Dean Davidson with An Exciting Giveaway For My Readers

Happy Tuesday ladies. I’ve always been a bit of a jewelry nut and I came by it naturally. My grandmother loved and collected it, my mother loved and collected it, and I’ve passed that tradition on to my daughter. When I visited Vanessa in Vancouver last fall, we had a blast visiting with her friends, getting our first Hydra facial, dining out, and of course shopping… all the pre-pandemic joy that I’d sure love to have right about now! Today I am introducing the Dean Davidson Jewelry Collection.

On one of our shopping excursions, we discovered a jewelry collection by a Canadian designer called Dean Davidson. The Vancouver Nordstrom had a fairly small collection but enough to have us wanting more. Vanessa bought this gorgeous pair of pearlĀ and brushed gold earrings before I could get my credit card out…I have trained her well:)fashion blogger Jennifer Connolly wearing Dean Davidson Origami earrings

We both loved them – they’re simple, elegant, organic shape is a modern classic. I tried unsuccessfully to steal them upon my departure but no luck.

Fast forward to this past month, I discovered the brand again while browsing on Instagram, in particular, I saw these Ipanema earrings which are amazing. I adore the way the stone sits in its setting. I’ve never seen anything quite like this!

I asked a question on the Instagram image and connected with Dean who offered to send me a few pieces to try!Ā  It turns out these amazing earrings are part of the DD Icons collection which are worn time and again as red-carpet staples. These instantly-recognizable pieces represent both the origin and evolution of the Dean Davidson brand.

Dean Davidson discovered his love for designing jewelry after an inspirational trip to Africa and launched his line in 2007. Dean’s collections are designed in Toronto, Canada, and meticulously crafted in a traditional family-owned workshop of multi-generational master gem cutters in Jaipur, India. He was honored as the Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards 2019 Accessories Designer of the Year. Each piece is cast out of high-quality brass and finished in 22 k gold or rhodium and set with custom-cut semi-precious gemstones.

MAR GEMSTONE STATEMENT EARRING

The Mar collection is named after the Portuguese word for sea and features vibrant, ocean-hued gemstones evocative of glistening seas in the midday sun.

What I love about these pieces, is they can be dressed up for a formal affair (if we ever get out of the house again!), and they also pair well with a simple T-shirt and jeans. The stones are particularly beautiful – they have a lot of fire and life in them.

I thought each pair of earrings I put on was my favorite until I saw my daughter borrow and wear these. They are the exact color of our eyes and one of my very favorite stones!

The collection’s signature brushed-finish is a technique Dean learned during his time in Paris. I love how it gives a soft, timeless, luxurious, and unique quality to each design. I’ve seen his pieces on many celebrities – including Oprah, the Duchess of Sussex, and Jennifer Lopez.

Wow! Such a unique and beautiful collection, it’s really hard to to have just one favorite! I really love all the pieces you modeled and so many more, but I think my favorite favorite is the Ipanema earrings with laboradite… or blue topaz… or rainbow moonstone — I still can’t decide! And the Oragami link bracelet and Infinity drop earrings with pearls are so elegant and timeless, I have to say those get equal love! Thank you for introducing us to this beautiful collection!

  2. Absolutely beautiful jewelry! Thank you for introducing us to this designer. After drooling over many items on the website, I suppose the Origami Infinity Chain in Gold and Pearl would be my choice–but what a tough choice it is to say just one piece! I adore the Lagos Collection as well the Mar Collection!

  3. Sharon Stultz-Karim says:

    Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for having this opportunity to win a $250 gift certificate for Dean Davidson’s jewelry collection. I have gone to his website several times to review his collection thinking that I may be able to win a piece or two. I love the unique designs that I am sure will be timeless pieces to any woman’s jewelry collection.
If I won the gift certificate, I would select either the Rainbow Moonstone or Labradorite Bamboo Gemstone Studs. I only wear stud earrings, and I find the bamboo details surrounding the stone adds that ethnic detail I love in my jewelry.
Thank you, again, for this opportunity, and thank you for your fashion blog that is focussed on my age contemporaries who value our wisdom that only comes through living life.

