Pop-In and Take Off

The weather in Vancouver has been perfect for wearing cashmere pullovers, which is a good thing because that’s about all I brought with me. I add one or two to my collection each fall because they’re my go-to look with a nice pair of jeans, and booties, all winter long.

They’re downy soft, easy to pop on and add just the right amount of warmth for me. I do have cashmere from other brands but the majority of my pullovers are from Everlane. The quality is wonderful and I love the price.

My daughter and I spent a lot of time shopping this week so imagine my delight to discover a pop-in shop at Nordstrom!Jennifer Connolly entering Everlane pop up in Nordstrom

The pop-in shop only carries a small selection of the Everlane collection, but it’s large enough for you to try different shapes and fabrications.

This alpaca sweater is the softest of soft. It’s available in ten luscious colors on the Everlane website and four on the Nordstrom site.

I thought the Rose was my favorite color until I held up this Deco Green;)

My cashmere scarf is sort of perfect to wrap and tuck, adding a bit of warmth with being bulky. Rather than tossing the front piece over my shoulder, I bring the back piece forward over the front which helps keep it in place, even without a brooch.

This crossbody bag is large enough to hold a laptop but sleek enough for every day. It comes in three colors at Nordstrom and five colors at Everlane.

Puffer coats are in just about every store in downtown Vancouver, as people gear up for the cold. It’s not cold enough for me to need one in California, but it sure is in most other places.

Re:Down Sleeping bag Puffer from Everlane on A Well Styled Life
Re:DownĀ®Ā  Sleeping Bag Coat in Bone

Everlane’s Re:DownĀ® fill is made from recycled down comforters and pillows. The outer shell is made of 100% recycled fabric with flurorine-free water-repellency. I love that Everlane is lowering their carbon footprint in so many of their products. You can read more about the whole process here.

This is my firstĀ cashmere turtleneck from Everlane but it won’t be my last. Most turtlenecks feel like they’re strangling me but this doesn’t. It a super soft timeless classic that will go with everything. Because I have a short neck, I fold the neck down in thirds so it doesn’t crowd my chin. I’m wearing black, because me…but it does come in four other colors.

Are you a fan of cashmere?

Remember to enter to win this cashmere wrap. I will announce the winner on the blog tomorrow.

Thanks for reading and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.

  1. Thank you for all the great products you share. Love cashmere, looking for navy turtleneck. Will definitely look at the Everlane brand. Great idea on how to wear the scarf. Rebecca

Again, itā€™s so nice to hear you enjoyed shopping in my home town Vancouver ??
    I love nice cashmere.
I plan to check check out the Everlane brand.
My daughter just gifted me a beautiful red cashmere wrap, canā€™t wait to try it like you suggested

  4. Jennifer, you look absolutely amazing – there is a beautiful glow of happiness about you. Spending time with Vanessa is cherished time indeed – as a mother of two sons shopping together does not happen, but many other experiences with them are always extra special. Love the sweaters but wonder, too, about the wool being itchy. Re the booties: can you recommend any flat ones that are lined for winter – perhaps Vanessa knows of some. It is cold and snowy here in Alberta.?? ā„ļø

    1. She and I are both fans of Uggs. They are very comfy and extremely warm.

    2. Re wool/cashmere sweaters. As the climate I live in is similar to yours; to solve the problem of sensitivity to them I find that a ‘light weight base-layer (long sleeved) top’ works well underneath . Also in respect to winter booties; I just invested in a pair by Skechers called Joy Winter that you might be interested. They are as light as a feather plus pull-on, appear to have a good tread (though not tested yet … ā˜ŗ), suede treated upper (I always treat my boots with a suitable repellent regardless though), true to size and come in half sizes as well and though the toe is described as round IMO they are more almond in shape but still have sufficient room in the toe-bed and look quite flattering when on.

P.S.: They are also have a bit of a faux fur trim around the top of the shaft which I matched up identically with a scarf (from Winners & Marshalls carry them as well) that I actually bought two of; taking one apart to make removable cuffs for my very plain every day/casual puffer parka.

@Jennifer: Glad that you are having such a fun time with your daughter and I apologize for being soooooo long-winded.

  5. Thanks for the tip about the scarf. I just wore one yesterday with the front piece tossed over my shoulder, and it kept slipping off. I wasn’t smart enough to bring the back piece forward over the front. That’s one problem solved, thanks to you!

  6. Iā€™ve wanted to try several of Everlaneā€™s pieces but not having a store in Canada has stopped me. I have no idea of the sizing and returns can be a hassle. Do you know how long the pop up store will remain in Nordstrom Vancouver? I love cashmere and having gained a few pounds none of mine fit. I would need to size up to a medium.
Vanessa will be sorry to see you leave. It looks like you had some great mother/daughter time, shopping, eating and lots of laughter. Take all those happy endorphins to your conference in Nashville, Jennifer!

    1. I wear a medium and am also comfortable in a large. I miss her already.

  7. It looks like a good time was had in beautiful Vancouver! I truly envy all who can wear cashmere because it feels like barbed wire on my skin… and I have tried them all, from Uniqlo to very high end designers. Uniqlo is the only one I tolerate for an hour or so over a shirt… wool of any kind is not my friend! Lol

  8. I have wanted to order a cashmere crewneck from Everlane but am uncertain of the sizing. How does it compare to Banana Republic or JJIl? Love the colors! Going to see my daughter this weekend, what fun.

    1. I think these run very similar to J. Jill. I wear a medium and could also wear a large.

  9. Mmmmmm. Love all the cashmere items- Especially any v neck sweater or poncho or scarf. The give-away will be a great start to my collection and addition to my travel must haves! Thank you for the offer! Love your newsletter!

have you tried Everlane’s Recashmere? Carbon footprint appeals to me, just wondering what it would feel like.

  11. Nothing better than spending time with your daughter. I have two and we LOVE to shop!! Have fun at the conference.
