Cashmere Sweaters On Sale at Nordstrom

It’s no surprise that cashmere is my go-to this time of year. I tend to feel the cold more easily these days, and nothing feels as cozy as cashmere. Because much of my collection was moth food over the summer, I’ve been slowly replacing my sweaters. I started where many of them originated from, my favorite department store, Nordstrom.

My philosophy is if you’re going to invest in something for the long run, choosing a neutral is your best bet. Here are the cashmere sweaters I’ve added to my wardrobe, and the bonus is they’re all on sale.

Cashmere Crewneck

Nordstrom brand cashmere is a great quality and price point. When you can snag it on sale, it’s even better! Their Nordstrom brand cashmere is softer than many other brands that cost way more. These sweaters normally retail for $129, and they’re currently on sale for $79.99. This cashmere crew neck comes in thirteen colors, XXS-16W. I bought this soft grey heather because it’s a versatile classic and a great neutral for my wardrobe.

I tucked the front into some straight jeans, then added a simple belt, my super comfy Eileen Fisher knit booties, and silver jewelry. This is a basic uniform for me all winter long, and if you run into me at the mall, this is likely what I’m wearing in one form or another. It’s easy and comfortable, plus the cashmere feels luxurious. A cashmere crewneck also looks great with a skirt or dressy trousers. I love that this has set-in sleeves rather than a drop shoulder, so it has a more streamlined look.

Cashmere Turtleneck

I couldn’t resist this cashmere turtleneck for many reasons. It has a more relaxed style than the other cashmere sweaters, with side slits at the hem and more of a tunic shape. It comes in eleven gorgeous colors. I bought the brown taupe because, again, it’s a great neutral. It no longer matches my graying hair color, but it bookends nicely with my booties. I’ve had these booties forever and reach for them often because they’re nice and wide for my bunion and are water-resistant.

This sweater seems a bit long to tuck or half-tuck, so I’ll wear it out. The shape will look great with slim-leg pants or leggings, depending on the length of your torso. It does have dropped shoulders which increase its laid-back feel.

Cashmere V-Neck

Here’s the same Lagos necklace as the first outfit, this time with the chain doubled to fill the neckline. I love its ability to change the length for different tops. This Vince cashmere sweater is also on sale, and oh my, there really is a big difference in cashmere! This a splurge, but I couldn’t resist because it’s marked down. It’s incredibly soft and has upgraded finishing details, which sets it apart from other brands. This V-neck is on sale in three colors, sizes XXS-XL. Unlike the Nordstrom brand, the small fits me best in Vince. I bought black to round out my neutral cashmere sweater collection and have the gray in my cart.

I went for a classic look all the way here. A column of black with ballet flats. I will wear this outfit over and over for many years to come…in fact, my shoes must be at least 15 years old! The Spanx ponte pants are getting a lot of wear this season. They’re a pull-on style with lots of stretch, and are thick enough to hold things in place, which makes them fabulous in my book.

  1. Love these looks, and cashmere in general – understated elegance!

  2. No cashmere in my wardrobe yet. But plan to check it out at Nordstrom.

  3. You look great in all the sweater styles! I would like to order the Spanx pants and was wondering how they fit. I find most Spanx garments fit super snug. It’s so nice to see them in petites.

    1. I went up one size because I agree, the run small

      1. Thanks, Jennifer! I ordered them in a medium petite so I’ll keep my fingers crossed that they fit. The nice thing is that Nordstrom has such a great return and exchange policy.

  4. Thanks, Jennifer, for showing some cashmere sweaters with sale prices! I need to stock up! Cashmere is the best!

  5. Joanne W. says:

Jennifer…you look just beautiful in your cashmere selections.

  6. LaurieB from Bartlett says:

I find cashmere itchy, but I love how they look and how soft they are, so I’m always looking for cashmere cardigans. I wear them over a top and they don’t come in direct contact with my skin.