  4. I’d buy the PRAIA PAVE HOOPS. I need a new pair of hoops and I love the addition of the beautiful aquamarine stones.

  5. I was not familiar with Dean Davidson jewelry but now love it all! Hard to pick what I would choose if I won the gift card (I am not a lucky winner). I found myself going back to the jewelry you highlighted in your post as seeing it on you, how you styled it, and why you love it helps me decide if I would like it. This is what I find valuable in following you and have learned so much! So I would choose the Ipanema earrings, the Origami Infinity in pearl and add in the Lagos Frame pendant, each in that lovely brushed gold. Thank you, Jennifer

  6. Hello, Jennifer!
Thank you for sharing your world, style, and wonderful thoughts and information with us. I’ve learned a lot from you!

I visited Dean Davidson’s FB and website. His jewelry is very tasteful and simple, yet makes a huge statement at the same time. I would purchase the mini stud earrings…one pair for me and one pair for my sister 😊

    Cheers!

  7. Carrie Fox says:

Hi Jennifer, I recently started following your blog and I’m really enjoying the content you’ve shared. You are an inspiration and an integral part of my continuing journey to improve myself and bring more joy and happiness to my life.

Thank you for the introduction to Dean Davidson jewelry, is so beautiful. I would buy the Statement necklace in gold. It’s so versatile and I would wear it frequently. I could also add charms and wear it like a pendant necklace. I have recently started to wear less beaded costume type chunky jewelry and have been buying more fine jewelry. I’m just not a dainty multi layered necklace type of gal. The larger gauge chain link necklaces suit me perfectly!

  8. Suzanne Giroux says:

I would buy the Signature Knockout Bracelet in Gold and Black Onyx. The reason I would choose this item is because I can wear this with casual or more formal attire and it would not look out of place.

Continued good health and enjoy the precious time with your daughter.

  12. Hi Jennifer, I love the burgundy jumpsuit on you, that color makes you glow. I’m trying to get up the nerve to try one! I enjoyed seeing Dean Davidson’s Jewelry Collection. Such an organic sense of style that is totally timeless, elegant and modern too, but I noticed thoughtful details in the design, like the backs of the signature midi knockout studs so they would fit right. This would be my first choice as an introduction to this amazing collection, it is something I would wear all week with confidence! Thanks for sharing this and so many other inspiring things with us.

  13. What a wonderful designer and such classic pieces! I ordered the Midi Knockout Studs in Labradorite and Gold and can’t wait to wear them. Thanks to you and Dean for the discount code! If I won the certificate, I would buy the Ipanema Earrings. They are understated and elegant. Just wearing them would brighten my day. I think the virus has caused us to stop and reflect on the simple things that bring us joy and happiness.

  14. Love this beautiful jewelry collection. I would love to have the Signature pave triple drop earrings for my collection of jewelry.

  15. Karen aagesen says:

Love the Origami collection, so simple, but beautiful lines! The loop drop earrings are gorgeous but currently sold out, but maybe they’ll come back! The ring, so simple and classic! Thanks for sharing this designer, he’s one I will enjoy following!

  16. Thank you for promoting a Canadian designer with such stunning jewelry! I love wearing earrings, so my choice would be either the Origami Infinity Drop in silver and pearl or the large square hoop. Both of those would be worn a lot.

  17. Love the origami pearl hoops that you have on! Thanks for the chance in your drawing!

  18. Donna Macdonald says:

So many breathtaking and dramatic pieces! Thank you for introducing us to this talented Canadian designer. Although it’s difficult to choose just one piece, I would definitely enjoy the Lagos Cuff in gold.

  20. Thank you for introducing us to this wonderful designer. I have been drooling over all of the beautiful jewelry on his website. I may have to treat myself to a ā€œCOVID 19 ā€œ piece of jewelry. Love it.

  21. Wow, beautiful jewelry. My birthday is in September and now I know where to shop. I have a hard time choosing but the signature twin cuff is stunning. Thank you!

