Casual Yellow Chinos For Spring

Happy April ladies. I spotted two random rosebuds in my garden yesterday and the bees are starting to show up which is a sure sign that spring is here. Our temps are teasing us with the low 80’s signaling that it’s time to shed my neutrals and bring on some color. Todayā€™s outfit includes is a pair of yellow casual chinos that are custom-made for a spring day.

After the year we’ve had, we could all use a dose of something happy and there’s no better time for that than springtime. I saw a lady wearing these chino’s last week and knew I needed to try them. She was rocking her casual chinos with blue gingham sandals and let me tell you, she looked amazing! I found the ones she was wearing and have them on order… so for today, I’m dialing the look down with my comfy platform sneakers.

When the weather warms up, heavy denim can be too warm so casual cotton chinos are a perfect alternative. These relaxed chinos come in 12 colors. After seeing them on the gal with the blue sandals, I couldn’t resist the yellow. It’s a happy color and goes with so many things. These pants have a nice amount of spandex in the fabric which makes them super comfy. Stretch is everything to me these days…especially in pants.

These are available in petite, regular, plus, and plus petite. I’m wearing a 6 petite which feels a bit too roomy through the hips so I would be better with a 4 regular or petite. I like the hem cuffed up for a sporty vibe that’s perfect with sandals or sneakers. You could also unfold them for a slightly more polished look. The lady I spotted was wearing hers rolled down with her sandals.

I paired them with this cheery blue sweater that’s embroidered with bees…very appropriate for the season, don’t you think? Napoleon chose the bee as the emblem to represent his status as emperor. I love bees because they symbolize activity, wisdom, hard work, and being industrious. They also pollinate more than a third of our crops so we would be in big trouble without them!!

It’s a lightweight cotton blend that’s super soft and thin enough to layer under a light blazer or denim jacket if you wanted. I love that the stripes line up at the side seams and sleeves which is a good indication of high-quality workmanship. It’s available in petite, regular, plus, and pus petite. I’m wearing a medium petite so it runs TTS. The three-quarter sleeves are great for spring, provide a fun option to showcase our bracelets, and also help us look taller.

I’m a huge fan of wicker and rattan bags for the warm weather and have been collecting unique ones for years. I couldn’t resist this painted wicker bag with the painted leopard print. I’ve never seen anything like it! The blue lining has a zipper closure on top to prevent everything from flying all over the car …says the lady from experience:)

A metallic sneaker (budget-friendly option) is a fun alternative to color for spring. These have a highly cushioned footbed so they’re super comfy. The platform is also a nice touch because it gives a tiny boost to my height.

Let’s go out and make it a great day ladies and be sure to wear what makes you feel confident.

  3. Happy Easter. I love your outfit. I wish we had Talbot’s in Australia, a few years ago we were in Chicago and I spent a lot of time shopping in Talbot’s.

    1. Happy Easter Robyn!

  4. You look really great in this outfit! somehow the stripes make you look very slim!

  5. I love the sweater! I can see it with white or regular blue jeans too with yellow sandals, maybe? The orchid color pants would look beautiful worn with white top and light blue jacket. I love the yellow pants though. So spring!

Hi! I just have to say, Jennifer, you look fabulous in every way! Your makeup, your hairstyle, your smile, your trim physique, the outfit! Not sure what all you’ve done, but you look so polished and happy. I know you have ongoing hair concerns, as do I, but this style really works!

  7. Fun ‘n casual but polished at the same time and encouraging that where I am, Spring will eventually come. (Our temps have been all over the board!) Re the fabric weight of the Chinos, are they something that you would wear during your California summer? In other words, not as heavy as denim. (Thank you.)
Last but not least; HAPPY EASTER TO YOU and YOURS. -Brenda-

  8. Cute outfit. Like the wicker bag too but yikes on the price of it!

  9. Love this outfit, and it makes me hopeful for real spring weather here in the upper midwest!

  10. Adorable! You look fantastic and ready for Spring! The temps will be in the 70ā€™s here in Colorado this weekend. I put both items in my Talbots cart! Happy Easter šŸ£!

