENTIAL OIL BLEND

Diffusing essential oils not only smells amazing but also creates a sense of calm in my crazy, busy day. I diffuse this Calm & Relax blend in the family room which is made from Rose and Neroli essential oils that are well known to soothe the nerves. It also makes the whole house smell amazing. Neom makes a whole collection of organic, 100% natural fragrances and products to enhance and uplift your well-being. Nordstrom carries many more here.

NƉCESSAIRE

I haven’t used soap in my shower for as long as I can remember. I prefer to use products that create a spa-like experience with natural ingredients that are not only good for my skin but my senses.

NƉCESSAIRE THE BODY OILĀ  /Ā  NƉCESSAIRE THE BODY EXFOLIATOR

This NĆ©cessaire The Body Exfoliator has a fragrance that transports me to a fabulous spa! It does come in 2 other scents or an unscented version, but this eucalyptus is irresistible. This is formulated with an AHA/BHA trio of glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acids that help remove dead skin cells, while pumice and bamboo charcoal soften skin. It’s gentle enough that I use it several times a week and it makes my skin super smooth.

I always slather on lotion right out of the shower to seal moisture in, but decided to give this Body Oil a try and love it! My skin seems to drink it right in without leaving a greasy feel and I’m left feeling soft and hydrated.

Patchology

Have you embraced the ease of patches? These Flashpatch Rejuvenating Eye Gels feel amazingly cool and are very relaxing.

EYE PATCHES to help well-being
FLASHPATCH REJUVENATING EYE GELS

They’re silicone patches, drenched in hydrolyzed collagen, other hydrating ingredients plus caffeine to bring down puffiness. This box comes with 5 sets of parches. I applied as the package shows but they didn’t cover the puffiest part of my under eyes and kept slipping, so I flipped them backward (also drenched with the product) and they held like a charm.

I’m pretty certain there is no right or wrong direction to apply these, as long as they stay put and allow the product to soak in. After you peel them off, just rub the remaining moisture into the undereye area. They feel cool and soothing and definitely tell my body it’s time to relax and recharge. You can also get these patches in a jar of 30 here.

poshpeel kit ingredients
POSHPEEL PEDI CURE KIT

My tootsies took a beating on the sand during my trip to Mexico last week so I picked up this PoshPeel kit to help get them back into shape. Since I always do my own pedicures, I knew I needed some strong stuff to smooth the skin out.Ā

The package includes one pair of ‘socks’, and 1 pack of activating essence which contains an advanced AHA plus BHA blend with glycolic, salicylic, and citric acids that progressively dissolve the dead skin on your feet. The salesperson let me know this is a serious treatment and to expect intensive peeling in approximately 3-5 days, then super smooth feet so I am very excited.

MORE PATCHOLOGY

I’m happy to share that there’s now a recycling program called Nordstrom Beauty Cycle. Now I can buy cruelty-free beauty products in sustainable packaging, then take my bottle and empty containers back to be recycled for eventual reuse. They have collection bins in the beauty department at your local Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack.

NordstromĀ is my favorite department store for so many reasons, not the least of which is their incredible customer service with free shipping and returns…always! I highly recommend joining the Nordy club here (it’s free) which allows you to earn points towards notes you can use to shop, plus you get free basic alterations. They also offer BOPUS, ROTUS (reserve online, try on in-store), and curbside pickup.

What beauty products do you use to balance and restore your well-being?

Thanks for reading ladies and take care of yourself.

  1. Hi Jenifer, My mom and her friend swore by placing a bar of soap at the end of the bed, beneath the sheet to alleviate the symptoms of restless leg. The soap cannot be Dove; not sure why. I used a bar of Dial and it worked for me.

  2. Jane Wilkins says:

My restless leg fix is topical magnesium gel as well as taking magnesium citrate supplements as they are more absorbable than straight magnesium

  3. Do appreciate you sharing your routine as well as products used. For myself first off, I am fragrance sensitive so avoid the latter that might contain such but will definitely consider yours as always open to suggestions. As to my current regime; favourites of mine as a body moisturizer (exception for my face and feet) is non-fragrant hydrating Aveeno. Whereas never use soap on my face as prefer makeup cleanser and moisturizing wipes that contain aloe vera (no particular brand) and twice a day (morning and bedtime) use NIA 114 Contour Restore Tightening and Sculpting Face Cream. As to my feet depended upon their dryness at night time only and though are fragrant; use either coconut cream or vick’s vapour rub (of all things, but it works). Also shall mention; prior to bathing do dry brush and use gel products not bar. Last but not least; fortunately don’t experience restless legs but do have the occasional foot or leg cramps. which a Tbsp. or two of pickle juice will quickly rectify. (Odd I know …. lol!) -Brenda-

  4. I am also the owner of very dry skin and restless legs. I’ve taken magnesium for a long time to help with the legs but still get the odd outbreak of the twitches. For dry skin on my legs arms and body I use a range of Aveeno products which are fairly inexpensive. However on my face I have to be a bit careful and use Origins original skin serum and original skin matte moisturizer. If very dry I use organic rosehip oil on my face and backs of my hands at bedtime. You could also use food grade coconut oil as I found that very good leaving my skin very soft the next day. Origins No Puffery is great for under the eyes and goes on easily as there is a little roller ball at the end of the tube.

