Colorful Bathing Suits for Women Over 50 From Nordstrom

I’ve heard from so many of you saying you have an upcoming trip to somewhere sunny and need bathing suits and cover-up recommendations, especially modest and comfortable ones. I was on the hunt before my recent trip to Mexico and found everything I needed at Nordstrom! I’ve found that they have one of the best selections and carry the go-to brands that I can always count on fitting, like La Blanca, Tommy Bahama, and Miraclesuit.

There’s something about vacation that makes me want to wear more color, and this swimsuit was exactly what I was looking for. La Blanca makes quality swimsuits and brings back many of the same styles year after year. Their “Island Goddess” silhouette is one of them! I’ve purchased this style before in a coral color, so when I saw this print, I immediately added it to my cart, knowing it would fit well and look great.

The suit comes in both prints and solid colors in sizes 2-16. The side ruching is subtle but is an important feature for me because it helps camouflage my own ruching 😉. The legs aren’t cut too high, and the bodice is not low cut, making it just the kind of modest bathing suit I like.

As I started to go through what I was bringing on the trip, I realized that I didn’t have a large enough tote to bring to the pool and beach. I was shopping for a packable tote that wouldn’t take up too much room in my luggage but could expand large enough to carry all of my and my husband’s pool and beach essentials.

I landed on this navy and white canvas travel tote from Longchamp. It’s larger than my other Longchamp totes and able to hold all of our things, so I made him carry it most of the time .😊 Luckily, the stripe is classic, so he didn’t feel self-conscious about it. I also love that it folds flat for storage and fits into my suitcase easily.

I’m starting to develop a collection of these waterproof slide sandals from Birkenstock. I grabbed a new pair to take with me, and I’m so glad I did. They’re waterproof, making them the perfect shoe for the beach or the pool, and their contoured footbed with arch support makes them ultra comfortable.

I also packed this packable Panama hat to shield my scalp and face from the sun. It comes in several different options, but my favorite combination is this light gray and tan. I used my TopTote hat clip to attach it to my tote, which proved to be genius and was strong enough to hold both my and my husband’s hat hanging from my suitcase when we traveled.

The other brand that I can always count on for a well-fitting swimsuit is Miraclesuit! Their suits are worth every penny. This one is a bit of a splurge, but their exclusive Miratex fabric has three times the control of any other swimsuit.

I felt like everything was being held in without being suffocating. My husband loved the sweetheart neckline, and I was a big fan of the coverage and slimming effect it seemed to give me. I also found the navy so much more flattering against my pale skin than black would be. The Nordstrom website suggested it ran small, so I went up a size, and it fits perfectly.

I love this little white coverup/dress. It’s fully lined, which makes it opaque enough to conceal my dark navy suit. I felt totally covered enough to grab lunch in town and do a little shopping. The cotton jacquard fabric was lightweight and airy, and I found that it dried quickly. I’m not into overly feminine details, but these fun tassels and embroidered trim are perfect for a warm-weather location, and I felt fabulous wearing this as a coverup and as a dress. It also comes in black.

This All Saints crossbody bag is very lightweight, durable, and holds quite a lot. This is my second year carrying this bag, and I love it. The strap is removable if you want to carry it as a clutch, and it has a magnetic closure on top. I filled it with soft clothes, packed it flat inside my suitcase, and it arrived looking brand new.

I also have to call out my Ecco Flowt sandals, which are the most comfortable sandals I own…and that’s saying a lot. The velcro straps allow me to adjust for a secure fit across the top of my foot, and the footbed is a dream to walk on. This is my second year in these sandals as well, and they’ve held up beautifully.