  11. A great Spring/Summer outfit!

  12. I really like that outfit on you. I was returning in my Talbots last week, NE Ohio, and I saw that sweater and chinos. I am still worried about trying things on in stores. It is snowing here today in NE Ohio! I really enjoy your posts and blog. Thank you.

  13. What a great spring outfit! and it looks like the chinos come in some other nice colors, too. Iā€™m not wrapping my head around the rolled up hems, though. It makes my ankles cold.

  14. Great outfit – love the shoes! And your hair looks amazing here. Iā€™ve screen-shorted your first photo to take to my hair stylist next month – going back to my short bob and yours is the one I want. Thank you for the inspiration.

  15. You look smashing! Love this look on you! Way to rock Spring! Happy Easter!

Another great outfit! Question about the pants…when unrolled do they taper? I am better with a straight or flared pant. These are so cute I hooe they donā€™t taper!

    1. Itā€™s a small fold so they appear straight to me. If they are tapered itā€™s extremely slight.

      1. Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to answer. Talbots, while not new to me, I have never bought anything from them. Fortunately there is one at the nearest mall so when confident enough re covid, I will check them out for sure!

  17. Bonnie Pettit says:

Your sweater and pants look like a fun outfit to wear. I love chino pants and and your bee sweater is perfect. We are in Florida now, but look forward to traveling back north to see Spring in full bloom!

    1. It is fun to wear šŸ™‚

  18. This look is perfection! Spring personified! I love wearing yellow, although I know some people find it hard to wear, in which case, wearing it in a chino is a great option. The bee sweater could not be any cuter! I’ve already clicked your links to check out the chinos. I’m thinking the rhubarb (on sale!) and the yellow would be great additions to my wardrobe. Thanks for the super finds!

    1. Thanks! Talbots colors are so fabulous this spring! The whole store looks like a happy rainbow šŸŒˆšŸŒˆ

  19. Suzanne Daehlin says:

This is a look that you completely own. Adorable, casual and perfectly coordinated. The colors are refreshing and look wonderful on you.

  20. Jennifer, you are my personal influencer! I started getting your emails in January and have purchased several items after seeing them on you (duster style sweater, military jacket, tassel earrings, laser cut sandals with block heel) and now I am feeling the need to buy metallic sneakers! So much more fun than plain white. Iā€™m not crazy about yellow pants, but I see these also come in orchid which appeals to me. I am so sick of my winter sweatpants!

    1. That orchid is gorgeous!! Talbots colors are amazing this spring. Thanks for joining us here. Metallic shoes of all kind are just happy shoes to me šŸ˜

    2. Peggy Foster says:

I have the Relaxed Chinos from Talbot’s. I have the yellow and a reddish color called Rhubarb” (I think it’s Rhubarb, anyway). They run a little small, so I sized to. I love them. I’m looking forward to a jeans alternative for Arizona summers. I think the sweater is cute. I may order it. Thanks, Jennifer. You’re great!

  21. Without a doubt, this is a simply gorgeous style and color combination for you! From head to sparkly toe, itā€™s says ā€œcelebrate springā€!
I usually avoid any chinos and vertical stripes. I hesitate to create such a small window of possibilities for my clothing choices but so often when Iā€™ve tried to step out of that comfort zone, I have made purchases that I regret later.
Itā€™s 17 degrees here this morning but by Easter we could be edging close to 70 degrees! I am so looking forward to the first sign of greenhouses opening in our area.

    1. Whoops! Sb horizontal, not vertical! Lol

    2. It feels so fun to wear yellow! I shocked myself. Hang in there, spring will arrive.

  22. Tina Olson says:

I love the yellow and it goes with so much in my wardrobe. Iā€™m so ready for spring as a beautiful weekend comes my way.

    1. Iā€™ve never looked so forward to spring as much as I do this year.

  23. Love these chinos in yellow! Youā€™ve inspired me to buy them! (Considering the adorable sweater too!)

  24. Your outfit made me smile – a perfect, casual Spring look. I’m so envious of your weather – we are getting snow flurries today. On the bright side, I’m finally getting my hair cut today and my first shot of the vaccine.