  5. I guess my evening regiment is pretty routine.
After showering, I use Aveeno for very dry skin. Only cream that I do not itch uncontrollably.
I use Vaseline gel for my eyes and Olay Regenrist Retinol24 night moisturizer cream. So far so good. Oh! Yes and hand cream. (Aqua-fore). Any cream with sent in it is great except I will itch all night. But this regiment works pretty well.

    1. That Olay is a cult classic many women swear by. It has great reviews

  6. I love this article. Thank you for sharing all these tips. My favorite skincare line is Blue Water Beauty, which is an organic brand. After starting the morning and evening routine, I’ve noticed a definite difference in the texture (and glow) of my skin.

    1. Thank you for sharing Blue Water. It’s new to me. I will check them out!

  7. I’ve had great success using a product called ‘Theraworx’ that is a magnesium foam that I apply to my herky-jerky leg muscles. It comes in a 7 oz can and costs about $10; smells kinda like pears. EZ to apply & dries quickly. Also I kinda think any facial wrinkle cream or lotion shouldn’t cost so much — is it only me who thinks anything over $50 might be too expensive? Am I outa touch with reality here? I feel my plain basic CeraVe that was recommended to me by my dermatologist works great! But the bottom line is use what works for you!

    1. Sue Henry says:

Todays post was a eye opener for sure! I too love Nordstroms but living in the interior of BC , Canada it is online only. I swear by CeraVe top to bottom every day after my shower. But thankfully I do not have restless legs.

Would you please do a post on attending a wedding with the dress being summer chique for ladies over 65ā€¦. Very little to chose from in this area so it will be online from Nordstroms Calgary or Vancouver. Or can you recommend a service the store might provide. I am just starting to look, wedding in August. Thank you Jennifer. Sue

      1. Nordstrom does have personal shopping services you might try. I would call your closest one and see what they can off you. I will also have a look around for you.

  8. Which magnesium supplement do you take? Magnesium is essential for calcium to be effective, but so many calcium vitamins don’t include magnesium.

    Thanks.
    Linda J

    1. I just take one 200mg magnesium capsule at night to help settle my legs. Any brand thatā€™s at my pharmacy

  9. Magnesium is a good ideaā€¦Iā€™ll check with my Neurologist first for any interactions since B Vitamins are a Nono.
Iā€™d love a spa day with you Jennifer to try every product!
Foot spa looks amazing. I too donā€™t do regular pedicuresā€¦I use Miracle foot repair by Kerasal. It has kept me from cracked heels and toes for years!

    1. Thanks for the recommendation!

  10. I have ordered the eye get patches. The morning bags under my eyes are my biggest facial complaint – although that can change from day to day! Thanks for the recommendation.

    1. Theyā€™re so cooling! Try flipping upside down if they slide on you too

  11. I am relieved to hear everyoneā€™s bedtime preparations are taking longer! I, too, have issues with restless legs. A budget friendly aid is epsom salt baths. Another reader mentioned Dr. Tealā€™s products. In addition to the regular epsom salt solution, they offer soaking solutions with essential oils and also a foot soak. Worth looking into as the price of products can really add up.

    1. Epsoms salts are fabulous because they break down into magnesium and
      Sulphate in the water.

      1. I find I sleep much better after a long soak in their Epson Salts. When I go to bed and can’t sleep, I just get up and take a bath and fall right to sleep. I have trouble falling asleep at night too many times to count. Thanks for sharing what works for you.

  12. Great information, but I find this all somewhat overwhelming! Am I the only one who wonders, how much is too much, and how much does all this cost? I didn’t price out what you’ve recommended, but I imagine it’s a lot. I use either Gold Bond or Burt’s Bees foot cream for my feet, and they work a charm. The Gold Bond is great for skin, and there are different mixtures depending on your need. I will purchase a couple of your recommendations, though. I just LOVE that Nordstrom has a recycling program, but as there is no store near me, I wonder whether they will accept mail — will have to find out.

    1. It does seem like my routine gets longer by the month šŸ™‚

  13. This is so timely for me. I have restless legs too and have been taking a magnesium supplement along with a Valerian. It’s helped tremendously. I’ve been using Pixi eye patches. Not sure how much it shows but does feel good. I will certainly look into the oil. Thanks for all the great info.

    1. Valerian is wonderful. Iā€™ve been taking it for years!

  14. I have to chuckle sometimes about how extensive my daily heath care routines have exploded! I also take a magnesium supplement to aid in leg comfort. I have used a topical lotion and it all does help.
I thought that I was the only woman who doesnā€™t get pedicures and actually have never had a professional manicure either. I use a foot bath and tons of lotions and creams on my feet. I am interested in trying the body oil and would consider adding a few drops to my lotion. I use so much lotion that I tend to buy the less expensive brands. I love the Dr. Teal line of products. I also just purchased Jergens Cloud CrĆØme lotion and really like how it hydrates without leaving a heavy feeling. Sometimes, after covering my entire body with lotion, I will feel the need to shower again! Lol

    1. I hear you! I use so many lotions itā€™s funny. Iā€™ve heard great things about Dr Teal. I will have to order some and am delighted to see they are cruelty-free

  15. Wow very interesting. Thank you.

  16. I am definitely trying the Neom Magnesium Lotion!
I also use a weighted blanket for my legs that like their own dance party!

    1. Thatā€™s a great way to describe it. They just get a life of their own.
