Easy Casual Looks From Kohls

Right around mid-summer, I feel the need for no-fuss casual looks that are comfy and forgiving. That means no tight waistbands and shoes that are wide enough to give my feet some extra room for when they swell. I’m thrilled to partner with Kohls once again because they have a great selection of those pieces at prices that your wallet will love. Today I have two easy casual looks from Kohls.

This Simply Vera Vera Wang utility shirt is as comfy as can be. The soft rayon twill fabric feels cool to the touch and smooth against the skin. It comes in three colors in sizes XS-XXL. I chose this muted dusty sage because it’s a great color for now and a perfect way to transition to fall when it’s still warm out, but you want to start wearing richer colors. I love the way sage coordinates with black, navy, and brown.

It has a high-low hem that’s long enough to cover your backside, which I consider mandatory with skinnier pants or leggings. I always find button tabs on my sleeves a great option because it keeps them rolled up without having to fuss. I opted for the medium but could just have easily worn the small.

Since the top is long enough to cover everything, I opted for some super lightweight and stretch white denim leggings. These are a cotton/polyester/spandex blend with a power mesh tummy panel that holds everything in.

These come in three colors. I have the bottom folded under about 2″, and they stayed in place. If you do feel fabulous about showing your tummy and backside in leggings, these have real back pockets and faux front ones.

My slip-on sneakers are by Dr. Scoll’s, which is a brand I know I can rely on for comfy shoes. They’re lightweight and flexible, with extra cushioning for comfort and support. These come in six colors, and I’m wearing the oyster. They have two stretch gore panels for easy-on, easy-off and have a padded collar around the top so nothing rubs your ankles.

My second outfit is in soft shades of beige that channel my favorite coastal grandmother vibe. I’ve discovered that Croft & Barrow makes great quality basics in lovely, soft fabrics. These pull-on pants come in ten colors and prints in both regular, short, and tall inseam. They’re a stretchy cotton blend that’s got a nice satiny sheen to the finish. I’m so used to having to hem my pants that I was delighted to find the 8 short are a perfect length for me. It doesn’t get any easier than a pull-on pant which keeps things smoother in the tummy area too!

I topped them with this 100% cotton boatneck tee. This is a super popular tee that comes in 20 colors and patterns. The stripes on my tee line up at the side seams and armholes, which is a great sign of quality. It’s made from a nice opaque knit with 3/4 sleeves. I also love that it’s roomy enough through the torso not to cling anywhere.

  1. Hi Jennifer,
I don’t understand your “buy you a cup of coffee” plea.
I love your blog, but find this a little off putting. It seems to come up frequently.
Do you not want people reading your blog if they’re not purchasing or buying you a cup of coffee? Just asking out of curiosity since I keep seeing it, but have purchased from your site. Thanks…

    1. The buy me a coffee application is for ladies who would like to support my business, but don’t or can’t purchase anything through my links. It’s not a responsive plugin so it is always visible whether you purchase or not. My blog is of course free to read anytime.

  2. Jennifer, recommend Dr. Schoolā€™s sneakers. Are they good for walking in Italy?

    1. I find mine very comfortable. There are a lot of cobblestones in Italy and solid shoes that tie on are helpful.

  3. Two cute outfits; perfect for mid-summer into fall. You’ve found some gems from Kohl’s.

    1. I agree. They have some great pieces…I can’t wait to see what they get for fall!

  4. Thank you for the Kohlā€™s ideas, especially pull-on pant styles. I never use the coupons from Amazon returns because I donā€™t know what to look for. Now I do!

  5. I’m going to order the black leggings soon as I’m done here. Can’t imagine wearing them now 107 expected today, but when the weather changes they will be perfect.

    1. It is hard to imagine fall weather but we know it will get here:) Stay cool, Carole

  6. Agree with Debbie! I just bought the pants in Forge Gray, some skimmer long knee length shorts, a shirt and some light wash jeans. Free shipping and with member discount it all cost $103 plus change! My kind of shopping budget! Thank you for all of your links and styling ideas. Sorry I couldnā€™t get your boatneck in the beige strip in my size. It looks so good on you!

    1. You did very well! Maybe they will get the tee back in your size.

  7. Thanks for showing Kohls. I like to shop there since its more budget friendly for basics. Very cute outfits, as always!

  8. I’ve always shopped at Kohl’s because they have a petite department with good selections. It’s just become harder and harder to find petites. Love that you paired with Kohl’s!

    1. I agree, petites are getting harder to find. I love that Kohls carries them.

I love the Simply Vera Vera Wang utility shirt. I’m going on a trip soon, and I hate having to strip at the airport if I forget and wear jeans, so I was looking for something to cover up a work out type pant or something with zero metal. I’m going to run to the local Kohl’s today and see if I can find that top. Thanks–and I love your posts. Please keep them coming.

    1. Have fun on your trip!

  10. Great choices! What is your take on horizontal stripes? They look good on you but I feel they make me wider which I donā€™t need. Thank you!

    1. They do draw the eye sideways, but I love the look so wear them anyway. FYI, a wider stripe broadens your look more than a narrower stripe.

Not long ago, I discovered that Kohls carries a fairly wide assortment of petite sizes, including the striped boatneck Croft & Barrow top you feature above.

    1. Many of their Lands End pieces come in petite also.

  12. Great looks today. More in my budget. Thank you.

    1. My pleasure, Rory. Kohls has lots of great pieces.

  13. Great basics! I’m especially drawn to the beige/white striped tee with 3/4 sleeves. Nice!

    1. Itā€™s such a nice weight tee.

  14. You have become my go to gal. I enjoy your posts and learn much from your style and grace. THANK YOU

    1. Thatā€™s so sweet. Thank you Debbie