  22. I would have to start with the Signature Large knock-out Studs…..just this earring would keep me busy for very long time with 13 different stones to choose from! And the fact that he is from Canada just makes me want to support a fellow Canadian šŸ™‚

  23. The mars mini drop gemstone necklace would be a perfect gift for my daughter who is a nurse working on front line. She deserves this piece of beauty! Thank you so much, Jennifer, for introducing us to this gifted designer. I bought earrings for my daughter and me today from his site. We need beauty especially now.

  24. Karen Stewart says:

A beautiful collection. It was the Praia Pendant Necklace that caught my eye. The waterfall concept – the flow of life, happiness, living in the present moment. Thank you for showcasing a very talented artist and to offer this amazing opportunity to all of us.

  25. I would LOVE to have the PRAIA PAVE BANGLES, as they are my daughter’s birthstone. I need to replace my “Life Stripes” that I sold to support us when my husband left us. David’s jewellery is lovely and beautiful. I will continue to shop his site.

  26. Mary Lou Hartman says:

Beautiful Jewelry! I would purchase the silver pave bar chain bracelet and knockout stud earrings.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

  27. What a wonderful discovery! I also collect jewelry as did my father who loved gifting it to my mother! Nothing brings more pleasure than to wear jewelry that someone you cherished once owned or gifted you. Dean Davidson has created timeless pieces that would be treasured gifts or heirloom pieces. I spied the stunning Maiko earrings. I would wear these unique timeless hoops and know I would not be forgotten by the granddaughter I chose to inherit them.

  28. I don’t know if others have this problem with jumpsuits and when they’re advertised it’s never told how to disembark them to use the bathroom without having to fully undress? Anybody got a solution?

  29. Such stunning pieces! I had no idea Dean Davidson is a Canadian designer, so thanks so much for doing this piece on him. My daughter is getting married, and I would love to give her the Ipanema earrings in gold and blue topaz: something new, and something blue! That is certainly what I would use the gift certificate for.

  30. Chris Bannard says:

A lovely Canadian designer I did not know about. Well – there are a number of pieces I just put on my Christmas wish list lol. I think the first piece I would want to purchase is the Bamboo Gemstone Stud Earrings with the rainbow moonstone. Then I would move on to the Signature Knockout pieces because they would be wonderful everyday pieces. And then … I may be going down a rabbit hole here.

  31. Oh my goodness! Everything that Dean Davidson designs is just lovely. I would be happy with any of his pieces. Thank you for sharing this with us all.

Thank you also, for your blog, which I look forward to reading each day. You have a great attitude towards everything and always seem to have a smile on your face. You have taught me a ton in the short period that I have followed you.

Jennifer!! Thank you so much for enlightening me on this jewelry collection by Dean Davidson!! His designs are “amazeballs”!! I especially love the Ipanema earrings in the blue topaz. I was drawn to them immediately when I saw them on you!! So unique and unusual, as are many of his designs!! Thanks for this great introduction!!

  33. I love supporting Canadian artists. Also–as I tell my husband, a woman can’t have too much jewelry. (Sorry I can’t enter the contest but I do not do Facebook. “Invention of the devil,” IMO.)

  34. Miss Boots says:

I would purchase the Praia Pave Hoops – so classic and elegant.

  35. It is all beautiful but I rarely wear jewelry anymore. I lean toward long necklaces when I do wear jewelry. Like new perfume or shoes though, nothing can cheer you up better than new jewelry. You look lovely in all of it and where did that georgeous blue patterned shirt come from? I love it. Blue is definitely your color.

  36. Oh my , absolutely stunning jewellery !!! Thank you for the introduction to one of our own šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦.The Lagos Pendant Necklace caught my eye . It would be a
classic piece to wear with all my clothes and create a simple vertical down the centre .To be totally candid , I
would also use it as my ā€œworry bead ā€œ until this pandemic passes !

  37. Sharon Maybaum says:

I love the burgundy/red jumper or seperates that you are wearing. Could you tell me where to purchase it?

    The jewelry is lovely!

