Classic White Denim Jacket

A great denim jacket is an essential part of my wardrobe. It’s a simple basic that coordinates with almost everything and feels more sporty than a blazer. I’ve worn the blue version of today’s denim jacket for many years, so was thrilled to find and add the white one to my collection. Today’s look starts with a classic white denim jacket and striped linen pants. I added a navy tank top, silver hoops and a wide silver bangle, similar, and some fun cork wedge sandals.

I have a pretty healthy collection of denim jackets yet the one I reach for again and again is this one by Vince Camuto. It’s not too fitted, not too loose, and so comfy that I wear it more often than all my others, combined.

When I spotted this one in white, I knew I needed it. I bought a medium so I can fit lightweight tops and sweaters underneath which makes it very versatile. I always roll my denim jacket sleeves up so their length isn’t that important but I do hate when they’re too short. A reader asked if we need to be able to button our denim jackets. I don’t think so, but they should look like you could.

This navy tank top is made with a soft, stretchy knit fabric that’s super comfy and cool to the touch. It comes in 7 colors sized 0/2 – 20/22. I’m wearing an 8-10 because I like my tank tops looser in the summer. I’ve tucked mine in to help my legs look as long as possible but it has a straight hem and looks equally nice worn out.

You saw me try on these linen pants here in khaki/black stripe but I ultimately decided to buy the cream/navy. I’ve had navy on the brain this spring and love how crisp it looks with white. These have a nice high rise and are sized XXS-18(16W). I’m wearing a small so they run true to size. Many of us are not fans of the drawstring that brands put in their elastic waistbands. I know I’m not. And since I don’t need it to hold my pants up, I usually snip and pull mine out.

A white sandal would be expected with this outfit so I opted for cork which looks like a nude and helps elongate the look of my legs. I’m seeing lots of cork sandals this spring. These wedges are by Gentle Souls. The brand is known for its cushioned footbed with arch support with updated styling so you don’t sacrifice comfort for style.Ā These are very secure on my foot and comfy to walk in. They also come in the cheeriest fuchsia here, taupe suede here, and black leather here.

  1. Love this outfit! Navy & white are timeless. Did you buy regular or petite in the linen pants?

    1. I bought the regular and hemmed them up 1 1/2 inches

  2. Love this outfit. Going to have to get me a white jean jacket.
    You look great Jennifer.

  3. I am the human stain magnet. It would be a disservice to the jacket for me to wear it.

  4. Lovely outfit. Just my style! Did you have to hem the pants?

    1. Yes, I washed and dried them to be sure any shrinkage had occurred then tuned them up 1ā€

I like this look and can pull it together with a white denim vest or my favorite white denim jacket from Coldwater Creek bought years ago. Lots of use from early May through end of September when temps drop here in MN.

  6. Love todayā€™s post, you look so lovely.
I just gave away a white denim jacket as it was too stiff.
You make me think I may need to shop for a new one!

    1. Many are way too stiff

So in love with the look today! Am going to have to check out the linen pants at Nordstrom. I have a white denim jacket that I love! It is a Diane Gilman. Just enough stretch, and very soft, and this year I added a light blue denim jacket to my wardrobe. These are my gotos for comfort and style, look forward every day to your posts. Thank you fir sharing.

  8. I love denim jackets but here in the south, we actually wear them more in the Winter and spring. Summer and jacket just donā€™t compute. I love stripe pants and especially love the colors in these. I forget how well cream plays with navy. Cork shoes are like straw sandals. They go with everything. So good to own a few pair. You look great in this.

    1. Thatā€™s how I feel about the cork too.

  9. I bought an off-white denim chore jacket at Old Navy recently that was on sale and goes with everything. It has pockets that are actually functional. Love it!

This looks great on you! I love this look and have tried similar pants, but as a “pear” I really need the structure of a more substantial fabric. Fortunately our summers on the coast aren’t often too hot!

  10. Great outfit! A classic look that flatters you! I too have a love/hate relationship with denim. Unless I get a slightly longer length, it looks too boxy on me. The linen and denim combo are great together. Thanks again!

  11. Love this outfit, but I’d like to see if this jacket is boxy looking in the back. Why do so few bloggers show their outfits from the back? I know that nobody wants to show that side of themselves, but I do a grateful happy dance when they do because it’s just so helpful to see how everything is fitting from the back!

    1. Iā€™ll try to remember to get a few.

  12. I really like this outfit on you! I would wear it! Itā€™s comfortable, itā€™s layered and itā€™s ready for summer!

  13. You look cute. I like the look.

  14. I love my denim jackets and have six: blue denim, blue denim distressed with shrunken fit (I do disagree a bit that they have to look like they can button … in the spring with light dresses the shrunken fits seem ā€œlighterā€ in their look), white, distressed black, navy and white striped and black and white striped. While I wear these in retirement, I wore them to work almost constantly as a teacher. They last forever and get softer with age. My favorites come from Chicoā€™s because they are very stretchy but still look like traditional denim, they are not as cropped and boxy as some, and their pockets are in places that flatter the figure.

  15. I have a white denim jacket and wear it often until our summer weather sets in.
Liked your outfit today, navy is a good color for me.

  16. I loved my white denim jacket but it finally just wore out. I replaced it with a blush colored one that I haven’t worn yet so we will see. Your pants look so cute on you. Im not sure that style would work for me but I might try some on.

  17. I have a white denim jacket that has lace sleeves and a lace insert in the back. It suits my style personality (elegant-romantic), plus the lace sleeves are cool for summer.

I have tried more traditional denim jackets in the past, but I just don’t feel comfortable in them. It’s all about what makes you feel good.

  18. I love my white denim jacket. It’s got stretch, the fabric isn’t too heavy for summer, and the jacket is super comfy. I won’t wear a jacket that doesn’t move with me. I love this look. It’s classy yet cool and comfortable. I’ve been considering purchasing these pants since you featured them. I’m making the purchase.

  19. Nice, crisp summer look, but the denim jacket would be too hot and stiff for me on a day when Iā€™d (happily) wear the pants and top. That said, I have three white summer sweaters to choose from ! I havenā€™t owned a denim jacket of any color in years, they just donā€™t call to me.

  20. I had mine on yesterday with a navy maxi dress, navy and white sandals and navy handbag. Wore a long silver necklace and matching earrings. I m like you I grab this and my blue denim one all summer long, not much they donā€™t go with. Also have a pale pink one I wear quite often since pink In All shades is my go to color. I prefer navy over black for summer as my base color.
I fully support wear what makes you happy.

  21. I was thrilled to see the striped linen pants come center stage today! When you described the fit and feel of that white denim jacket, it sums up why we love a garment so much. Not only does it look fabulous, it feels wonderful.
You will reach for these pieces over and over.
I am so inspired by this featured ootd! I can do this!

  22. While I really like the look of a white denim like this, I just don’t feel comfortable in them. I have tried many over the years and end up donating them. It seems stiff fabrics of any sort are the same, and after watching Susan’s chat from Sunday, I understand why I have always felt this way. You look fabulous in this outfit and the length of the jackets suits you very well. Love the pants.
