Spring has definitely sprung, and I’m excited to work with Talbots today to style some colorful and new lightweight sweaters that are part of their latest collection. Talbots is celebrating with their Spring in Bloom Event, so you’ll save 30% off your entire order! Classic Awards® Members earn 3x Style Points on their entire purchase. Talbots is a reader favorite and available in sizes misses, petite, plus, and plus petite.

As the weather warms up, it’s time to stow our wool and cashmere until next winter and bring out our lightweight sweaters. My climate seldom switches right from cold to hot, so those in-between seasons are perfect for cotton sweaters. I call them shoulder seasons (pun intended) because that’s when and where I often need extra coverage this time of year. Enter cotton sweaters and knitwear in breathable fabrics that still add a bit of warmth.
Style Tip- drape a pullover or closed cardigan over your shoulders, for some added warmth and to keep it handy when the temperatures change. It also acts as an accessory to polish your look while maintaining a casual vibe.

This classic ribbed V-neck pullover is as timeless as it is a useful player in your wardrobe. It’s made from 100% Pima cotton, which is perfect for transitional weather. It’s knit in an all-over soft rib pattern that looks shapely, rather than boxy. This sweater comes in 5 great colors, and I could not resist this royal blue. I love the way it pops against the white for a fresh look that says, spring is here!

I topped this look with this lovely Knit Tweed Jacket, which you first saw on me here at my last try-on. It’s such a perfect addition to a spring wardrobe. The lightweight fabric has an elegant look, and the touch of spandex in the fabric keeps it from wrinkling. I’m particularly fond of the silver buttons, because gold ones clash with all my jewelry 😉.

This blue obviously coordinates beautifully with denim, for the tonal look I love to wear so often. Here I paired it with some relaxed leg jeans and popped on this blue tie-dye scarf.
I love how a scarf can be a total chameleon in my wardrobe. I always toss a few into my suitcase when I travel because they instantly change up an outfit and add that extra bit of versatility. A great scarf can rescue even the simplest look from feeling plain or unfinished, and is such an easy way to look more pulled together. Talbots always carries a great selection of scarves, in silk, cotton, and other fabrics. Here’s more of their current selection.

Here, I layered the ribbed sweater over my denim shirt, which I tucked into these Hampshire straight-leg ankle pants. These pants come in 4 colors and have an invisible elastic back waistband that adjusts to your body and prevents gaping or feeling too tight.

The other little cotton sweater I added to my wardrobe is this collared polo sweater in a pointelle knit. It’s a cotton blend that comes in 7 fresh colors for spring. The open weave keeps it nice and cool, and although they suggest you can layer it over a tank top, I found the coverage to be perfect as is, over a flesh-toned bra.
Style tip- Adding a scarf to your handbag is like swiping on your favorite lipstick—it’s a small touch that instantly zhuzhes up your look and proves that fabulous style lives in the little details.

And here, we have the perfect solution to a lousy hair day. It works for an afternoon exploring the Italian countryside, or the perfect look for a summer car ride with the top down. I simply folded my scarf on the diagonal, placed the fold against my forehead, and wrapped the ends to the back, tying them in a loose knot to hold it in place. My husband calls this my Rhoda look, but I’ve been tying my scarves like this for ages!

I’m wearing Talbots slim ankle jeans in bright white, and they could not be more perfect. The curvy fit is here. These dress up or down for any occasion and fit like a dream. The leg is slightly tapered but not too slim, so they’re slim and flattering without that skinny look or feel. I like to size up in white jeans for a more flattering look. The slim ankle is a very popular jean for Talbots, and they make them in lots of colors and prints.
Talbots is a size-inclusive brand that has been providing women with timeless classics for over 75 years. Their latest collection is full of fresh shades of green, beautiful blues, and bright pops of pink and purple to add joy and delight to your wardrobe.
Are you a scarf wearer, and how do you style them?

I have always wanted the Talbots look so much! But the prices have kept me away and I can’t seem to pull it together on my own — plus I never was able, whenever I did look at Talbots store, to find my size. That is so disheartening! I saw your ad and felt hopeful that maybe you could help me – is there anyway I can have this look? I need a 16 Petite and because of lymphedema in my lower legs I can’t wear capris anymore and too afraid to try long skirts, so I’m stuck with wide leg pants. I love this put together beautiful look and need to feel great and confident in my clothes, as you do, if there is any way. Thanks!
Try the long skirts! I love them
I love blue! You look terrific in all of your choices today! The snowstorm that hit us last night is slowly melting and the sun is finally trying to shine a little bit. It is still chilly at 42 degrees so sweaters are still in use here today. Good luck and prayers for your husband’s surgery on Monday. My husband has cataract surgery on Friday.
Thanks Sydney! Wishing your husband great success with his surgery too.
Great post, Jennifer. I love silk scarves and have bought quite a few from Talbots. They really can enhance an outfit.
They make great silk sacrves and the prices are so reasonable too!
I’m a wanna be scarf wearer too! I usually forget or it doesn’t look quite right. I’m going to work on that. Love all the sweaters.
.
What is the brand name of the Mary Jane shoes you are wearing? I love Mary Janes and they are so comfortable to wear. Thanks.
They’re here and super comfy.
I love all of these looks – I guess I am really a Talbots gal! Thanks for the inspiration on the scarves – I have many and need to start seeing how they can change up my look! After being couch bound since mid January I am 5 days post hip replacement surgery – looking forward to wearing fun spring colors once the swelling subsides!
I hope you’re feeling better and up and at it soon! My husband gets his new hip this Monday!
I’m a wanna be scarf wearer. 😂. I can never seem to get them to look right! You look so good in the blue Pointelle stitch polo.
Just toss it on, futz with it a bit, and call it done! The style is leaning towards less origami styled knots on scarves and more relaxed ways to wear them.
I love how versatile you made all these pieces seem, and you look great in all the different blue items. Thanks for providing all those different combinations.
Their blues are so pretty this spring.