  46. Dawn-Marie Valdron says:

I would purchase the IPANEMA earrings. I have just lost about 80lbs and have had to buy an entire new wardrobe which was definitely not in my budget. I have purchased a lot of blue items as it is my husbands favorite color and he has been so supportive in my healthier way of life. I have also recently considered gold as opposed to the silver or white gold which has been my staple thus far. Thank you for this opportunity!

  47. Beautiful jewelry! I love the first ones you mentioned with pearl and brushed gold. They look great with everything. Thanks for sharing this artisan!

  48. I too have quite the jewelry collection, but none of mine are like DD’s. This is a very nice collection. My choice piece would be the Ipanema earrings in Labradorite. I like this design with the anchor accent at the ear lobe, rather than a wire drop. Also, it looks like the drop is not too long. Thank you for this fun offer!

    1. Oops. I didn’t mean to post twice! Time for coffee!!

  49. Connie Crill says:

Oh, my….such beautiful jewelry! I’m a big fan of hoop earrings, so I would choose the Bossa Hoops. They are so edgy….

  50. Hello!

  51. Karen Johnson says:

The Origami hoops! They are similar to a pearl drop I wear, but the gemstone makes them versatile and fresh.

  52. Sharon Smith says:

Beautiful collections. I’ve been looking for a pair of earrings with a little bit of dangle, but not too dressy. I would love the bamboo gemstone drop earrings. Classic.

    1. What a beautiful collection! I think I would choose the Origami bracelet!

  55. Beautiful jewelry! I would love to win your giveaway but I have successfully weaned myself off FB and I’m not going back! Instagram is quickly becoming invasive and I’m slowly unfollowing more and more posts. I understand this is how my favorite bloggers are getting exposure but I just can’t handle the amount of suggested accounts I get every day. Love your blog and will continue with the email notification but right now I’m feeling so overwhelmed with social media!

  56. The Ipanema Earrings in Blue Topaz.
Love the whole largo line of jewelry!

  57. So glad to be following you both! I’m saving up for the pearl/gold ones in your original post but then I saw the Praia Pave Hoops! Thanks for sharing his designs!

  58. Wow…a Canadian designer! Always looking to support Canadian (as a Canadian). Jennifer, the Castle ring in blue topaz…sigh…the bold, unique shape. Absolutely stunning!

  60. I try to look “clean and neat” when I’m shopping or visiting doctors” – but you’ve upped my game with your lovely touches, jewelry, hats, scarves, a pin on your jacket!. I like the understated look so I’m looking for the “jumpsuit”that you have in a maroon tone, paired with the white jacket.

    Never too old for fashion!!!!

  61. Audrey Stewart says:

  71. Linda Simpson says:

I guess it’s too early for me this morning. I forgot to add that I would buy the Ipanema earrings. I adore the faceted blue stone set into the simple gold setting. It looks elegant and simple yet playful, all of which define my style.

  72. Linda Simpson says:

Jennifer, thank you for sharing a part of this beautiful collection! Like you, my grandmother and mother loved their jewelry and passed that love on to me. As a little girl, I would go into Grandma’s bedroom and go through her jewelry, admiring each piece. I ended up with her entire brooch collection, a pearl necklace, and her wedding set. I also got my mother’s collection upon her passing, and I cherish wearing pieces from both. They give me joy, and I also receive compliments when I wear something that belonged to my lovely grandma and mom.

  73. Thank you for introducing us to such a talented designer! I love the aesthetic of his pieces–they are right up my alley. I would love the Ipanema silver earrings with the blue topaz for my niece who is such a loving soul with an incredible work ethic. I know she would treasure them.

  75. The Mar gemstone statement collar is simply gorgeous! I am new to the David Davidson collection. I don’t wear a lot of jewelry but this collection would offer that finishing touch that’s simple but elegant at the same time. These are not trendy pieces but timeless accessories that would span years of wear. Simply beautiful!

  76. Such pretty jewelry…thanks for the introduction. I tend to wear smaller earrings and the Bamboo gemstone studs and the Origami hoops caught my eye as I was browsing. I plan on giving the site a thorough investigation while hiding my credit card…so many tempting pieces.