  7. Love the crystal ring dish. My SIL is a jeweller and she says you should never sleep with your rings on!

    1. I did not know that, I seldom remove mine, so I suppose I should have a place to keep them when I do.

  8. Cristi Cameron says:

I love cashmere in the cooler months. And yes it is part of my uniform. I like them long so I can wear them with leggings and boots as well as pants and flats. I also had the moths attack mine this summer. A dear friend in the Palo Alto California had her tailor reweave them. For $30 a $400 sweater looks like new. I can’t even find where it was damaged, magic! I am a winter .. or was so mine are black, red and shades of lavender to magenta. I have bought most on sale at Norstrom’s, Quince, Macy’s, Lands End, and Susan Graf’s. They make me feel elegant and casual at the same time. Long live Cashmere!

    1. I have mended my cashmere sweaters for years! It’s a great way to keep them going. I agree, long live cashmere!

  9. Sincerely appreciate your review as just may apply my generously gifted AWSL Nordstrom g/cert to one. Also noticed even that the Men’s 1/2 Zip pullover comes in XS so that could be another option for a relaxed fit, v-neck and turtle-neck all in one.

Footnote: I store my winter sweaters (folded) in cotton, King Size zippered pillow protectors (that I purchased actually at a $-store) which have protected them from moth attacks plus allow ‘the fibers’ of the garments to breath as otherwise over time if stored in plastic, will break down or cause light colors to yellow. Also shall mention a few drops of Peppermint Essential Oil on a cotton ball placed in a closet is a great deterrent for moths (as well as mice BTW if you have them in your home). *Note its odor will dispel quickly to our sense of smell but not to them so frequent and/or continuous application usually isn’t necessary.

    1. Thank you for some moth-preventive tips. I wonder why they are so prevalent now, as I had no problems with moths (or wasps, too) until 4-5 years ago. Have lived in the same home for 40 years.

      1. I wonder that too. Last summer was the worse we’ve ever seen them

    2. I did not know that about peppermint oil! I enjoy that smell so it wouldn’t bother me one bit:)

    3. Cotton, zippered, king size pillow protectors. What a terrific idea!

  10. Will you do a series of what’s on sale at other stores with pictures of their products as well? I don’t shop at Nordstrom as they aren’t petite friendly.

    1. Any store in particular?

  11. I love cashmere sweaters and find them very versatile. I own several and wear them to the office constantly from October to April. They look good with skirts & pants Monday to Thursday and good with jeans on casual Friday.
And, for me, it is worth it spend a bit more for quality. I have some sweaters that I’ve been wearing for at least 15 years and still look as good as the day I purchased them. At this point my cost per wear is less than zero. I also love Nordstroms!

    1. Iā€™m wearing my new ones everyday! Theyā€™re perfect with everything.

  12. I lost some cashmere sweaters due to moths too. Bummer! Nordstrom always has great sales on them. Thanks for letting us know.

  13. Pat Patterson says:

    Good morning,
Since I cannot wear 100% wool sweaters, my go to is cashmere (which when on sale is a good buy). A nice advantage to cashmere, not as bulky and heavy like wool. Iā€™m going to Nordstrom today for one more gift, will check out the cashmere sweaters!
    Have a great day

    1. I agree. Cashmere is cozy but not too hot!

  14. I love cashmere, but sometimes, even expensive ones, can feel scratchy. How did you find these? Love the grey on you and the turtleneck!

    1. These arenā€™t scratchy on my. Turtlenecks are the hardest because theyā€™re so close to the most sensitive parts. The Vince is softer which is why the grey Vince is in my cartā€¦ Iā€™m talking myself into it.

  15. I like the v neck cashmere the best. The thing is , the moths always seem to eat holes with anything wool or wool blend at my house.

    1. Iā€™ve ordered what I think will be the solution to my moth problem. Iā€™ll share as soon as it arrives!

      1. Canā€™t wait to hear what it is that will solve the moth problem

      2. I’m hoping it will be a great solution because I love cashmere.

  16. I have never owned a cashmere sweater but it is on my list to get one in January for my birthday. I think they are the prettiest and the most cozy of all sweaters. You look beautiful in yours! I can’t decide which type I like best.

    1. Start with the neckline and shape you prefer, then go for a color you wear a lot because youā€™ll get the most use out of that!

  17. I love cashmere sweaters, but not always in my budget.
